Spring was on its way and Rachel couldn't be happier. The snow that had so recently covered the ground in that area was finally starting to melt and green grass was starting to crop up much more regularly. Which was a good thing, since teaching flight classes over snow and ice kind of doesn't work.

Today the man was out on the grass to teach another previous student - well, not really student as Rachel hadn't exactly taught him anything. The hawk had been having a horrid time adjusting to being a teacher here originally and had been told he couldn't teach the Wrath/Chastity boy to fly so he'd had to bs a class and that had ended in a well deserved tongue lashing from the kid's guardian.

Now a bit more adjusted and allowed to teach his proper field, Rachel hoped to maybe make up for the last class. Though, given his style was still a bit weird, that depended highly on Lit.

Santana's Jeep pulled up in front of the facility to let Litural out. They talked for a moment, not realizing the teacher was standing out in the yard, before Lit shut the door and his guardian drove off. It wouldn't be until Litural started heading towards the building that he'd see the other man standing on the grass, causing him to pause. He remembered how angry Santana had been several months back...and mildly wondered how the wolf man would feel about Rachel making a second attempt at teaching a skill

Well, nothing he could do about it right now. He was stuck here until Santana came back from his errands. Sighing, Litural continued onward...not smiling, his face rather uninterested as he made his way towards the teacher.

"You again," he started, only half acknowledging the fact that his third eye was sizing the man up. "Gonna actually teach me something this time?"

"That highly depends on how willing you are to learn." Rachel responded, ignoring the fact that he was being sized up by that eye. Well, why shouldn't the boy size him up and question him? He'd failed the first time, so his track record with this one wasn't exactly good.

"Have you done much exercise or practice with your wings as of yet?"

"My wings?" Lit asked, taking a glance back at the double pair of red-stained feathers. They shifted some, and Lit wasn't entirely sure if it was under his doing or their own.

"Not really...I didn't think they served a purpose other than to get in my way," he said with a shrug.

It was mentioned that Lit had to make the best of his time here, right? Okay, granted, some of Santana's skepticism about the man had definitely rubbed off on the child - his third eye wouldn't leave Rachel for a second, intent on keeping him under a careful watch - but the boy was always interested in trying new things.

And if worse came to worse, he'd just head off into the facility. He was due for a new parent meeting, wasn't he? If this didn't work out, he'd just get that over and done with.

Rachel nodded, making a note of this. "Well, then direct flight lessons won't be completely possible at this point without a bit of practice. It's not a good idea to try to lift one's body weight when your wings haven't been worked enough to do such a thing. We can probably do some stretches and I can show you how to at least start training your wings so they aren't as much in your way and are more useful to you."

(Please note: While Rachel actually would know what sort of wing movements and steps are necessary to properly get ones wings into shape, the Deeg does not so exactly what moves they are doing while they work will be partly skimmed over just so I don't end up saying something wrong and making him look OOC and stupid. If you have any objections to this, please let me know. :3)

The boy's head nodded. At least he was sounding slightly more intelligent this time; what he was saying about the wings made sense. It was like the first "lesson"...start off with the small stuff and as you get stronger, work on the heavier crap.

"Okay, sounds like a plan," he said finally, though he didn't move any closer to the teacher.

He liked his distances, and the one established between them was perfect for him. He looked at Rachel expectantly, still as a statue, only blinking every so often: first the two, then the one.

(( It's your character, play him anyway you want. You could have him say "In order to fly, you need to eat cheese." and Lit wouldn't know the difference. He'd question Rachel about it, sure, but in the end it's up to him what he teaches Lit. ))

"You're going to want to stay there, since you'll be needing a good amount of room for your wings to move about in. First thing you'll be needing to do is stretch your wings out to full size so as to make sure you have them all under control."

This explanation was accompanied by Rachel stretching his own wings out and back. He didn't think Lit really needed a demonstration of that but they'd be moving on to other positions from there so he might as well get ready.

