As summer meandered it's was toward leaf fall, Savith found himself awake in the pre-dawn darkness, a fresh ocean wind wisking away the marginaly unrestful sleep he'd managed to find. Moving from his nest, the Chosen clipped his now working talonwhip to his hip and slipped on the top part of what had once been a one piece uniform. Cut at the hips, and left unbuttoned, it formed a sort of pants and short jacket combination, leaving midriff and chest bare.
He flew up, over the cliff, eyes closing as the crisp air that rushes before a rising sun greeted him, and an almost relaxed smile came to him. Refreshed for the moment, he hovered, looking down for a river in which to fish for breakfast for the group.
He drifted down, hand falling to his weapon, and pulling it free so the claws could open with a sinisterly echoing click. All trace of smile vanished as his mind set upon his task.

Dewpaw was once more wondering through the forest, a common pasttime for her now. She seemed to always be out there now, with or without her wolf bond. Today, she was without, the wolf having decided to stay back and sleep outside the cave she shared with Dancer. While Dew was still sleeping at night, she was determined to get some hours in teh forest before the sun rose.
The cub found a river, not quite sure if it was one she had already been too or not. Her knowledge of the area wasn't that good yet, but she was determined to learn it. She wanted to learn every river and stream, every path and rock and tree. Only then could she say it was her new Holt, once she knew it. As she walked, her nose picked up the familiar scent of her favorite Glider, and she decided, sneaking up on him would be fun.

The question was: How does one sneak up on one who has altitude on their side?
Eyes on the river, the Chosen drifted down to hover above the water, staring down into the reflective depths. Like a hawk poised on a thermal air current waiting for prey, the glider hung in midair, waiting.

The answer is: Dew can SMELL him not SEE him, therefore, she does not yet know he is airborn.
Dew fell to a crouch, following the scent of the Glider whenever the breeze came to her. She wasn't sure yet where he was, because she had not yet been able to spot him. But she knew he was close, based on the scent. Soon, Dew stopped walking, slightly confused. She could smell Savith. She knew his scent. But she couldn't see him. He wasn't on the river bank adn she didn't see him in the trees. Of course, she wasn't sure he could even climb trees. Dew glanced around again, still confused.
The cub never looked up.

Long moments passed as Savith waited for a fish to drift sleepily from one rock to another; it was then he struck.
With a splash, his talonwhip sunk into the water, the trigger between the claws snapping the talons shut when the weapon hit the body of his prey. The silvery rope snapped taunt when Savith felt the weapon connect and he closed his hand on the rope and snapped it back toward himself with a jerk of elbow and wrist.

Dew jumped as something struck the water near her. Losing her balance, she fell, reather ungracefully, on her bottom. The wolfrider looked at the surface of the water, wondering what had caused the splash. She saw a rope of some kind, and fllowed it up to...
*Savith, what are you doing?* she sent, slightly angry at being starled adn not being able to sneak up on the Glider, who apparently hadn't noticed her until now.

The talonwhip, clutching a now dead fish, sailed up to Savith's other hand, held outstretched to catch it by the handle. At the send, the glider quirked a brow, looking over once the weapon was securely in his grasp. **Fishing,** he replied calmly, squashing the startled emotion brought on by being sneaked up upon with an air of arrogant pride. **Hungry,** he asked lightly.

Dew shook her head, *No* she sent as a reply *Just out for a walk. Trying to learn the forest. Do you always fish at such odd hours? I thought you slept all night, yet you always seem to be up.* She sent, once more letting her curiosity go. It was true, she had heard that most tribes slept at night, that the wolfriders were basically the only nocturnal ones. Yet Savith seemed to be up at night more often than her.

Savith drifted from above the river, moving next to Dewpaw on the bank, while dislodging the limp fish from his weapon. **Don't mind if I eat, do you,** he asked softly, listening to her curious prattle. **I'm fishing because I want to eat before I go find more for everyone else for breakfast when they wake, and I don't sleep all that much, and not as much at night as one would think.**

Dew was glad that Savith was no longer above her, she didn't like having to constantly look up. However, just like before, her eyes locked on the brightmetal, and she had to force herself to look away as he sent to her. *An answer for everything.* she sent with a smile and a small laugh. He did seem to have an answer for everything and seemed to cover all of his bases. *You're up so much at night. Maybe you're part wolfrider and you just don't know it.* The send was meant as a joke, and it was clearly evident in her tone.

A joke Savith seemed not to find funny, for his mind replied with a chilled, **You have no idea.** The words were withdrawn, with edges sharper than a brightmetal dagger, freshly honed against a whet stone. His lips pressed into a thin line as he settled to the ground and dropped gracefully to his rump, setting the talonwhip down at his side.

Dewpaw took a step back, putting more space between her and the glider. She hadn't expected that kind of response, neither his answer nor his tone. She looked at him, wondering if soemthign else was bugging him, but she couldn't tell. she almost never could with him. Of course, her abilities to read people were about average, most of the others were easy to read, or just bad at hiding things. He was different, and it bugged her. She liked knowing things, adn not knowing him bugged her. But not annoyance. It was something else. Something she felt when her brotehr had hidden things from her.
*What's wrong?* Her send was timid as it was before, when they had a talk she thought would be similar to this. Just like beofre, she wasn't sure what she was expecting. She didn't even think he'd answer. He hadn't before.

Savith pulled his boot knife free, turning his gaze to his breakfast. A soft sigh escaped him, and he shook his head lightly in the pre-dawn darkness. **Nothing that you need to worry about, cubling,** he sent, the feel of his mind suddenly much softer, much more withdrawn and almost hesitant. **Sorry if it upset you,** he added as he began to gut the fish, taking a moment to lick some of the blood off a thumb.

*You keep saying that!* Dew sent in reply, her voice still somewhat timid, but it was evident that she was getting to be a little angry. She was mad that she had opened up to him and told him so much back that first night she returned from her old Holt, yet he would never do the same. She didn't like that he felt teh need to hide everything, to act like he was alone. *Why won't you tell anyone anything? I told you everything. I told you about my brother and losing everyone. And missing my home. And everything.* Dew walked toward him as she spoke, making sure to stomp her feet, *I don't like that you feel you can't tell anyone anything! It's not right to have to hide. It's not right not to have anyone!* By the time she finished, her sends were not longer timid and she stood staring down at Savith, waiting for an answer.

Savith looked up as Dewpaw stomped her way toward him, hands pausing in their work of cleaning the fish. **There is too much to tell, cub, and none of it pleasant,** was his reply, mind soft in contrast to her anger. Almost subdued, his mind sought to supply answers without supplying answers. **You are young, and don't need to be weighed down by it. None of you do. It's already common knowledge the hurt I've caused and my concern over my own actions in leading everyone to survival. It wouldn't be wise, in my eyes, to add to everyone's concerns by voicing any more.**
