-The Graveyard- We've lost many shinobi in Shimagakure since the beginning. Some have left to the mainland and some have lost their life protecting our village and way of life. Here in the graveyard are stones piled up above the ground representing the nameless lives lost and stone heads with the names of our heroes. With the ending of the Black Spring events, those numbers rose drastically with the deaths of many of the villagers and their shinobi protectors. Kneeling in the cold ground in front of her second husband's burial stone, Tenmoki Yuki's tears fell silently down her cheeks as they had been doing for the entire winter. She had lost her husband, she had lost her son and now her daughter had left in search for Uchiha Ichi, the one man that kept this village alive. Taking the small handkerchief she held, Yuki dabbed the tears off her rosy cheeks that had turned red from the slightly cold air. It felt like the second time Yuki had lost her husband. The first being to the Orochi poison that had transformed him into an Akumu. There were hardly anymore Orochi's left in this world. Yuki had been told to look after Shisei, but it had been bad timing for the young Orochi to come to the village. Yuki had barely spoken to the boy since her heavy depression set in. He wasn't a cheerful and chipper boy like her own children, but she knew that she should still be giving him the attention that she would give her own children.
Standing up from the stone, Yuki brushed her hand over it. "I miss you," she whispered into the cool air of the evening. It had been months now since Yuki had given the village any attention or the academy students a lesson. It was time for her to straighten up and step back into her strong shell and be the woman who was meant to run the village after Ichi. She knew that Shinichi had taken charge after Ichi's death, but she had not been there to aid him. Shinichi was always the type to be alone, but as Kage of the village he would have to accept her aid and like it. With her mind cleared and her soul cleansed, she let go of the stone leaving her jasmine flowers to rest with Sachiriku and Seshiro.

"DhanDhan! DhanDhan!" Tomoko sang gaily as she marched up to the grave site where such happy singing was not usually heard. "Now!" Tomoko said as she plopped down on the ground in front of all the assorted graves. "DhanDhan's grave...." Tomoko said as she scanned the names on the graves, but did not see one that was marked as her brothers. "Rmmm~" she hummed with a growl as she stood back up and examined all the graves closely. Using her detective skills, Tomoko stood over a recently upturned mound of dirt that had a single rock thrown down on top of it with no name and no type of markings. "This is DhanDhan!" the woman cheered as she began to roll the rock away from over the grave. "Seiko-kun, dig!" the woman ordered pointing to the mound of dirt with one hand and then pointing to a nearby shovel with the other.

Walking into the graveyard the boy noticed very few graves for as long as this island had been in existence. Some were shinobi he presumed and others may have been villagers. All and all still very few. As Tomoko looked around for this Dhan person Seiko wondered why did she need to bring him back? He was a Meho after all. As she found the grave and order him to start digging the boy had the urge to smack her in the face with the shovel. Ordering him around like he was some slave. Grabbing the shovel the boy gripped it tightly as he rose it above his head and brought it down on the upturned dirt. Repeating the process the boy was digging at a good rate for now. The ground wasnt to hard surprisingly due to the winter frost.

Stopping to wipe the sweat from his brow Seiko watched his breath for a moment. He was not use to such physical labor. He worked on scrolls and cooked most of his life. This was something he never though he would have to do. Sucking it up he began to dig again. It was a little slower of a pace but he was more than halfway finished it seemed. Who ever dug this grave was not very thorough with it. Must graves were at least six feet deep. This one only ran about four or five. Digging the boy was quick to toss the dirt in Tomoko's direction every once in awhile to signify his displeasure in this form of labor. She would learn a few things about him one way or another.

Seiko pushed through none the less to his displeasure. As he dug he soon struck a solid object he assumed was a rock by the sound it made when struck. Placing down his shovel he moved the dirt from around the rock. Shaking his head he looked up at Tomoko. "Someone really doesn't want this body to be dug up." Knowing the woman's responses of any kind would be to continue he did not wait. Picking up the rock, which was slightly heavier than he though it would be. He rolled it out of the grave. Pushing all the way up on a flat surface to he had no chance of falling back on him. The last thing he needed was to break anything.

