}~{I was thinking that maybe Mya could be flying by, and notice a familiar face? If that's not okay with you, I'll write up something else >.< Ooh! Or maybe Mya was coming to give the pair a housewarming gift? Who knows. Interpret/play off of my post however you see fit.}~{

The only thing more noticable than the large grey painter stretched out on the grass was perhaps the bulge in her belly. Zephyiote, while large, was of a very slim build, and a large torso tapered gracefull to her hindquarters, and those in turn to her tail. But today, that was not the case. She had the appearence of a pea pod. For, what one at first glance might shrug off as her having just eaten, a few circular bumps could be seen, barely. Why, upon closer inspection, one might presume Zephyiote to be pregnant! And indeed she was. She, the seemingly least likely candidate for motherhood, was about to bear her first clutch.

She was a ways off from her new den, in a grassy field in a small clearing, where she had taken up occupancy with her mate, Seiki. Her CornBaby, still nameless, played in the tall grasses all around her. Normally she could have flown the distance from the cave to her basking spot in a matter of minutes, but as it was, flight was rather awkward, as her weight and center of balance was thrown off by the eggs. So she'd had to waddle here, slowly, carefully, taking upwards of a half hour. But that was okay. It wasn't like she was busy, or had anything to do. Seiki was so considerate. He tended to her every need. But she really had had to get out of the den. She hated being stuck there. And a nice bask in the sun had seemed so nice. And it was. Her constant feeling of unease in her abdomen was lessened, and it was easier to relax. She constantly shifted between waking and sleep, and everything seemed to take on a dreamy haze, through fifteen pairs of half lidded eyes. This was amazing and beautiful.

At first, she'd fretted about having children. It'd taken a lot of consolation and long talks with Seiki to convince her that it might be a good thing. She was afraid for her children, afraid that they would suffer the same tortures that she had because of her appearance. But Seiki had convinced her that it would be alright. That even if their kids inherited some of her...stranger traits, that it would be okay. That they would be raised with care and love, and that they would lead healthy, good lives. And Zephyiote was warming up to the idea more and more. With each day that the eggs hardened and developed in her belly, she grew more attached to them. How funny it was that she could love something so much, that were still just yolks and specks that would eventually be her children. Ah, surely that was life for you?

And besides, it wasn't really like they had any visitors. Their den was hidden in the jungles of sleep. Unless you knew exactly where the den was, you could pass right by it. Only a few painters knew about it. Her, Seiki, and a scant number of very close personal friends. Despite the fact that she adored the seclusion, she couldn't bare to seperate herself completely from the outside world. Friends like Florica, Articuno, and Mya, were immensely important to her. She thought to herself that she would like to go visit any of them soon. As soon as she could. Although that probably wouldn't be for a while. She would have to lay her clutch first, and wait until they were old enough to either come with her, or at least able to cope without her for a few days.

Zephyiote sighed.
She loved her life.

Flying high above the grassy clearing where Zephyiote now lived was a cream-colored Painter, an old friend who had not seen the Pan'lun scientist in weeks. She had flown to where the mysterious Painter had lived last but was told she had moved elsewhere, with a young male Painter; excited, Mya had planned to meet up with her but something had barred the young female from flying around...

And two of that certain something was currently clinging to her back while letting out little squeaks of uncertainy. Two pairs of eyes would peek out over the edge before trilling and hiding their faces into her shoulders from the long fall; despite their fear, they kept looking and Mya could only laugh at the curiosity her children possessed.

Yes...Children...After so long, the spirits had blessed Valentine and herself with the ultimate gift of six hatchlings only a few weeks earlier. Exhausting as it was, the tiny children were already showing off vibrant personalities and Mya thought it was time to bring the little ones a little farther out beyond the borders of the clearing. And what better way to start than introducing them to new painters? Eyeing a soft patch of grass below, Mya carefully tilted downwards into the shallow dive (her children squealed and cling to her scales with tiny claws at the dive, chattering unhappily in a manner of protest) before landing with a soft thud. She would have to walk a ways to get to the den nearby.

After their momma landed, the two reactions were very different between the baby painters. Little Balint squealed as he suddenly slid downwards and tumbled into a tiny heap in the grasses while his sister, Anaya, jumped down and started investigating her new surroundings. Mya smiled and shook her head. "Come on, little ones. Let's get going." With little squeaks, the two children tumbled after their momma as she moved towards the den.
