January 109
Eustace walked cautiously down an unfamiliar hall, looking with little hope for the room she'd been assigned. LunarFlare was helping the best he could, sniffing about, but often going in the wrong direction (as far as Eustace knew) and getting into things he probably shouldn't have. At one time, he'd even tried going into a room where the door was left open and two people still inside. 'W-wait!' She gently pushed him in a different direction, which he instantly began sniffing around in and finding another way to get into trouble. She'd had to chase after him down a lot before finally giving up on finding her room and sitting outside where he could wander around pretty-much anywhere without causing trouble.
LunarFlare was in a whole new world now, so many different sights and smells that he'd never even contemplated before. He especially wanted to search for his family. He had found there scent in some places already, but had yet to see any of them again after bonding with Eustace.

‘Pick up the pace would ya? I have an apprentice to deal with.’ Calla announced in irritation as WoodWhisp picked his way through the woods as they headed back. Calla had applied for an apprentice despite her frequent trips to White Shadow. She figured she’d been around the block a few times it wouldn’t be too hard. She’d had an apprentice or two before, and when she was an apprentice herself she chewed out her Patron for being late at the promised meeting location. So with growing irritation and anticipation she nudged WoodWhisp into a higher speed, reminding him this just might be one of his pups.
WoodWhisp picked up the pace as the pair got closer to the fort. Having been out on a patrol round with Calla. Today the two of them were supposed to meet with their Apprentice. Who ever had had the idea to give Calla an apprentice should be shot as far as WoodWhisp was concerned. But that didn’t mean he wasn’t excited, the only Bonding that had taken place recently that he knew of had been that of his own pups, therefore this must be one of his that he would get to be mentor to! Charging through the gate he was forced to slide to a stop just short of a small black wolf that hadn’t been paying attention it seemed. “Hey! You! Don’t just stand there like-“ WoodWhisp cut off mid sentence as he realized who he was talking to, “LunarFlare!” He exclaimed, leaning his head down and nuzzling his son. WoodWhisp was on the larger side for a Gamma after all.
“Hey Lunar!” Calla exclaimed cheerfully as she slid off WoodWhisp’s back and smiled down at the pup, almost sure he would recognize her, “What are you doing all the way over here? Where’s your rider?” She asked smiling, and realizing the Wolf probably didn’t have a masterful grip on the English language just yet. Straightening up she scanned the fort in search of the girl LunarFlare had bonded too. Not far away she spotted Eustace not far away. Striding easily through the snow she approached the girl. “Calla Bianchi at your service. Considering the location you are standing in I’m going to assume you’re the Apprentice I’ve been assigned?” Calla asked with a smile, holding out her hand to Eustace.

Eustace watched as LunarFlare got farther and farther away, keeping a close eye that he didn't get too far. She could run a fair speed and get him in time so long as he didn't start running too. He had the habit of doing that. Whenever she chased after him, he thought she was playing with him. Having felt bad if she didn't, Eustace always played with him when he did that. He was going to be a very spoiled wolf indeed. Noticing his distance, Eustace walked briskly toward him. Just as she'd gotten within a few yards of him, she noticed two others there with him, WoodWhisp and his rider, Calla. A thought came upon her that they were visiting LunarFlare, but that didn't seem likely.
LunarFlare sniffed in the snow for a bit, finding all sorts of interesting things. Since they'd gone outside, he'd dug up a boot (and suspected the second to be somewhere nearby), a lunch tray, and two bones (either a bone buried by another wolf or the bones of some dead animal). When he'd been scolded by WoodWhisp, he whipped his head around and did the equivalent of a tackleglomp when he realized who it was. It hadn't been long, but it had been long enough that he would miss his family terribly. "D..Daaaa...d!" He struggled to get the correct word out. Lunar rushed to the pile of goods he'd found and barked loudly, proud of his forage. He'd recognized Calla and licked her hand as a show of affection, but his primary concern was showing them what he'd found. Eustace had already praised him for it and he wanted more.
When Calla greeted her, Eustace immediately stood at attention and saluted. "M-Ma'am!" Even if Calla was a private, she still outranked Eustace and it was merely a precaution. In truth, she'd forgotten all about having a Patron and any meeting they had planned. It was pure dumb luck that she arrived at the right place at the right time. She was a bit tempted to ask for help to find her room, but on top of being incredibly embarassing, Calla would have more important things to talk about.

