 »»» Hello! This is my little quest for a Life Dust. n wn I was introduced to the thread by n e v e r l a n d - - xx way back when he first got Krinn. After a long time, I've decided to finally try for my own. :3 My first thought was to get a "scarecrow" dust, and I just can't seem to let go of the idea, so I'm going to quest as hard as I can for a custom. It'll probably take a really long time, but I'm totally willing to wait. n wn I'd love feedback and critique on my ideas, too! ♥

Instead of the friendly and musical Scarecrow of Oz, I'm going for a more horrific, darker, and creepier kind of scarecrow. Think of something out of a horror movie or dark novel. Now that I've explained the very basic concept, let's explore the past and meaning of scarecrows in general! A lot of my inspiration comes from this. n wn
Wikipedia says:
"In the Japanese mythology compiled in Kojiki in 712, a scarecrow appears as a deity, Kuebiko, who cannot walk, but knows everything of the world."
This introduces the idea that Scarecrows are intelligent; an idea I would incorporate into my Life Dust. A better- and more recognized- example of this would be the Scarecrow of Oz.
Wikipedia says:
"In Baum's classic 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the living scarecrow encounters Dorothy Gale in a field in the Munchkin Country while she is on her way to the Emerald City. The "mindless" Scarecrow joins Dorothy in the hope that The Wizard will give him a brain. They are later joined by the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion. After Dorothy and her friends have completed their mission to kill the Wicked Witch of the West, the Wizard gives the Scarecrow brains (made out of bran, pins and needles – in reality a placebo, as he has been the most intelligent of the travelers all along). Before he leaves Oz in a balloon, the Wizard appoints the Scarecrow to rule the Emerald City in his stead."
And,
"In his first appearance, the Scarecrow reveals that he lacks a brain and desires above all else to have one. In reality, he is only two days old and merely ignorant. Throughout the course of the novel, he demonstrates that he already has the brains he seeks and is later recognized as "the wisest man in all of Oz," although he continues to credit the Wizard for them. He is, however, wise enough to know his own limitations and all too happy to hand the rulership of Oz, passed to him by the Wizard, to Princess Ozma, to become one of her trusted advisors, though he typically spends more time playing games than advising."
The idea that the scarecrow doesn't know he's brilliant is another I'd include. From this role model I'd also take the carefree attitude and love of "playing games" instead of working. However, in keeping with the horror theme of my scarecrow, his carefreeness will come across as morbid disinterest. He will know he's smart, but wont show or admit it. I should also mention that my scarecrow won't be born smart, that's both impossible and ridiculous. xD; He'll gain his knowledge through a love of being outdoors. His personality is still being worked out in my head, but most of it would be shaped through time. n wn

I'd like it very much if he didn't have cloth skin. :3 I'd like him to appear human in shape. The look of the scarecrow from Wizard of Oz isn't really what I'm going for. > u< No pumpkin head, or cloth over his face or for a face. I'd prefer it if he appeared to be made out of different skins sewn together, almost exactly like gaia's Superior Form: Dead Doll Skin. n wn Stitches everywhere, with differing skin tones, maybe. It would be amazing if it could be done in a horror-like theme, or kind of a grotesque way, but not to the point he's ugly. xD;
Not straw for hair. I'd like him to have normal hair, with maybe straw or hay poking out, but not anything but normal hair. :3 Color doesn't really matter; though I'd prefer it not to be orange or brown. (A dark red-orange is the exception to the "no-orange" rule. :3) I like short, uneven hairstyles, so preferably nothing longer than his shoulders. I don't mind if there are random long streaks, though! I like those. Punk/Rock hairstyles are also really nice, as long as there aren't shaved parts. n wn Also, I'd like him to have bangs of some sort.
As for clothes... I'll leave most of this in the hands of the artist, since they know better than anyone what would look good. o wo My requests are that the clothes be stitched/patched, in keeping with his skin theme, and that he isn't dressed like a farmer, or the scarecrow from Wizard of Oz. (No shirt stuffed with hay.) ♥ Clothes from the early 1900s are cool, just as a very vague suggestion, but once again, I'll leave that up to the artist. :3
General:
Please no pastel colors. o uo Light blues and stuff like that aren't really my cup of tea. Halloween colors, like oranges, blacks, golds, whites, and warm colors would be great for his color scheme. :3 It would be nice if he had gold eyes, with heavy black/orange/red/gold above them, kind of like he's wearing eye shadow. I'd love it if he had kind of a threatening air about him. That's about it... :3 ♥