Sitting down in the grave. Seiko was to tired to continue. He would have much rather been sleeping with all his nightmares than continue to dig up this Meho's grave site. If anything he would have much rather killed this Meho himself. Had he been able to survive it. Put the mans head on a pike and send it back to HAHA island with the words Jio's live cut into the forehead. He wanted to enrage every Meho and than wipe them out 10 at a time. The power he could have to bring down an entire race of people. That is what he wanted. A power so grand he could lead an army and take one out as well. He wanted to be feared for the strength he could muster.

Leaning against the shovel Seiko found himself rather apathetic about this body. He was more interested in why Tomoko would be digging up a body. She said something early that day about bringing him back. If she brought him back wouldn't he just go on another mindless rampage? What was she trying to prove by doing this. Seiko knew that this Meho couldn't have meant that much to her. Monsters were all they were. Good for nothing monsters who deserved to die. Why would anyone want to bring back a monster?

Going back to shoveling away the dirt surrounding the body of a dead warlord. Seiko dug harder to finish faster. He was ready to take a bath and forget the past few days. As he dug he hit another unknown object. As he struck it again it did not make the same sharp sound as the rock did. He began to strike it multiple times till the shovel broke through reveling a leg. He had found the body. He had dug up the body of Meho Dhan. "I found the body." The boy said as he climbed out the hole. "Now get out yourself."

Orika knew something was wrong when Tomoko led them towards the path leading to the cemetery. Knowing enough about the woman's crazy nature lead Orika to fear the worse. Her heard swirled to with talk of different dimensions and the strange bit about Tomoko saying she would probably die if she went to different dimensions. Was that it? "Are you sending our dead into the void?" Orika asked, wondering what sick thoughts were propagating in Tomoko's head. No, she needn't jump to such horrible conclusions. She could be visiting a grave, though Orika couldn't remember anyone named DhanDhan buried there. The girl passed by her father's grave and smiled sadly. She watched the Jio pair out of the corner of her eye while she prepared a food offering for his grave using plates set out just for that purpose. Since the meat would smell, Orika set up a colorful arrangement of dried fruits and bread. "Hey, dad," she said softly, standing back to observe the prettified grave, "It's another festival. I'm sure you would have fun playing football with all the guys. I didn't watch the game this year cause well... You told me to find something I loved to keep me hanging on in spite of all the bad things in the world. I think I might be one step closer." The day they spent hunting for meats for the festival was truly memorable and really fun too. Orika chuckled and waved goodbye to her father, then skipped away to where Tomoko and Seiko were.
"What are you doing?" the farm girl cried, speeding up her pace when she saw Seiko with a shovel disgracing one of the graves. She looked for the tomb marker and was surprised to find that the grave was new. In fact, whoever was down there was just buried in the last few days, with the dirt piled on top of the crushed snow. "I don't remember anyone dying recently," she muttered, now truly confused as to exactly whom this mysterious Dhan person was. When the stink hit her nose, Orika peered over the edge of the shallow pit, frowning when she saw that Seiko hadn't even bothered to do a proper job digging. "I'm coming, DhanDhan!" Orika announced, seizing the shovel and hopping down into the grave. She didn't feel good desecrating a grave, but it had been unmarked, meaning that something was up and the farm girl was determined to find out what. She shoveled away the dirt surrounding the person's lower body and then made indentations on the wall so she could climb out and carry the corpse. Seizing the body by the legs, she tugged him out of the dirt, huffing as the heavy carcass pulled her down. Orika set the body down on the floor and whistled The guy was huge, apparently killed by dismemberment, as his stomach was still ripped open and crawling with maggots. There was really only one person in the village with the capability to cause such a horrific wound. "Why'd Shinichi-sama kill DhanDhan?" Orika asked innocently, wiping away the dirt on his face to see who it was. She immediately jumped backwards with a cry when the still grinning face, wide-eyed face of the man who had picked up by the collar in the weapons' shop and even let her play with the shrunken heads that were still attached to his belt. "Wait a sec... Where's DhanDhan's big sword?" Orika wondered aloud, frowning as she failed to come up with a single other person besides maybe Hammah-san that could even lift such a monstrous weapon.