“Calm down girl, I’m not going to eat you.” Calla said with a smile, “My name is Calla, now do you have a name or am I just gonna have to call you Lunar’s rider?” the woman laughed. She half remembered how she’d been forced to be polite and submissive to her Patron. It had always bothered her greatly, just not her style. She had vowed to never have her apprentice have to do that when she got one. And here she was, holding back laughter at this obedient little girl. Calla just shook her head and smiled warmly down at the girl, she would certainly take some training that was for sure, but Calla was sure she was up to the challenge. “So then, you settled in already or do you need help? The fort takes a bit getting used to before you figure out where anything is.” Calla said helpfully, though she had been forced to adapt to making her way about the fort considering she was always looking for WoodWhisp who had frequently hidden himself away to nap. That and Calla couldn’t help but pick up a confused and slightly lost vibe from the girl. Yep, she would take some encouraging but Calla was sure she could guide her in the right direction.
WoodWhisp mock batted at his son as he followed the little pup over to the pile of stuff he had collected. “Hey bud, you already dug up all this? Someone’s been busy.” WoodWhisp said jokingly as he looked over the pile of stuff Lunar had collected. A chuckle escaped his throat as he snatched up one of the bones. “Hey now! This was mine!” WoodWhisp snorted, okay not really but it was now. He could already tell it was going to be useful having the curious little bugger around. And it was his own kid so that was a plus of its own. “Better watch whose stuff you go diggin’ up Lunar, not everyone around here is as nice as I am.” WoodWhisp said, nudging his son playfully.

Eustace smiled nervously back, trying to look calmer. 'Eu-Eustace Vinarin, Ma'am!" Regardless of Calla's reassurance, she wanted to make the best impression of determination and obedience. That's what patrons looked for, right? It would be necessary to be at attention at all times and to show the utmost respect to those who outranked you. If Eustace ever met a sergeant, she'd probably kneel down and his his boots. Trying to hide the pack of all of her belongings behind herself, she replied, "It's been a little... difficult, but I'll f-find it." She kicked up snow behind herself in an attempt to hide it. "I wouldn't want to t-trouble you." Eustace smiled as sweetly as she could manage without killing her facial muscles.
LunarFlare yipped in reply to what he'd interpreted as praise, then looked at his father inquisitively. Then looked toward the pile. "Not... M...Miiiine?" He whined. Lunar's head fell and he slowly sniffed around again to find the places everything had been buried before, whining all the while. He'd been working so hard to find them, too.
Eustace looked automatically toward LunarFlare when he'd started whining and watched in amazement as he buried each individual item in the exact same place he'd found it. Having had nothing to do outside, she'd been watching Lunar as he found things and dragged them to a pile. It was amazing even she remembered. Or maybe it wasn't her remembering, but an effect of the bond between Eustace and Lunar. Was he really paying so much attention when he dug them up?

“Good to meet you Eustace.” Calla said with a smile, “You can stop saluting now.” Calla said, nodding and walking about Eustace she grabbed the girl’s bag and tossed it over her shoulder. Turning back to her Apprentice she grinned, “Lesson one. Subtlety. Had you not drawn attention to it I probably wouldn’t have noticed.” Calla pointed out jokingly as she turned back around she noticed Eustace staring off towards the wolves. Curious she watched what Lunar and WoodWhisp were doing. Calla smiled as the pup carefully replaced each item he had dug up in what WoodWhisp informed her was the exact same place he had gotten them from. “You got a smart pup there Eustace.” Calla pointed out with a smile. Yep, both Eustace and Lunar certainly had plenty of potential, Calla couldn’t help but feel proud at having been chosen as their Patron. Granted that didn’t mean she wouldn’t unleash her fair share of picking on the two younglings. An almost evil grin flashed across Calla’s face as the thought crossed her mind. Oh yes, she already had ideas in mind for these two, and they would certainly help Eustace to loosen up. "Now, what's your room number?"
“Hey buddy! I never said you had to put them back.” WoodWhisp said with a laugh, “Whoever the real owners are they deserve it, trust me. Just don’t let on that it was you who nicked their stuff, ‘Kay.” WoodWhisp chuckled as Lunar went about putting them all back, whining all the way. Yeah, that was his kid all right. But even WoodWhisp was mildly surprised as the pup put them each back in their original location. A proud grin crossed the father’s face and he puffed himself up a bit. “C’mon you.” WoodWhisp said, batting snow in Lunar’s direction, “Let’s get you and your rider settled down and then I’ll show the two of you around. Who knows, maybe we’ll find some more stuff on the way.” WoodWhisp’s tone was still light and joking as he stood up and kept a close eye on Lunar. The last thing he wanted was the pup getting in trouble with one of the New Eve wolves, not everyone around here was of the nicest sort after all.

