(( dont have tag yet so here she is in her uncerted glory XD)) Fox place one hoof, then the next on the rocky shelf up from the one she was stood on. She wasn't very far up the slope, but even a fall from this height would land her with a fairly bad injury, and that was to be avoided at all cost. The playful wind tugged at her overly long mane, whipping it up into her face, so she paused, waiting for the wind to stop long enough for her to toss the hair out of the way before moving up properly onto the next shelf.
She stopped for a moment, looking down and across the valley that the rock face overlooked. It was a nice day she conceded, and this was a good view, but she was more interested in the workout this climb would give her muscles.
She enjoyed honing them, giving them tone and strength to endure the longest runs, or the hardest fights. Her body was her finest instrument, and she looked after it with a great deal of care. Some of this had led to the falling out with the head stallion of the last herd she had run with. He hadn't understood what he called her 'obsession' with training..but he'd wanted her to be soft, and subservient - and she hadn't wanted to be the mate of a male who wanted to be other than she was.
She shook the thoughts from her head - perched up here was not a good place to be distracted. Fox looked upwards, she could see where the face curved over into the summit and she wasn't far from that point. There was a path of sorts, and she would need a clear head to navigate it. She carried on upwards.

It seemed....the higher one reached above the valleys, the stronger the winds resisted. Curling and gripping powerfully like a water's current, as if to thrust invaders away. Was that what he was, an invader? Like any other traveler finding purchase in otherwise deserted terrains. Still, it was worth the peaceful view to tread so far. Blends of orange and blue ruffled wildly as another gale of wind drove by, the strength of it making the stallion's hair bangles clink soundly. Shaded eyes squinted shut and head bowed as the soquili held against the brief wind.
The force gone, Jumanjii' finally opened his pale eyes, turning them once again to the scenery below. Still saturated in the whites of winter. But there was some hope appearing here and there, faint but numerous. Flecks of brown and green could be seen peeking from the snow almost bashfully for the coming spring. It was about bloody time.
Ears pinned, and the male turned his strong neck to another sound other than the wind. There were pebbles and rocks being disturbed below. Curiously bored, Jumanjii' stepped from his perch to the further end of the cliff's nose that held the pathways. A brow quirked to find another soquili standing there, quiet and deep in thought.

'Would you mind moving?' Fox looked up at the stallion from where she was stood. There was plenty of room either side of him..if she wanted to turn an ankle and be lame for a week. He was stood on the part of the scree that wasn't covered in loose stones.
The mare took the opportunity to appraise the male, taking his exotic appearance and the adornments he wore. He reminded her strongly of the shaman that had been part of a herd she'd run with briefly.

Brows twitched and the stallion and bowed his head to glance down at the other soquili. Like she had to come this direction, when there was many more. Granted they weren't the safest paths, no, but still the male found a stubborn urge to not move. "A simple please would be gettin you by." Giving a faint huff, he stepped away though, knowing such an angle was not sturdy to stand on for long. Dark hooves clicked soundly on the rocks below as he headed back to his previous stance to view the landscape. Ears kept pinned, however, to make sure the other didn't stumble or lurk threateningly.

'That it would I am sure, but I think I asked politely enough to begin with.' Fox gave a faint unreadable smile, noticing that he had moved anyways - she appreciated manners when they were necessary but as she hadn't addressed him as 'oi' she didn't see that she'd been rude.
'And you moved, so obviously I asked well enough,' Fox said as she hopped nimbly up to stand beside him. She looked at him steadily, wondering if she would take what she was doing as challenge or not. It wasn't, she just wanted to see how good he was at reading the subtleties of body language. If he did take it as a challenge she would already know much about him.

Hn, so opinionated! A small chuckle left Jumanjii's lips, and he continued his stride towards the rocky edge. Sure it had been well enough said, but he always had those nagging reminders from mother. Always include your please and thank you's. Even to this day, and it made him shake his head with a grin at the lessons he's been taught.
"Ye did just fine, and ya made it all the way up. Congrats." The only other company that had been up here lately had been bunnies. Not the most entertaining of guests, but enough to observe. One ear canted to the side, and the stallion lifted a brow. Just as....he was being observed now? "Hey now," He turned his neck to face the other, "have somethin' to say?" He didn't much like being watched so openly, especially with his back turned. Or up so high on this terrain either. Then he snirked to himself. "O' ya must be tired from such a travel. Yes?"

'Of course I did, you moved out of my way, and whilst I enjoy a challenging climb I don't take chances on loose rock rubble.' Fox replied offhandedly, shaking out one of her back legs as the muscle felt a little strained. She placed the hoof down again gently, letting it rest on the edge.
'No, was just seeing something,' she gave him a rare smile. At least he wasn't brash, history was filled with those who fought with their muscles and not their brains. Having a well honed body was one thing, but if you threw yourself at everyone that looked at you funny you wouldn't have a long life.
'Tired? No not really, I don't tire too easily. I'm Fox by the by,' she gave her name with a trace of irony. Now who had forgotten his manners?