Climbing out of the hole Seiko laid down and looked up at the sky. His breath growing white and than fading over and over. He knew nothing of this man and he knew nothing of his sword. He knew why Shinichi had called the man though. While valuable information nothing he was willing to give. As the boy raised a hand up in the air he looked at it oddly. He wondered what it would be like to kill someone. As he thought this a voice rang into his mind. "Why wonder when you can do it for yourself?"
Seiko's body shoot up from the ground and looked around trying to find the voice and its source. Looking around he saw nothing but the two annoying women and graves. "What are you looking for silly? I am not out there I am in here." The female voice rang through his head again. "Who are you?" Seiko said out loud as if someone was right in front of him. "I am Redemption. You can call me red if you like baby."
The boy listened again but the voice still sounded like it was inside his head. It was like someone was inside his mind taking control of some part of him. He listened and waited for the voice again. "Aww, dont worry baby Redemption isnt going to hurt you. I am just going to show you the joys of pain."

"Yaya~" Tomoko cheered as she hopped into the grave and began pulling out Dhan's body with Orika. "Hated-one has never liked Tomoko's DhanDhan," the islander said as she brushed away more dirt from Dhan's face. "Uuuuuuuuuurha~" Tomoko whined in frustration as she noticed how torn up Dhan's body was. "Tomoko has a lot to do~" she sighed as she heaved Dhan up from under the arms as bugs began to fall out of his stomach. The site would definitely make Orika and Seiko nausea to their stomach... Well, maybe not Orika since she had gutted animals at the farm, but definitely Seiko the city boy. "Tomoko doesn't know where Ikatsugi-Ago is," the woman grunted as she continued to drag Dhan's body away from the gravesite. "Mai's-one should find it for Tomoko," the woman continued as she drug her brother away from the garveyard. "Mai's-one shouldn't touch it though! Mai's-one soul might get eaten by it," Tomoko grunted as she continued to drag Dhan away. "Come Seiko-kun!" Tomoko ordered her little Jio to follow her as they would continue to the next steps!

"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself," Orika said with a cheeky grin, though knowing full well she had said her name beforehand. People were just slow to learn names sometimes. "I'm Tokiha Orika, daughter of Tokiha Mai! Nice ta meet ya, Seiko." When the boy continued to ignore her, she cocked her head to the side as if waiting for a response, but he was still acting strangely. "Okay, then. Have it your way," the girl muttered, turning away to go find Dhan's sword. Orika gave Tomoko a cheery thumbs up as she scrambled away to look for the weapon that was so awesome it even had a freaking name! But then... how was she supposed to lift such a heavy weapon and without touching it too! Surely, Tomoko was crazy. Then again, she already knew that. Orika hummed as she ran from the graveyard as fast as she could, as was her style.

Seiko heard Tomoko calling him and quickly snapped out of his trance like state. Standing up and fixing his spiked hair he followed behind the woman. Smelling the rotting flesh of Dhan's body was worse than viewing the site of his own parents massacre. Speeding up a little he began to move in front of the woman trying to avoid losing all the barbecue he at just mere moments ago. He knew that he would have to touch this fowl body soon. The woman had been waiting for this moment all day. She made him find where Dhan was, than practice Fu symbols so she could eventually summon him. Now she had his body and she would more than likely repair it so she could bring him back from the dead. What had Seiko gotten himself into?