Eustace lowered her hand and reached futilely for her bag as Calla took hold of it. She bowed her head. "I can carry it! Please don't trouble yourself to do something like that!" The first of her lessons was noted and stored in her brain for later use. Subtlety; it was something she was very poor at. Eustace raised her head and reached for the bag. "If anything, I should be carrying your things!"
After acknowledging his father's statement, LunarFlare replaced all but the boot, which he carried in his mouth and gnawed on every now and again. 'Mine.' Lunar stated simply. He laid down next to WoodWhisp, one paw crossed over the other and his tail swishing left and right, kicking up a light layer of snow as it did so. He bit several holes in the boot and relieved it completely of the shoelaces. After a minute or two, the sole was starting to become detached. The wind softly ruffled his fur.
"He is, isn't he?" Eustace asked with an unintentional loving tone in her voice. "T-that is, I can't take any credit for it. I-it must be either his mother or-" She stopped. That's who Calla's wolf was, wasn't it. This entire time, she hadn't made the connection. Calla's wolf, WoodWhisp, was LunarFlare's father. "It m-must be either Twilight or WoodWhisp's genes." Eustace finished. When the question about her room number was asked, she dug a piece of paper out of her pocket. "P14." She answered.
Lunar sniffed. 'Smell...' He moved slowly from where he lay. He could smell something different, something new. It smelled... appetizing. LunarFlare increased his pace just a tad, moving toward the origin of that scent. It was dangerously close. He kept his pace, careful not to make any sudden or quick movements. Was this instinct? Lunar's breathing slowed as he came upon what he'd been smelling. It was a rodent of some kind, two or three meters away. He howled, signifying his new find. The rodent shot off, and he after it.

Calla ignored the girls attempts to take back the bag. “Eustace, Eustace, Eustace. You’re my APPRENTICE not my SLAVE.” Calla insisted, adjusting the bag into a more comfortable position she again made an attempt to smile warmly at the girl, calm her down. “Look dear, it’s my job to teach you. I can’t very well do that if you’re still tied up in whatever lesson’s Adrian taught you at the academy.” She said waving her hands as if that would somehow magically make Eustace forget whatever the cruel Drill Sergeant had taught her. She highly doubted that would work though, this girl seemed hell bent on being as polite and obedient as possible. “You’re a WolfRider now, you should be proud of your wolf.” Calla said chuckling as Eustace attempted to cover up the moment of unhidden pride in the pup that was now chasing away after something or other. ‘WoodWhisp, keep an eye on him while I take care of her.’ Calla commanded before turning her attention back to her Apprentice. “P14 eh? Sounds like they’re keeping up the whole ‘Keep the apprentice near the Patron’ thing. That’s just across the way from me and WoodWhisp’s place." Calla turning on her heels and heading off, not bothering to make sure the girl was behind her. “Yeah, WoodWhisp is little Lunar’s dad, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a prouder father. He’s never had pup before so this is a bit knew to him. At the Bonding he half wanted to skin you recruits alive.” Calla chuckled, making her way easily though the snow despite her shorter stature.
Calla command was unnecessary, as soon as Lunar had darted off WoodWhisp had been close behind him. This fort was not the place to go running about on your own. He had no plans to stop the pup, if anything this might serve as a good teaching opportunity. “Lunar, silly, don’t howl so close to the prey, you’ll scare them off.” WoodWhisp informed him, easily keeping pace with the smaller pup with little to no effort. Carefully WoodWhisp lowered his body to the ground, keep his eyes carefully on the mouse as it scampered and zigzagged through the snow. “Never take your eyes off it, and keep as quite as possible.” WoodWhisp explained to the pup fondly, “And when you’re close enough…” WoodWhisp leaped and trapped the rodent beneath his paws, “Snatch it.” WoodWhisp grinned, keeping one paw carefully on the now terrified mouse. “Now, you want to try?”