Lit watched the teacher, and then glanced over his shoulder at his own double-pair of wings. They opened as he flexed his muscles, a little shaky at first but then in a smooth movement until they were at their full span.

He was amazed at how natural it felt; like waking from a nap. There was an initial fog, but that was quick to lift when the wings realized that this was what they were meant to do all along.

"Wow," he breathed, more than a little impressed even with the small movement.

Rachel waited a bit for Lit to get out of his haze and gave him a moment to be impressed at the movement he'd just done. If the boy really hadn't done such a thing before, it was reasonable that he'd need a few to take in the idea. After that moment or two, however, it was time to get back to business.

"All right, next it'd probably be a good idea to move them each about a bit - just light stuff and getting them ready for the real exercises." the man explained, idly fluttering his wings about at points. He was mostly just trying to move them now and again so as to keep on the same mental level with the activity as what he was instructing. If he didn't at least go along with what he was saying, he'd lose track of what did and didn't work given Lit's experience versus his own.

Lit turned and watched the movement of Rachel's wings, looking rather unimpressed with the simplicity of it all. Okay, so it was clear that he could move his wings now and was getting more comfortable with the action as the minutes ticked past. He wanted to do something a little more daring.

"How are these things going to support my weight?"

The boy bounced a bit on the balls of his feet, getting a little more air each time....not fluttering his wings, but certainly expressing his interest to get up off the ground.

"Shouldn't be too hard, right? I mean, I have an extra pair most people don't have...this should be easy!"

"Having the extra pair will make things easier as you gain the ability to fly. However, trying to actually lift yourself too much with them given how little you've actually done to exercise your wings would probably be detrimental. They might be able to get you a bit of lift, but holding your weight up for a longer period of time when they aren't ready to might injure them." Rachel explained. "Don't get too cocky on your first day."

As if he weren't speaking to a student who seemed set on his own ideas, the man moved his wings into a more serious stretching position that would generally hurt a bit to do for someone newer to this. Daring was good in it's own right, but there was a fine line between daring and stupid. He did at least get up on the balls of his feet as well to keep a bit of the fun in for Lit.

The boy sighed deeply, frustrated that limits were being put on his attempts. He watched the teacher stretch out his wings, and mimicked the movement as best as he could. His main eyes winced ever so slightly from the strain, but his third eye bore into Rachel, as if daring the man to give him more challenging exercises to do.

"Come on," Lit said, suppressing a hiss as his wings gently trembled. "Give me something more challenging to do. This stuff's still too easy."

Rachel stopped a moment and turned to the preteen. "Things that are less easy are going to hurt a good bit more. If you don't mind being sore for a few days, I'll show you something harder but that'll be on your head, not mine. I'm warning you now of the risks. If you choose to take them, then you will have to be the one taking responsibility for it. I'm not having your father yelling at me when you're the one who made the choice, knowing what would happen."

Lit took the moment of distraction to relax his wings, glaring Death at Rachel for the way the man was speaking to him. The problem was that now he felt like he was being challenged, and it was a rare occurrence for Lit to back off from a challenge.

"Whatever...Santana would be proud of me for pushing myself and not being limited by what others think I can or can't do." It was a half truth, because of course if Lit ended up getting hurt then Santana would scold him for trying to push himself too hard.

Not that Lit was going to mention that now.

"Bring it on," he said, finalizing his decision.

Rachel shrugged. Whatever, the kid had made his choice and he'd been warned of the repercussions beforehand so there was no saying Rachel hadn't done that part of his job. Honestly though, it ticked him off a little that the boy was going to glare at him for being spoken to in a way that the man would address most anyone. To him, it had seemed like Lit had been challenging him as a teacher by trying to do more and demanding harder tasks.

Spreading his large wings, the brunette began to immediately pump them to give himself some lift. He demonstrated how to push off from the ground with the legs and waited in the air for Lit. "First, to start anything harder, we'll need to be off the ground." Neither challenge nor condescending statement, just a fact, really, since that was how he planned to begin.
