Benita was a right good Mentor, Joska was sure of that! She had been teaching him so much and the time he was spending in her territory was definitely not a waste. He would take the lessons she is teaching him and hold them to heart for the rest of his life, that was for sure!
The young adolescent strayed from the safety of Benita's pack to further himself on his journey to learn what he needed to know and to build his own pack. He would return later... But for now, he needed to gain a little more experience with others. Of course, now the youngster was losing steam... And confidence. This mountain had been difficult to climb and the further he went, the more ominous the territory seemed. The scent of a pack was here... But it wasn't so blatantly obvious earlier, like other packs seemed to be. Where they hiding here?
It seemed barren of prey, which was odd. So far, the East seemed to be an extremely lush place.
His fur bristled slightly as what appeared to be a decrepit village came into view. He lifted his maw to the sky and belted out a howl to announce his presence.
I'm here! It said. I am alone and come in peace! The grim atmosphere kind of... Worried him.

Aro was lounging in the dilapidated ruins that were his home. No one came into his territory that either wanted out alive or that didn't join his pack. The sunlight shined in on his sparkling black fur making him lazy with it's heat. It was a glorious day, there was not a sound to be heard for miles around. That is, until he heard the howl. His underlings were all off doing something or other, leaving him with task of finding out who this pup was, and what he was doing on his territory. A somewhat sinister smile spread across his face as he contemplated the possible acquisition of a new toy. Stretching he got to his paws and ran to try and locate the source of the noise. When he caught the unfamiliar scent, he knew he was almost nearby. Aro was thankful for his speed, the one thing that helped keep him apart from all of the other helixes. He and very few else were gifted with the strength and speed that came with being special. That, and the fact that he could sparkle in the sunlight. He slowed to a somewhat normal speed when he was close to the adventurous helix. Not wanting to frighten the helix he called through the trees, "Hello to you! Welcome to my territory." He lurked a bit in the trees, not wanting to show his fur sparkled in the light. That would come later.

He was almost caught offguard by the sudden voice in the trees. He peered about, searching for the body of the voice, which didn't seem all to aggressive. Taht was what he had been expecting, some sort of aggression. He knew very well that he was still young and learning his place, but if he waanted to be an Alpha one day, he had to show some pride and strength. He held his small, gray head high and his silver eyes fell on the area of trees that he had decided the voice hid in. There was a hint of excitement in his stature and his voice as he replied to the greeting of the Alpha of this territory.
"Hello, Sir, and thank you for your welcome. I do not wish to tresspass, only pass by and possibly share a few words with you, Sir." He spoke politely, but his voice was far from timid. He really had very little idea of what he was getting into, but hopefully it would help shape him into the dominante Alpha he wished to become. Maybe he could even find an alliance in the future, if he tried hard enough. His ears trained forward with his eyes. He was sure that was the place that Aro had come to a halt and he hoped his own presence wouldn't be much of a bother.

The pup was polite! Now that was refreshing. Adolescents these days just didn't know their manners. "Come, come my good pup! I can barely see you, why don't you come over here to the shade?" He gave the pup his leave and listened to the continuing conversation. "I appreciate your howl to let me know your prescience, but it is rare to get visitors in these parts. It is refreshing to see a new face. Now, if I may ask, what is your name?" Aro got the feeling that the pup was indeed trying very hard to gain his favor. He liked this, and perhaps would help the young one on his way to the prize that he wanted.

"Yessir." He replied briefly and took several pawsteps towards the shade of the trees. The shadows drifted over his gray, white, and black pelt and his silver eyes continued searching, hoping to see the Alpha at least a little bit better.
There.
He thought he could make out the form of the intimidating fellow. Still, he didn't let his guard down, or his stature for that matter. He kept his head and tail level, as he had seen Benita do often, and smiled. His ivory fangs glistened as he spoke.
"The terrain on the way here was certainly difficult. I almost thought I wouldn't find any Helix living this far up. I can imagine not many venture out here. Joska is my name, Sir." The voice sounded very friendly, which was nice. So far he hadn't had many unfortunate run ins and this one seemed to be going well enough.