"T-that's right." Eustace said, nodding. "And you're not m-my slave either." She reached futilely for the bag again. It was stupid that she kept trying to get it back. It was obvious that Calla wanted to carry it. Whatever reason she had for it, Eustace didn't know, but it would be more polite to let her do what she wanted. 'So, what I'm doing now is being assertive?' She thought. 'I shouldn't try to stand in the way of her doing as she pleases.' Eustace lowered her hands and amended, "F-forgive me. It wasn't my place." She walked a steady and constant distance of one meter behind Calla. Eustace gulped. "H-he doesn't still-?" She asked nervously. They made it inside without her realizing that Lunar hadn't been following her, but when she did, she became frantic. After half a minute of looking around, logic kicked in for the first time that day. WoodWhisp wasn't there either. They were probably together.
LunarFlare watched in awe as his father caught the mouse so easily. He listened and watched carefully as WoodWhisp illustrated the proper way to go about things. When the larger male finished, Lunar nodded fervently. It looked easy enough. "I waaaaaant iiiiiit!" He whined, jumping around impatiently in the snow. It was his first entire sentence since exiting the cave, simple as it may have been. Apparently, the extent of his want was enough to make him concentrate more on conveying said feeling. Lunar waited for the rodent to be released.

“Good girl. This is a relationship of mutual benefit. You get someone to teach you and I get an apprentice to torture.” Calla said jokingly, but then realized Eustace would probably take her seriously from what she’d seen so far, “Or, that is, some good exercise.” Calla added, hoping Eustace wouldn’t take that the wrong way. Still she ignored the her attempts to take back the bag as she strode though the snow towards her own apartment. “Eustace dear, would you mind not walking behind me? One of these days you’re going to get shot doing that. Slightly paranoid you see.” Calla said cheerfully, it would probably happen, wouldn’t be the first time. People would sneak up behind Calla when she was an apprentice and her first reaction was to turn and shoot them. Even back in those days she had her reliable Metaphor, which she now reached down and patted to make sure it was there, though it hadn’t been engraved at the time. The two were her precious little children, but many people had learned that they were for more than just show. “No. Not as much anyway, though if he finds anyone mistreating his pups I don’t guarantee that I will be able to hold him back.” Calla said, a hint of pride that her wolf had turned out so protective and fatherly of his pups. Yes, though she hadn’t seen it coming WoodWhisp had indeed turned out to be a good father.
“Alright, just keep in mind what I taught you and you just might find yourself with a snack.” WoodWhisp said, the mouse was thoroughly terrified now, though he hoped it would have the brains to run when he released it. The little thing had better give his son a bit of a challenge, an easy kill was never fun, and anyway it spoiled a wolf. “Now, on the count of three….” WoodWhisp said, staring intently at his son. “One… “Two… “THREE!” And with this he lifted the paw. To his amusement the mouse scampered off through the combination of snow, mud, and slush that layered the fort. Constantly compressed and quickly melted by the steps of humans and wolves alike.

Eustace was always in a mind to take things seriously, as unlikely as it seemed that she would ever be serious and was helplessly gullible. She tried her best to keep a cheerful mood, but when things like impending doom were brought up, it made her just a tad uneasy. As much as she wanted to assume Calla's statement was a joke, her lack of experience with this person told her that it would be a bad idea. Instead of acknowledging the joke by laughing, she just smiled and nodded. Whether it was meant for humor or not would be evident soon enough. "Right." With having a Patron, one had rules like the one Calla had just appointed, or so Eustace assumed. So, she increased her pace a bit to catch up and then fell into step with Calla again. 'Come to think of it,' Eustace thought. 'I guess I could be considered paranoid too.' She'd always assumed people thought the worst of her and so had made it her goal to gife Calla the best impression. The impression she'd wanted to give, however, seemed to give Calla the worst opinion of her. When Calla mentioned the mistreating of any of WoodWhisps pups, Eustace immediately defended herself, for better or worse. If Calla wanted the opposite of obedient and polite, she could have that. "I would never do such a thing!" She said in the most outraged voice she could manage, which sounded less like anger and more like a cat throwing up. Trying to come back from that disaster, she continued. Calla had said that pride in the wolf she'd bonded with was a must, so she said, "Not to LunarFlare! I-I, He-..." And another failed attempt. Her stutter was back. Eustace fell silent, embarassed.
LunarFlare yipped and jumped around, waiting for the final number, then shot off after the mouse again. It was easy enough to be silent in the snow. Kicking up slush behind him, he followed the mouse quietly. The terrified rodent was a bit hard to spot, but hearing and smelling it was no difficult task. When he thought he was close enough, Lunar lunged. Miss. Apparently, sight was much more important than he'd originally thought. Recovering from his jump, he ran after the mouse again. Miss. Miss. Miss. Lunar came upon a place where the snow was melted and only mud remained, but the mouse had no intention of going there. So, he jumped over the mouse and in the opposite direction of the mudbath in an attempt to steer it in the right direction. Success! The mouse fleed to the mud and LunarFlare lunged for the final time. Captured! Mission: Catch the Rodent - Complete! Lunar journeyed triumphantly back to his father, mouth clenched firmly in his jaws and covered in mud. "Look!"
Eustace stopped walking, a peculiar feeling tickling at the back of her mind, a strange determination. She fell behind Calla. 'Catch it.' She looked onto the only moving object. 'Catch it!' Her eyes locked onto the only moving target in sight. 'Catch it now!' Eustace ran and jumped, feeling a weird possessiveness. "Mine!" Was all she managed to choke out.