〤 but words can be worth it :: Tall, serious, and handsome. Milo looks like a relatively normal businessman in his sharply cut suits and crisply ironed shirts, but he has a wild air about him that never quite faded from his glory days on the streets. He smells like smoke and cinnamon, and doesn't care what people think about him, as long as he isn't bothering them. The dye has long since faded from his hair, finally revealing the natural medium-brown underneath. His hair is cropped short and orderly (although it doesn't look like that in the mornings). Brunette bangs fall just above his eyes, swept to the right, trendy but out of the way. Under sky-blue-tinted glasses are unusually pretty teal eyes, which he hides diligently to keep both women and men away. The glasses he never takes off are actually unnecessary, unbeknownst to everyone- they're just reading lenses. Standing at 6'2", Milo is tall but doesn't have a looming effect. He's more like a model than a mobster nowadays. The brunette has a vaguely muscular build; with streamlined and toned muscles, but not to the point they bulge. Milo's right ear is pierced twice, which is sort of his masochistic gay joke to the world. When asked about it, he just says "I've had it forever", which is half true: his ears were pierced when he was a teenager, but he took the ones on his left ear out after realizing he was in the closet. (Will be edited/More to be added later.)
〤 show me the real you :: Milo isn't a particularly exciting person. He likes routine and stability, though he tends to unwillingly get into trouble. Concentrated and loyal, Milo makes a good worker, though he doesn't let himself be abused. He's sort of distant from co-workers and doesn't have anything along the lines of "friends". The old gang blood still flows in his veins, and if someone pushes him or people he likes around, parts of his old personality emerge. He can be sort of scary at times; with his strength, height, and vicious-if-provoked personality. Milo's anger, however, is usually passive-aggressive. When upset he'll become dark and looming like a demon. When faced with a problem, he'd rather sort it out so that everyone else is happy, even at his own expense. Milo diligently pretends not to care about people, but he does, regardless of how distant he acts. Still being added on. ♥
〤 find out my past :: As a child, Milo blatantly ignored authority. He became a delinquent at a surprisingly young age and started running with a bad crowd, much to the dismay of his parents. Milo's smooth attitude and fierce personality soon earned him his own gang, which quickly earned a reputation. Stealing, fighting, and cheating became a part of Milo's everyday life, and eventually he lost contact with his parents. Every night for years he slept in a different place, traveling about the city with his band of hoodlums from day to day. One event, however, changed his perspective of life forever. A member of his gang was out stealing alcohol as part of a nightly raid, and got caught up in a car accident on the way back. Even though Milo knew the car couldn't have been stopped, he quickly realized the fate of his gang. They would either be picked off one by one through accidents or fights, or they would fall to alcoholism or illnesses from their bad habits. Not wanting to risk any more lives, Milo disbanded the gang and swore to turn his life around. He took a job at the bustling market, eventually working his way from position to position until he became the CAO of a more prominent food supplier. Milo has now settled into a routine lifestyle, rarely straying into the unpredictable or dangerous situations that used to make up his life. More to be added. ♥

Definitely love the scarecrow theme so you get kudos for picking it alone. And yay! Cada won't be the only one with strange skin so double kudos!
A scarecrow dust with stitched skin and a pestilence dust with dead skin ftw! XD
As for your concept I find nothing overtly wrong with it. I believe Dust with the new management are going for something tangible as apposed to intangible feelings and entities. So you have a solid idea.
I like that you explain the various identities of a scare crow I never knew that about the Wizard of Oz at the end so awesome for me. I don't have trouble understanding the concept, your page is nicely laid out, the guardian seems solid enough (I'll have to do some more reading up on him when I have a bit more time *going to work* Lawlz) But over all I say its a nice concept so far.
Keep at it. Can't wait to see the finished product.
