 Vidia finally stirred as the morning sun would start to rise, but it was dark where she rested. Ah yes, she had stayed the night with a stallion by the name of Zuilian. The day before blurred in fast forward as she took a soothing drink of water from the small babbling stream. It seemed almost too good to be true. How many times had she thought she found her heart only to have it broken before?
Well, no sense in being rude and fleeing at the first chance. She was showing him her herd for his two-legger's safety. It wasn't anything special. She would do just that, she resolved as she straightened her feathers on her tail while she waited for the rest of them to rise and be ready to leave.

Truth be told, the stallion and his two-legger had been up for a couple of hours already and both were nervously packing and unpacking things. Well...Adsali was packing while Zui was unpacking. It was difficult to say which one of them was more nervous about this trip. Finally exasperated, Adsali shooed Zuilian away from the packs and indicated that he should check on their guest. The young woman gave the jittery stallion a small basket of apples and pushed him towards the cave. It was a diffiuclt task, made even more so by the fact that Zui was digging his hooves into the ground. Shaking her head and sighing, Adsali gave up and returned to packing after giving the stallion a sharp glare as if to say "Go on before I get back over there and start pushing again!"
Zuilian shifted uneasily at the entrance to Vidia's sleeping quarters and set down the basket of fruit. Taking a deep breath to calm himself, the stallion politely cleared his throat to get her attention, then said, "A-ah, g-good morning Vidia. If you're awake I-I thought I might b-bring in some breakfast." Zui chided himself mentally for sounding like a complete spaz and waited for Vidia to answer.

She turned her head from trying her best to fix the few braids that had gotten tangled in the rest of her tail, preening as her father pointed out when he cleaned his wings. "Oh, thank you, Mister Zuilian. It would be best to eat now so there aren't any delays," she said with a gracious smile as she moved closer to take an apple from the basket.

Zuilian nodded his agreement and moved to take an apple as well. "That's an excellent idea Vi... I mean Miss Vidia. I believe Adsali is a bit upset with me." The stallion gave a wry smile at this statement, remembering what the two-legger had down to get him out of the way.

She took a bite of hers, leaving a few pieces on the floor. "Why would she be upset with you? Does she not want to leave?" It would make perfect sense if the two-legged didn't agree with the Soquili. It happened often enough.

He shook his mane and said, "That would probably be because I kept trying to help her pack. I wasn't doing a very good job to be honest." Zui gave a wry laugh as he took an apple and bit into it. He lapsed into silence as he chewed the piece of apple thoughtfully.

She shook her head as she let out a laugh. "I'm sure her separated hooves do better than ours would with the packing." She followed swiftly behind him into silence, finishing up her apple as she tried to imagine the scene in her head. It would have been a sight to see for sure.

Zui nodded in agreement as he crunched another piece of apple. "Maybe it was because I kept taking things out instead of putting things away," he admitted with a sheepish shuffle of hooves.

She continued to chuckle under her breath. Oh, the image only got better as he admitted his failing in packing. "Then I'm certain she didn't appreciate your help." But something nagged at her, perhaps he wasn't ready for the whole herd experience.
She glanced towards the cave entrance. "Are you sure you want to be part of a herd, Mister Zuilian?" Herd life wasn't for everyone. Especially in the heart of a family herd when there was no blood tie.
