Fairlorn & the Black Tower
After the world broke the Asha'man found that their tower had moved to an island. After searching this island from end to end they were able to see the white tower from the South end. After realizing this they quickly began to build the Black Tower to rival that of the white, a process that took almost twenty years.
While the tower was being built by a rotating crew of Asha'man a man arose to take over the position of M'hael. this man, Rittuk Fairlorn, was a natural born leader and he lead the men to explore the world. Unable to travel due to the fact that the Asha'man could not know where they would be going, they had to cross the new oceans by boat. After reaching the new lands they began to search for people, whom they quickly transported back to the island named after the new M'hael, Fairlorn.
Working closely with the Aes Sedai, they turned the newly founded land into makeshift countries, in order to reunite as many friends and families as possible. From there they left the politics to the people, some choosing to rename their newly founded countries after those they had lived in previously, and others after the new heroes who helped brave the new world. After settling in, some of these new found neighbors began to follow the path of their ancestors and they built armies to war over territory.
The black tower quickly found itself forming into factions. At first this started fights amongst the ranks. As these factions grew Rittuk Fairlorn knew that he had to do something about this situation before it grew out of control and the Asha'man began to kill each other instead of just fight amongst themselves. With the help of a few of his advisors they decided to follow the model of the Aes Sedai and began to form their own version of the Ajahs. They named these Asha'man ajahs the Haran Din, meaning Hand of Brothers in the Old Tongue. The advisors became the Rahien Din, Dawn Brothers. They were named the dawn brothers for it was said that these leaders knew enough to know what lay ahead.
Of course the largest of these Haran Din was made up of the warriors. They had chosen the color red for it symbolized the blood that had been spilled at their hand. This group took on the role of mercenaries, often finding themselves captains of armies. Nobody except for these mercenaries quite understand the rules of this group, for they fight each other on the battlefield in every major war.
The next major group to form was that of the Green Haran Din. This faction fancied themselves as adventurers and were the most helpful in reuniting and relocating families and friends to those closest to their native home. This group is said to have the largest set of eyes and ears spread throughout the world, and with the traveling most of them do it is quite believable. The Green tend to follow their hearts and always stay true to themselves.
The Silver Haran Din is the third largest group, and they are the faction of the Builders. This group has learned to create buildings that inspire awe and seem to seduce the peoples attraction. Most of those who had helped create the Black Tower chose to join this faction when it formed. This group also has worked closely with the Ogier masons and Tree-singers to create palaces for kings & queens, dukes and earls, and the richest of the nobles.
Purple was the color chosen for the healers among the Asha'man. Their teachings used very fine and delicate weaves of all five elements to heal those who needed it. However, the key rule that the purple asha'man hold is that if herbs and medicines can heal the body they will use those over the power. This rule was imposed to keep people from coming to them to heal minor wounds that could easily be cured otherwise.
The Blue Haran Din are the ambassadors between the White and Black towers. If an Asha'man is seen wandering the halls of the White Tower it is most likely a member of the Blue. While their are no rules that state members of other Haran Din can't be bonded by an Aes Sedai most of those others refuse; whereas the members of the Blue consider it the greatest honor to bond or be bonded by an Aes Sedai.
White represents the neutrality similar to the gray Aes Sedai. These members consider themselves the greatest debaters, and work towards developing peace treaties between nations and even the smallest disputes between farmers. They are always trying to find a middle ground.
The Gold Haran Din was created by a former banker who felt that having a national bank would help secure the world, as well as profit the tower. These members have set out to create a bank in the capital city of every nation, and they are still working on creating banks in all of the other major cities spread throughout the world. For a hefty fee they will even open gateways for the nobles to travel to other places without taking up the time it takes to go on the long journeys to other cities and nations. This has been their greatest income.
The Brown brotherhood is almost a clone of their White Tower counterpart. They can often be found with their head buried in a book or in the papers they were writing. Their clothing was often simple, for they had many other things to worry about than their dress. It is said that the Brown Haran Din often work closely with the Ogier scholars, even visiting the stedding for long periods of time; though they would often go for walks to the edges of the stedding so they could at least feel the source.
The Black Haran Din was much different than the rumored Black Ajah. These men were known as the beast-masters, training specifically to deal with the wild animals of the world and make them tame; at least tame to that particular beasts master, the Black Brother. For the first two years of joining this faction the new brothers are taught to work with all sorts of animals from dogs, large wildcats, bears, wolves, and even the once fabled animals that have come from Seanchan and Shara. Upon their second aniversary they are brought into a room full of baskets, where they are to choose a basket that contains their Animal partner. When an animal partner dies the black brother returns to the Black Tower to mourn their lost partner for a year, before returning to the room to choose another. The Black brotherhood is the smallest and the hardest to join, being the only Haran Din to turn down members other than the Purple who would only turn down those incapable of learning the healing powers.
