Irena sighed, sorely missing her home a she trudged along, sure she had met a few others, but there was no place like home. The forest, which she had woken up in was beautiful despite the flames that ate away at the trees, despite the aching throb in her head and the panic that filled her veins. It was instinct that had led her to these lands where the Cerynei had traveled to. She ached to go back to those lands, those lands that held the key to her memories. She had no clue what had happened before the fire, she was barely able to recall her name or what she was.
She moved along steadily, searching, she was always searching now a days. So far her friend Mila hadn't known much more than her yet, and she was much too skittish to interact with any of the other species unless they spoke first and didn't seem all that scary. She tended to bolt when frightened and wished she didn't, it made her look like a fool. She walked around a bush taking in the scenery, it was a pretty peaceful place so far.

Kenton made his way thru the forest at a slow trot. Ever since the big move the the new land of the Soquili Kenton had been mapping out the land. he wanted to make sure he knew every nook and cranny of this strange place. He had not met many of the horse creatures, and he hoped to keep it that way. its not that he did not like them, they were just so strange and different.
a longing crept into his heart for the home that he had left behind. he missed the Cerynei folk. he had not met a single one since he arrived. the thing he would miss the most though, was having a single dominant breed. one sure race to lead the rest, that is how it should be. Kenton turned to a bush and slowed down. he had been running for quite some time now, and it looked like a good pace to rest.

Irena glanced around curiously, she hadn't seen anyone for a while and it was making her antsy. The only relief the lack of others provided her was that there was nothing that wanted her as a snack. She peeked between the trees searching, maybe she could find something here to restore her lost memories, thats what she was hoping for the whole time. At the moment though she was disappointed, all she could scrape up was flashes of color, no matter how hard she concentrated.
Her eyes caught a flicker of movement and stopped, she waited to see what it was before recognizing it as another of her kind. She barely would have noticed him due to his brown coat if he hadn't been moving. She tilted her head and watched him wondering whether or not she should speak to him, maybe he knew something about her? But what if he didn't? She sighed and scuffed her hooves as she debated. She was desperate to find out who she was and that drove her decision, speak to him. Slowly she headed towards the stag, being cautious in case he was hostile.

Kenton stopped moving and stood stark still. he had heard something moving near the bush. he twitched his ears and slowly turned his head. he saw someone walking towards him. it was a doe, and she seemed friendly, and if she wasent he was pretty sure that he could take her. Kenton walked to her and nodded his head. "hello, i am called Kenton. i was just stopping here to rest for a while. did I disturb you?" he smiled kindly at her. it was good to see another Cerynei in these foreign woods.

Irena looked at the buck trying to remember if she knew him before the fire, but all that she could summon up were flashes of fire and the burning in her lungs. "Hello Kenton... d-do I know you?" she tilted her head feeling rather foolish, clearly he didn't know her if he was just introducing himself. She sighed, well there went her hopes no one she had met so far knew her, but maybe she had been with a different herd of Cerynei? She shook her head quickly, "no I... I was just wandering around..." Perhaps she just dropped from the sky that terrible day, she looked down at her scarred legs and shifted nervously. "I hope ... I'm not bothering you?"

Kenton followed Irena's eyes as she looked down at her legs. they looked scuffed up pretty badly. he was about to ask her if they came from the fires, but he stopped himself not knowing if that was a tender subject to her or not. he stepped a little closer and shook his head. "no you are not bothering me in anyway. actually i was just thinking about how i missed being around other Cerynei, so in a way you are like an answer to my prayers." he smiled kindly at her. "so, were are you headed on this fine day?"

Irena quickly looked up not wanting to get distracted by the mystery of how those scars had appeared, she didn't think they could possibly something to be proud of. She smiled awkwardly noticing that he was eyeing her scars. "W-well thats... good... I wouldn't want to... bother anyone." She chuckled quietly, "it's nice to see... see another Cerynei... as well..." She nodded quickly the jerky motion making her hair fall across her face and get in her eyes. She blew a strand away and looked at him with a grin. "I was... just..." she took a deep breath, "wandering... h-how about you?" She raised an eyebrow rather curious, maybe he knew where they were supposed to be going.

Kenton was not sure what to make of this odd female. she seemed almost lost in her own thought, either that or she was just realy shy. he took a moment to sort through her words and understand what she was saying. "oh, well for now i am resting, but soon i will be moving again. this is a very strane place, and i do not want it to get the best of me. i knew owr old home like the back of my hoove, but this place is strange and there are many more persons out there to meet." he nodded as if to add emphasis to his lengthy statement.

Irena nodded slowly, "ah... are you heading... towards the others?" Her ears perked straight up for a moment listening in case there was anyone else around who he might have been with, but all she heard was silence. She smiled when he mentioned her old home, perhaps he could tell her what she didn't remember about that place at least. "What do you... remember about that our old... home?" she asked trying not to sound strange, she definitely didn't want to come off as weird. "this land is very... peculiar... a lot of it's inhabitants don't know... what we a-are."

kenton snorted and shook his head. "the others...no. i want to keep myself seperate from our kind for now. little meetings like this are fine, but i will not join in with a big herd of Cerynei." he smiled. "i want to make a name for myself here. i will not be seen as the immagrant. i want folks to know who i am." he looked down at the ground almost shamefully. "as for our old home, i am trying to forget. the past is the past, and it does no good to dwell on things that we cannot change."

Irena tilted her head, she was puzzled as to why he wouldn't want to be back with the others, with family. "Ah... really? Don't you... don't you want... want to reconnect with... your friends and family?" She furrowed her brow, she would do anything just to find out who her friends and family were. Who she was. "Do you... you not like... large crowds?... Err forgive me for... asking so many personal... questions... you don't have to answer them," added in hesitantly, 'some people have thins they don't want to remember'. She was a bit shocked to hear that he didn't want to recall their old lands, though it made perfect sense, the sooner they got over it the sooner they could assimilate into this area with the other kinds. "Well... t-thats true..." She frowned a little and stared at her hooves, she seemed to be doing the exact opposite of him.

Kenton smiled. "why don't be sorry. curiosity is a learning tool." he gathered his thoughts on how to answer her questions. "as for my family, i lost them in a fire when i was very young. i hardly remember them. i never really had any friends, and its not like i didnt want to be around others, I just seemed to find myself alone alot." he shrugged and looked at Irena. something was odd about her. the way she kept looking around and her stammering speech. it was kind of starting to annoy him. "what about you, weres your family and friends?"
