The Legend Thousands of years ago, dragons were a thing of fiction, living only in storybooks and fairy tales. However, at the beginning of the new age, a colony of dragons were discovered living in the mountains of Italy. Out of fear that the dragons would attack the human population, hunting groups formed and disembarked for the mountains, killing any dragon in sight. Other expeditions went out to every corner of the earth, uncovering more and more dragon species that managed to escape attention for so long.
The fear of dragons grew to such an extent that dragons would have been hunted to extinction if it were not for the dragons. Sensing the loss of their race, the dragons began to bad together and attack the human cities, burning as much as they could in retaliation. This started the great Human-Dragon War. Years passed full of fear and bloodshed until a young soldier by the name of Baron found an abandoned dragon egg. Instead of crushing the egg like his commander ordered, Baron hid the egg and cared for it till it hatched in his arms, thus starting a partnership that would change history forever. Baron raised the dragon, naming it Gallor after the extreme amount of Spirit the dragon seemed to possess. With sudden realization, Baron and Gallor came to recognize that humans and dragons were not meant to fight each other, but rather live with each other. They then set out, gathering strong, sensible dragons and humans together and forming the Dragon Riders. These teams would go out, stopping the hunting and the battles and stopping the war. It took much effort, but peace was established and humans came to accept the dragons and began to discover how misunderstood they really were. The dragons eventually forgave the humans, understanding that this was all stemmed from needless fear. As the years past, Humans and Dragons began to live closely together, eventually families merged together and dragons and humans were able to create a comfortable life style for both sides.
However, not everything went smoothly after the war. With peace established, the Dragon Riders began to argue amongst themselves over how the dragons should be used in society. One side believed that now was the perfect time to use the dragons to establish their power over both races, and rule over them so that another outbreak of war would never happen again. The other side found this revolting and declared that the dragons should not be used as war weapons, but rather as tools to progress a growing age further. Unfortunately, these arguments escalated into a fierce battle between the opposing sides. The fierceness and destruction of the battle grew and grew and it threatened to expand into the city, which would have destroyed it entirely, had it not been for Baron and Gallor's interference. In a blinding light, the Original Dragon and Rider sacrificed themselves and drove out the other dragon’s spirits out of their bodies and into the wild. Finding themselves suddenly powerless, the two sides retreated and went into hiding where they secretly worked to form two opposing groups feuding secretly for eternity.
Now over 1,000 years later, dragons and humans live cooperatively. Humans now take care of the dragons; feeding them, housing them, and befriending them. In return, dragons offer their friendship and services, very much like horses used to do for their masters millennia ago. Dragons are now used in every aspect of human life, even entertainment. Great events such as races, shows, and even arena battles became very popular, making successful participants into celebrities.
The legend of Baron and the Dragon Riders has become a myth, a work of bedtime fiction. However, the battle between the Dragon Riders have continued through the centuries, passed down by their children and their children's children. Now two powerful and secret guilds alone know the truth about what happen a thousand years ago and still their hate for each other fuels them to fight each other in secret.
However, a new threat to the guilds appeared suddenly one night. About five years ago, a young Drake member named Bengalyn broke from the Clan and began a small guerrilla warfare against both the Drake and Spirit Clans. Both Clans were stunned by such fierce and sudden spirit and anger from one as young as this girl, however eventually members of the Drake Clan were able to surprise her one night, but at a terrible cost. Even though Bengalyn escaped, her dragon was killed in the fight. Bengalyn then disappeared from view, becoming a mere whisper amongst the guild. Every member in the guild knew her name, and she became a warning to young initiates when they misbehaved. Still her actions troubled the Clan elders, but what bothered them more was lack of news of the girl. After that fateful night, no one knew what had happened to the girl. She simply disappeared without any clue as to her whereabouts. Even with this worry, Bengalyn was pushed into the backs of their minds as new campaigns to overtake the opposing Clan were brought forth.

Info This is an RP for the Dragons, their Riders, and possible future Riders. You will be playing both your character and your dragon in this RP, so essentially you have two characters. Dragons are able to communicate mentally with their Riders, but can speak the human language while in the Young Adult and Adult stages. If you do not yet have a dragon, you are still able to participate in the thread, when you post your profile, simply say you do not yet have a dragon. Whenever you do get a dragon, just incorporate it into the roleplay.

Clans and their Philosophies There are many different groups within Dragon City, most of which are racing teams that work together and support each other when racing and competing. However, there are two groups that remain as secret organizations, hidden away from society. These groups are the Drake and Spirit Clans. These Clans have a long history of fighting between each other, and will oftentimes use all their resources in order to foil the other's attempts. In many ways, this is a private and secretive blood feud.
The Clans Drake Clan Name: After the name of the first dragon that was discovered. Philosophy: Dragons should be used as tools to ensure power and establish the clan as rulers over both races, so that murder and bloodshed like the Dragon-Human Wars would never happen again. Purpose: To gain power and stop any Spirit Clan activity History: Early attempts to gain power by the Drake Clan were forceful and oftentimes thwarted by the authorities as well as the Gallor Clan. Over time, the Drake Clan realized that to gain power, they needed to work with the system that was already in function. To do this they had to gain an office, to gain an office they needed to gain popularity to be voted into office. The way one was to gain popularity with the people was by winning races and contests and becoming a celebrity. So even though it would take more time, the Drake Clan drew back into more subtle ways to gain power.
Spirit Clan: Name: Named after the Spirit Dragon: Gallor Philosophy: Dragons should be used as a way to establish the new era and bring about a time of total peace where no ill thought or feeling will be present. Purpose: To convince the population to promote peace and love. To prevent members of the Drake Clan from gaining power. History: The Spirit Clan found the best way to gain attention was through good publicity. By building homeless shelters, school, and other public buildings, and then standing around shaking hands and smiling at cameras, they became domestic heroes. It is through this method that they attempt to gain public ear and attention so they are able to hold sway over the masses. However, building such things cost much money, so the Spirit Clan started participating in races and contests as way of income. This also served to up their popularity whenever they were doing well.