The spring day was serene and quiet. Very peaceful with the snow forming into pools of water around grave stones and the walkways to graves. The graveyard was wet as if now drying off from a shower previous. This site was something new to Shimagakure. Previously before this section of the island was dirt with a few makeshift wooden crosses, by brats who felt the need to place some symbolism of departed family. As if to prove the person did exist at a time. Some things have changed physically with the island, but as if the sundial of this island stopped moving its shadow despite the time of day, Shimagakure did not change. And this large sundial that did not change in time had also plunged the serpent youth within its shadow making sure he could no longer progress.
The surviving serpent of the Orochi had done like he did for the last couple of days in being in Shimagakure. He’d get up early, before anyone else and make his way to the graveyard to think. No one else attended to this place. Since the war with Meho had finished and all sorrow has slightly lifted from people’s hearts he figured that this place or the forest of sorrows would be the best for solitude. The graveyard better because not many would stay for long periods of time in one. Yet he could. His small frame, barely bigger from the last time he lived in Shimagakure, had placed his chess board on a standing pile of rocks with the top level being flat. This allowed for the game to be played without any pieces shifting. As for the youth’s skeleton, it sat upon the stone head of Seshiro. One leg bent at the knee to keep grip on the stone was placed on the nose of the stone figure, while the other swung lazily back and forth. The sepia jacket was closed entirely up so the ankh at the top glittered in the sun. His mouth could not be seen and because the boy’s eyelids were so close to being shut his eyes just appeared to be two black voids in his ivory head. Maybe the child’s eyes were closed and he just did movements that turned out to be correct. Whichever be the truth the youth continued his solitary game of chess, making movements on both sides. To side chess board was an hourglass that had sand enough for a minute. The snake child timed himself for every move he made. Time was everything in this world and he squandered enough of his on the garbage that held him back on the island.
“Pawn angled in front of the queen takes two paces forward.”. Anyone passing by would probably wonder and jeer at the audacity and disrespect the snake student would have towards his own clan. Yet the dread hair did not care. If he did not respect them to begin with when they were alive, what was the point in respecting them in death? After all who cares about traitors to their own clans. The boy did not know much about the elder snake and his big brother. He never knew much about Oshu, the cunning one who had left the note in his head to find Shimagakure if anything had happened. What the last Orochi did know was that the three of them went out to commit genocide upon their own clan, which came to fruition. After that it seemed they betrayed this shinobi island for their own ambitions whatever that maybe. Although because of the gravestones one could assume that they were finally eliminated by the ninja of this village. Yet ironically the shinobi here made them heroes. “Knight moves forward to defend.”
The chess playing boy did not have much of an opinion for their actions. All he knew was that they aided in the obliteration of the Orochi clan. That was the three dead serpents' places in history: Traitors to a clan who failed to succeed in their ambitions. As for the Orochi clan their place in time was to be a part of grim fairytales and myths that mothers told their children at night to scare them into good behavior. But not the last of them. “Rook takes Queen. Pawn takes Rook.”The heartless boy had already perceived he would not end up the same way. If the teachers and people on this island failed him again, he’d find a way. If the teachers in Hyuuga or any other clan dispelled him, he’d find a way. Whatever person stood in his way, be it friend or foe, he’d kill them.
The young Orochi twirled the white king piece in his hand thinking of his next move to play. In the deathly quiet necropolis one could hear each grain of sand that slowly trickled from the hourglass. Only fifteen seconds left, yet the boy already knew what move he wanted to do for this turn twenty seconds ago. His mind was just contemplating the situation he’d face being back on island. Yet if the world would go against him the boy would find a way. “King moves forward.”. After all this boy was the last of the Orochi, the prodigy whose talents made him good in all areas, the genius whose always kept his sites on the things most important, the austere student whose mind does not waver at the birth of a child or death of a person, the boy who against the world, will take it and hold it hostage if need be. That is Orochi Shisei.
Checkmate One can get much insight from a game of chess. Just what is the serpent thinking of now? 1d20 + Intelligence[7]= 22 DC: 17 Train: 1/5
