Dark paws danced across the plains in a nervous waltz with no partner. Olive eyes darted at the same pace, and a mouth turned down at the corners. Kamau was nervously making his way from the safety of a thorny scrub to the watering hole he knew to only be a few miles away. It was such a hazardous crossing because it was the migration of the grazers, and he was born looking like one, small and brown like a weak suckling calf. It was in frequent intervals that he would skirt past a pride, eyes clearly fearful and bleating out a roar to let them know he was no meal. And each time, they laughed and chuckled, some even picking up to follow him before growing bored. He was nervous and anxious as twigs snapped and so would his neck. He grimaced and growled as it happened more often, and as the beasts became more numerous. The dumb grazers were like sheep walking towards the slaughter, and Kamau could only hope the same could not be said for him.
He had nearly reached the halfway mark of a large tree before the normal ambience of rustling grass and cattle calls were disturbed.
"Oof!"
The lion turned on his heels, ears pinned and tail between his legs in fear, but what he saw behind him was a white mass punctuated by black.... And pink. Stepping backwards, Kamau took in that it was a leopard. A clumsy one at that. He rumbled from within his chest, throwing it out to look intimidating.
"Oi! What do you think you're doing, following me! Some nerve you've got! I outta take you out for that!"
The white form grew legs and leapt backwards as the lion advanced.
"Oh-Oh no, mister! I didn't mean to! I was uh, just trying to follow you because its easier to walk where someone's already cleared the grass......" The leopard trailed off, and Kamau realized he was even more pathetic than he. Perfect! He smirked and advanced again, watching the leopard retreat in his tracks.
"Oh, so you were taking advantage of me, then? That's a horrible thing for someone to do to another." He frowned for effect.