Jumanjii' nodded offhandedly as well, not finding much reason to reply at first. Instead he quirked his brow before turning back to look at the scenery. Perhaps she had come for the same view. "Yes, it is something, hn? Amazing to know so little of what ye live in till ya step away from it." The woods, the meadows and the prairies, all connected yet so different. Eyes widened as he realized his discourtesy, pointed out by the mare. Huffing to himself the soqu glanced back over to the other. "Fox? That's....different. Why so? An' ye can call me Jumanjii'."

'I'm not really one for stopping to 'smell the roses' as they say. I was exercising, testing my muscles.' Fox smiled faintly. 'The view was incidental, I can appreciate it but it was besides the point of my venturing up here.'
She wondered briefly for the first time about the necessity to question the meaning behind her name. What was it that meant most put so much stock into what somebody was called? It was her name, it didn't describe who she was. 'You're the second to question that. It's only my name...not my birth one, couldn't tell anyone what that was. I ran with a herd when I was growing up and the leader gave it to me after seeing how I moved. I don't imagine your name is all you are.' she said pointedly.

Jumanjii' smirked in response, tossing his tail in amusement. "There be no roses up 'ere though. Just pure air all around." Eyes turned to her legs as he nodded with some aspect of understanding. This climb was indeed a harsh workout, and her legs proved so. Narrow muscles could be seen pulsing from the exercise. Turning his sight once more, the soquili glanced over the landscape towards the forest. "Hn, you had a point to come?"
Eyes narrowed slightly and Manjii' stretched his muzzle lightly. Was she throwing a tone at him, or was that just the pressure of the altitude? Scoffing mutely, he forced out some answer. "And it be botherin' you? Then why hold onto that name at all?" The stallion shrugged, and couldn't help but chuckle to himself at a memory. "I had met a mare once before, when I was a tiny lad. She 'ad said that names were dear and valuable for who they belonged to. Ye obviously haven't bonded with your own yet."

She blinked; 'That I can see, but it's a metaphor - for enjoying what's around you and not being inwardly focused on your own things. Some believe having that kind of drive is wrong because you miss out on life. I see life, I don't have to stop everyday to live mine.'
She looked again at Jumanjii. Was he listening to what she was saying? 'As I said before, this climb and location was merely a tool to hone my body. That was the point. Nothing else, no other hidden agendas.'
She didn't do hidden, what she was, who she was was all upfront.
'It bothers me up to that point of not understanding the importance others place in them. That's all.' she snorted lightly. 'And I keep it for the reason I said. It's a name so that I don't get addressed as 'oi' or similar. A new one would be used much the same way.' she shook her head.
'I would say that was wrong. Names are there so we know what to call something. Take yourself. If I introduced you to someone else very quickly and you left straight afterwards all they would have was your name and how you looked. That wouldn't explain anything about yourself though, not how you think, how you act - none of what makes you, you. A name holds value to the point where we can catalogue others in our heads. I would be who I was whatever my name is..and I would imagine you would be the same.' she paused, she wasn't often talkative, unless she felt a topic deemed it necessary.
'That's my opinion. I would imagine there are sentimental reasons for most, as they are named by their parents. But that's just one tiny part of what a parent should be able to do for their child, and so if you treasure a name that much because your mother or father gave it you then other things are lacking.'

The stallion chuckled and sent a crooked smile to the other. "Aye, and I met your metaphor with sarcasm." Then he blinked in short surprise, flicking his ears as he tried to understand. "Not focus inward? Aren't we all capable ta do both? Life nay always take care of you, and that's went one finds comfort in themselves. Do you believe that to be wrong?" He had to wonder though if he was one of the questioned, focusing too much on one aspect of life and not the other.
But either way, he wanted to one that lives his own life.
The stallion snorted and shook his mane. This mare was proving to be quite confrontational, enough so to make his blood churn. Had she no value of what she was called? None at all? Would she easily shuffle one word with another, just for the sake of being recognized better than 'oi'? " 'Cept we're created to do more than catalog each other. Heh, talk about living, dear Fox." Manjii' stepped away from the ledge just to peer at the other with a determined focus. "Sure the name be only the face of an individual, but all the same it's a first impression. It should 'ave enough heart in its meaning to represent you. Just as scars on flesh have stories to tell, so do names."
"In me own opinion....yes, you're just like a fox. Whatever pride ye can find in that, if you ever bother." Never before had the Troll met another so.... detached.
