Ryuu stretched as she enjoyed the sun beating down on her. Manton and Victoria, her adopted dragonettes where off on their own and now she had no idea what to do with herself. Humming softly to herself, she thought back to her family, wondering where her brother or sister were and what they had been doing since the last time she saw them.
Sitting up, Ryuu looked around calmly before getting up and heading down the path she had come, so many months ago, in search of adventure and found eggs instead.

Achat had wandered away from Cart's pack. Not too far--he had left them two days ago when the wanderlust struck again. I guess I wasn't made for a pack, he told himself sadly. Not since Sunstone died. It hurt, even after who knows how long. Their son was an adult now, maybe he would be a father soon. That's why I've got to go away, he realized. It hurts so much...that I've lost her and I'll never find another like her...

Ryuu looked around as she walked, searching for signs that other dragons had been around recently, hoping she would be able to find where her family had gotten off too. She didn't like being alone and was hoping to join up with at least one of them...it really didn't have to be her siblings, just someone to travel with so she wasn't alone.
Bored with all the quiet around her, Ryuu began a song her mother had sung to her:
I met you and the past came back to life in my dead heart. Remembering a golden time, my heart became so warm.
Just as in late autumn there are days, the transient hour, when suddenly spring wafts again and something stirs within us,
so, winnowed within by the breath of fullness my soul knew in those years, with a rapture I thought I'd forgotten, I stare into your dear face.
As if we'd been apart for ages I stare at you and think I'm dreaming, and suddenly sounds unsilenced in me could be heard within me, but louder!
That was more than reminiscence: my life began to talk once more, as did in you that very same charm, as did in my soul that very same love!

Achat paused at the sound of singing coming from up ahead. A young female dragon, he supposed, by the sound of her voice. It was a lovely song, and the singer had a pretty voice. Quietly, Achat slipped through the undergrowth, slinking around trees until he saw another dragon--a lovely young female.
At first he was entranced. Then he snorted quietly to himself. She was a little younger than Cart by the looks of things. A male simply couldn't think like that about a female that young--it was creepy. Achat shook his head and stood up and waited until her song was over to call out to her. "Hello, there," he called out.

Turning to the sound of the voice quickly, Ryuu ended up triping over her own feet, causing her to look up at the male from the ground. Blushing, made to get up quickly before returning the greeting. "Err...Hi?"
Straiting up, and composing herself, Ryuu tried again. "Hello, I'm Ryuu and it's nice to meet you..."

Achat hid a smile as the lovely female tripped. "Sorry I startled you," he said, stepping over closer to her. The light shone on the gold collar around her neck; it was as lovely as she was, her bold colors sharply contrasting each other. "My name's Achat," he said, shaking his head firmly. Snap out of it! She's young, your son's age or younger! Besides, you have a mate.
Had a mate.
SHUT UP. "It's nice to meet you, too, Ryuu. That's a very pretty lady." Mentally, Achat kicked himself. "Name. That's a very lovely name." Too young, too young...

Ryuu gave a small giggle and smiling at Achat, “ Well I have to say you have a very lovely name for a very handsome dragon.”
Flirting was fun, Ryuu decided, never having the chance to do so before, especially when you already knew they thought you were pretty. He really was a handsome dragon and something about him called to her. He made her feel safe, which was silly considering she had just met him and he could very well be the type that randomly went out to attack unsuspecting females he met. Mentally shrugging, Ryuu decided to trust her instincts about him.
“I didn’t know others lived around here, have you done so for long?”

Achat bowed his head, blushing beneath his fur at the compliment. He took a deep breath and only replied when his tongue was firmly under control. "Thank you. You are lovely yourself. Your name fits your appearance perfectly." Looking at Ryuu, Achat felt something he had not felt in a long time: youth. Once a dragon reached maturity, aging slowed down...to her, she might not know how old he was. That thought made him more confident, though a guilty conscience weighed him down a bit at the thought of how she might be deceived.
"I don't live around here," he smiled. "I live a little further south in a pack that moves around a lot. What about you, you have a pack?"

Ryuu Shook her head no, " Not really, It's just my family. My parents live around here and my brother and sister left to explore the world. I went to follow them and well it didn't turn out the way I planned and I ended up with a few resonsiblities so I couldn't go home right away or try to find my siblings. Well I'm free to go as I please now and I decided to try to find my brother or sister, the only problem is that it's been months since they left so I don't know where they could be."
Ryuu didn't really know why she didn't tell Achat about the eggs she found and raised except that she wanted the male to like her and was worried he would be put off if he found out she had kids. Sure they weren't hers by blood but they were by heart.

Achat found himself entranced by the younger female. He decided not to tell her about Cart...he was old enough to be having children himself. He could guess what the responsibilities Ryuu was talking about, even if she didn't mention them. What responsibilities could a dragon have? It was some other dragon, or more, who couldn't take care of themselves; probably younger dragons. Older dragons were much, much rarer. He wasn't sure if he wanted to ask her...she might ask him awkward questions. "I like kids." Achat was horrified to hear the voice; it was his own. "I mean, not in an improper way," he added quickly. "Like a father." Better. Vaguely. "We found a few abandoned eggs in our pack. We used to hatch and raise them. I sort of...enjoyed it. They were good kids, for the most part." Well, Atum, River, and Syoto weren't...but...

Ryuu looked wide eyed at Achat for a second before giving him a shy smile and blushing slightly, "I like kids too. I guess you figured out what my responsibilities were. I found two eggs that had the start of a hatching spell on them in an abandoned cave and I couldn't just leave them there when I could help. So I finished the spell and hatched them myself. They can finally take care of themselves now. "

Achat smiled. "Ah, I see. But you have no children of your own?" Interesting. So she's free...what am I saying?! I'm not looking for a mate!! He shook his head to banish the thought from his mind. He was at a loss for what to say next when his stomach growled. He sighed. In hearing Ryuu's song, he had forgotten the growing twinges of his hunger. He blushed in embarrassment, his ears flicking back. "Sorry," he muttered, his skin feeling as red as his fur. He hadn't felt like this since he was a teen and first flirting with Sunstone...Ryuu had the same effect. How...interesting.

"I really haven't had the chance to or knew anyone I would want to have children with," the until now Ryuu finished in her head.
Hearing the rumbles of Achat stomach, Ryuu had to giggle, "There's nothing to be sorry for. I'm kinda getting hungry too so if we worked together I'm sure we kind find something for us to eat."

"Ah, I see," Achat murmured. He had forgotten how spread thin dragons were...they had to search more vigorously for others of their kind. It was hard to believe how few dragons there were sometimes--and other times, it was hard to believe how many dragons there used to be.
He grinned appreciatively. "Thanks. So there must be some deer around here, right? I'd love some deer. It's hard to hunt with only one person." The more Achat thought about it, the more he wanted to hunt with Ryuu. He was himself a pretty fair hunter, and a dragon living on her own would have to be as well.

"Yes there is and deer would be wonderful! I haven't had it much since I started taking care of Manton and Victoria. I didn't want to leave them alone for long or end up getting hurt and leave them without someone watching out for them so I had to stay with smaller game and fish."
Ryuu was excited about hunting for something besides fish and rabbits. They were all very good and all but sometimes you needed something different. "There's a place not to far from here were they like to drink from, and hopefully if we're lucky they will be there today."
