So I was talking with a friend recently and we had an idea for a guild and was wondering on other peoples feed back. So the guild would be dungeons and dragons guild but with a twist. The whole guild is one setting, probably just a town. All the members start out as a first level character and level up doing odd jobs or from completing quests. Each member is only alowed one character at a time, and all the crew members would serve a DMs for a certain area of the town.

I just thought it sounded like a fun idea, let me know what you all think.

I like the idea, It seems easier than the guild campaign idea, not that i didn't like that one ether. It just sounds easier to start small and grow with time. Then as we grow most likely people will die and then people can being in stronger and stronger creatures, above LA +0

Just what set of rules do we follow? I would like 3.5, I am to poor at the moment to buy 4.0 books and 4.0 doesn't have a SRD or Hypertext that I can read up in. crying

And would their be any limits on characters other than 1st level? Like no elves or psionic, personally I would like no restrictions as long as the person can name the book he got it from or it is signed off by a crew member. After all they are the dm in this game.

Personally, 3.5 is my favorite addition. 4th has some good ideas but in my opinion they are poorly exicuted, there for I'd say it would be run as 3.5, also this way we won't have the issue of characters being the EXACT same.

Also I have no problem with psionics or any of the other classes, just as long as you play the character and not the class if that makes any sense.

Why not Just start a sub folder thingy. With stickies one for people to post a character(Or even better a sub sub folder within the first where everyone can enter there character in different threads), one for the game(Or more if needed), and the last for occ stuff. Oh and house rules of the game.

I would only say get a map of the town they are in.

I love to play in the game just tell me where to sign up. Also if you need anything, I will do what I can.

The reason I don't want it to be a sub folder is because that just means it's another game that will most likely end up being dropped in a month or so.
If it's a game with only one setting and many people then there will always be a new thing to do and new people to join in, along with character interaction within the entire city, with players form one mission enteracting with players from a seperate one.

Then where would you put it? If it is with the other games it would get lost, unless if it is a sticky.

Ether way, I still say create a sub-folder to seperate the Character sheets. It is hard to try to find your sheet, to update or change something, after page and page of other peoples sheets, even if everyone is using an external site.

Well it would be it's own guild with seperate forums for characters and Out of character disscusions.

Lol No worries, I'll be starting it up soon I think. I only need a name for the town a map and a few able bodied DM to run as crew.

If I can't think of a name I find a name generator and It normally helps.

As for the Dm role, I can't. I will play, but Between job, family and The Goddess. I don't have much time to help another game.

I'd rather you actually finished your current idea first: I PM'ed you asking about character ideas over a month ago and you never replied.

Sounds like an awesome idea. However if you plan on having crew members for individual areas that'd require quite a bit of crewmembers wouldn't it?

First, I never finished that Idea because a month or so before you sent a message no one else responded to the Pms that I sent out to them, there fore I assumed that the game died there. No one seemed interested in playing it so I gave up on it as a waist of my time.

Second, I think with enough experienced DM's we should be fine, possibly starting out with maybe five different Crew members, but as the city grows the players them selves can start setting up quests for lower level characters and act as DM as long as they keep their DM up to date on it. Also I beleive that I'd have Exp based on how often you post and how well you act in character, just to keep the game moving and to keep it interesting.

Could guild size be an issue?
