Today Landy spawned on Feather Coatl, then went away a few minutes later. What's weird about that? The fact that....

-within seconds of when he spawned, every chest/crate on the beach and the enemies that gaurd it respawned.

-There were few people on the beach, so no lag.

-When he left, the entire beach north of the fluff crate/anchor bug chest was completely 100% empty. Not a single enemy.

-Suddenly, around 10-20 seconds after he left (as far as I can tell) everything on the beach, except for the crates, respawned.

-There were no water spouts at all, all night. I was there from midnight to 5 or 6 am.


My Theory: They're trying to deal with the water-spouts issue (where they instantly respawn when killed), and this has affected the landshark spawn as well as every enemy on the beach.

What that means: Landshark's spawn is not triggered by anything human-related. It's (for now) simply random chance. That's why trying to change one spawn on the beach affected the rest, INCLUDING landshark's.

Opinions? Theories? Hatemail? Similiar Stories?

zOMG is acting a bit weird, it keeps catapulting me through different instances. Approximately one Gaian hour after the above encounter, I went to the null, and came out on a different instance. I heard from others that landshark had spawned on this instance just before my arrival. Someone was assembling a party of 10s to take him out, and as we moved up the beach I again noted, in between all the dead noobs, that every single chest on the beach was spawned. Unfortunately my story ends about there. We got him down to half-health, but it was too crowded and messy for defibbing, so after he came at me (I died in around 5 hits I think, with a R3 meat) I awakened. Should have known better: When I emerged from the beach I was AGAIN on a different instance, so idk how it ended.

For the record, on this second encounter, it was VERY laggy, and the beach was packed. there was literally a trail of dead noobs leading to him.

So, is this random instance-switching normal? Is it related to them trying to figure out how to fix the spouts, am I giving too many topic-prompter-thingies?

Weird. I'm glad someone's finally posting their trigger findings in here.

As for instance-hopping, that's always happened when you go to the null.

The chest thing is weird, though. The old trigger had nothing to do with the chests, but maybe the new one does. =O

The same thing happened in carrion fluff server. I only saw him for a few second then he just disappeared. Should have duct taped him when I had the chance >_<

I never noticed that about the Null. maybe because I'm usually in a crew so it anchors me.

Anyways, I'm not really saying the chests are related to the trigger, I'm saying they might both be triggered by the same thing. Like, somethings broken so they just tethered landshark's trigger to everything else, amybe gave him a lower probability.

If that is the case, how long do we have to play around with it? For all we know, they could fix it in the update tomorrow. =(

My guess is, when the spouts are back we'll see this stop. If it keeps happening after that, we have to assume that landshark is just a random spawn.

It might have been like an hour after we talked. I went to SS and after we were done and my crew disbanded I saw him there.

I didn't take screenies 'cuz I had to reset my comp after that >_<

I noticed him dissappearing once during the last few times I saw him, fairly recently. I think if he dies on one instance he goes away on them all. My only proof is a few days ago when I was on bootsnake. He spawned, we fought him a bit, died a bit, basically getting nowhere. Then suddenly he's gone (I was offscreen at the time, not sure whether he poofed, or moved away and never came back) and a few seconds later I see in my clan chat that he's just been killed in another instance, same server. Not sure if it was coincidence.

and btw, I can't remember if I told you guys or not, but yesterday we killed him in less than a minute. between 12-14 CL 10.0's all waiting by the WP sorting out crews. Someone calls landshark, we hoof it down the beach, meet up with a couple other 10's keeping him busy, and we rocked him. literally around 30-40 seconds, and he was almost full-health when we got there.

Hm, this would mean that all Landshark spawnings are connected, hinting that there is a trigger or part of a code you can perform to affect behavior.
xD we've had some pretty fast kills ourselves, back during trigger testing we'd have 30 10's on that shark in 5 seconds ninja I have a picture where there's so many people that you can see FIVE hack rings being used on the shark and I am being healed by 3 diagnoses at least, it was predetermined chaos.
@original: sure hope they didn't D: he's meant to be super strong.

I remember that! Those were the good old days... When all we wanted was to test our trigger, and then we'd have to quickly get rid of the shark so we didn't end up with too big of a crowd. XD

Oh, and 4 people killing it in less than 20 minutes sounds normal to me. neutral

I don't get how 4 people can kill it at all. It regens reasonably fast, and eventually it would kill them all, wouldn't it?

Either way I don't think it's been nerfed. but you have a point that if it spawns on all instances, it probably isn't a random event like i was thinking it was. WAIT, I GOT IT!

We know gold beach has spawn glitches they're trying to fix. What if they messed up landshark so that if he's triggered on ONE instance, he'll spawn on them all. That explains the chests. he spawns for no reason and it creates a glitch where everything on the level randomly resets. Or maybe in an effort to fix the spouts, they're linking the spawns so that every instance is linked. that's why sometimes enemies spawn just after dieing, and other times they take forever.

I know it's pretty far-fetched, but maybe that's it. Like they're duct-taping the spawns instead of fixing them.