"It is my honor, young Joska." Aro nodded his head in courtesy before going on, "I am called Aro. Perhaps you'd like to come higher up the mountain to rest and get some fresh water? Maybe some food?" He was already considering what position he'd put the pup in. Perhaps as his own personal toy. Oh, how he wanted to have a new plaything ever so badly. But he mustn't let his plans show, for it could destroy his wishes completely.

He tried to remain stoic, but the youngster's tail betrayed his feelings with a few short wags. The smile on his maw didn't fade, but grew slightly wider and his silver eyes shown cheerily. This pack couldn't be that bad, at all!
"That would be most pleasant, Sir, a real pleasure to tell you the truth! I'm parched." His paws shifted anxiously beneath his runty frame and his head, still held tall, peered closer at the male helix. Was he... Glowing?

"Then let us make our journey." Aro chuckled as the adolescent's tail wagged. "It's not much farther up the mountain." Aro began walking slowly, wanting to make sure that the young one could keep up. But this caused him to go completely into the sunlight, leaving his fur exposed to it's rays. He glimmered as it's warmth caressed his skin. "If you'll follow me this way, I'll show you the short cut." Aro barked back to the younger helix.

The young, ambitious helix was quick at Aro's heels with his usual determination. The glistening of the older Helix's fur was baffling and, yet at the same time, beautiful. He couldn't take his eyes off the Alpha's pelt for a few seconds, before he made himself do so. "Not far? S'good, Sir! It was a good bit of treck from Benita's territory to here! Gorgeous spot of land, though, all the way up!"
He chuckled as he kept pace with Aro. Though the Alpha seemed good natured, his fur prickled on the back of his neck as he padded along in the larger helix's shadow.

Aro noticed the pup's staring. "Ah! I don't know if you've noticed or not, but I'm different than a normal helix. I'm what they would call a vampire." The alpha told the pup as he continued walking. "I'm glad you like it here. We tend to have few visitors, but those that we have tend to stay a while with us." Or are murdered, Aro thought as he continued on. The trees gave way for the emptiness that was the mile or so before the village. "And don't mind the village, as no humans live here.

"Vampire..." He voiced the foreign word quietly as he tried to summon up it's meaning. He had never heard of them in the den with his parents and siblings, but he felt dumb to ask what that was. Maybe it was because of him being a "vampire" was why he had a nervous sensation.
"I could see why they stay! The area is lovely!" He voiced as he left the safety of the trees and padded out into the vast openness, something that stirred an unsafe feeling and begged him to retreat. Too bad he was too facinated to listen to his gut instincts at this very moment. "Good that there are no humans, dangerous things... But... What is a vampire, anyways? Does that mean your fur is just pretty? Mamma and Pappa never told me about them when I lived in the den."

Aro chuckled as he sensed the confusion in the other helix. Deciding to feed his curiosity, he said,"We're basically like normal helix, but we have faster reflexes and we shine in the sunlight." Aro could feel the hidden fear in the helix, but he wasn't going to mention it. Aro also had the ability to feel what other helix were feeling but he wasn't going to tell the pup that. He was at the outskirts of the town when he said, "The river is this way." Aro was leading the pup towards the right, closer to his castle.

"Faster, okay... I see. Well, I guess being a "vampire" is a good thing, huh?" He replied with ease as he followed Aro to the right, towards the river and towards the notorious castle that other helix had met their ends at.
"Nothin' quite so special about me." He said with a grin as his paws carried him behind Aro. "'Cept I was smaller than my other siblings. Still am. My brother was born without any color, though, not a single mark and all white. He's got red eyes, too. Dunno what is up with that, really."

Aro chuckled. "I have red eyes myself. And being a vampire has its advantages, yes." The stream was right beside the castle and Aro was thinking he could use some water as well before he gave the wolf his ultimatum. "There's the river, just ahead." He pointed with his nose as he continued his trek to the body of water. Once he was there, Aro dipped his head and drank some of the crisp cold water, enjoying the feeling on his tongue.

Joska was feeling parched, as he had stated earlier, so the sound of the gurgling stream was enough to get his attention before Aro had even spoken.
"He gets mad whenever anyone talks about it, so we don't. Or, well, usually. Sometimes one of my other brothers would pick on him about it..." His voice trailed off as he followed Aro's example and took long draughts of the cool, refreshing liquid that ran near the castle that Aro called his own.
Once he was finished, he stood tall and cheerfully.