Calla smiled and put her arm around Eustace’s shoulder. “There ya go girl!” Calla encouraged happily, “LunarFlare is young. Only a couple of months, and even then he’s been away from the cave for even less. He can’t defend himself, not yet anyway, so you’ll have to do it for him.” Calla explained, though she seemed cheerful there was a hint of seriousness in her voice as she patted Eustace on the shoulder. “I myself broke a guys nose ‘cause he called WoodWhisp lazy. He’s lucky I hadn’t been issued a set of Firearms yet or I would have done a lot worse.” Calla smiled cheerfully, it was obvious she was rather proud of such a memory. Granted Calla was always overly proud of her more violent acts of domination, and on top of that Metaphor and Simile were her babies, any memory or story where they were just as faithful to her as always was a fond one. Calla pulled away from Eustace, skirting a mud puddle as they drew closer to their quarters. There was only the brief shout from Eustace to warn Calla what was happening. In all honesty she hadn’t really noticed the apprentice fall behind, assuming the girl had gone about finding her own way around the mud. Calla reacted quickly despite the short warning, reaching and snatching her apprentice close and out of her path straight for the mud. Unfortunately she’d dropped the girl’s bag in a pile of slush in the process though. She’d have to make sure that go properly dried out. “Heh. I was half wondering when that was going to happen.” Calla chuckled as she set her apprentice down and made sure she was steady, “A wolf’s emotions are a powerful thing, especially as they reside in your own head. One must be very careful not to act on the emotions and impulses of your wolf.” Calla explained calmly, “And Lunar must do the same. The bond can be a very useful thing, especially in battle, but you must be careful how you use it.” She said, in full teaching mode now as she snatched the bag back up before any further damage could be done to the contents within. Calla waited patiently for Eustace to pull herself back together before she would continue.
WoodWhisp watched from his seat in the slush as Lunar chased after the rodent. He had decided not to follow unless Lunar got farther away than he would like, it was good for the pup to go about his first kill on his own. Or at least, what WoodWhisp assumed was his first kill, those tactics he’d seen before would never catch anything. The large wolf had to repress his laughter as Lunar repeatedly missed the target and almost felt a sense of pity for the mouse, who was most likely now terrified beyond all thought. He watched intently as Lunar guided the rodent towards the mud, a good tactic for smaller prey, guide them into water, it slowed them down. A sense of pride rinsed over WoodWhisp as the pup lunged one last time, successfully. “There ya go Lunar!” WoodWhisp spoke encouragingly as his son came trotting back proudly with the mouse, “Now. I want you to work on your accuracy. One lunge, one kill, repeated misses will quickly scare larger prey away from you.” WoodWhisp explained calmly, though making sure his tone was more of a suggestion and less of a put down. It was the boy’s first kill and he didn’t want to take away that sense of pride.

Eustace nodded. She had promised the day she bonded with Lunar that she would protect him and be something like a second mother to him. Even being the submissive kind of person she was, it would be little trouble to step in if someone bothered LunarFlare. The bond would see to that. If the adolescent wolf felt threatened or scared, Eustace would want to retaliate the same as he. She supposed that's what Calla meant when she said that the bond was very useful. Even with the increased confidence due to the bond, she wasn't sure that she could put the same kind of force behind a punch as Calla. Surely poor little Eustace couldn't break someone's nose. "Will you teach me?" She asked, not quite sure yet what kind of teaching being an Apprentice required. "To protect L-lunar, I mean." When the older woman grabbed her, it was as if everything was in slow motion. Eustace saw her destination, the inevitable embarassment and failure of the tiny miniscule task she suddenly took it upon herself to attempt. In less than two seconds, she had been in the air, on the ground, and in Calla's custody. She blinked. 'W-what just-' A feeling of triumph came over her, despite her failure. It didn't make sense. Eustace just attacked her patron and was utterly humiliated... and she was happy about it? She listened to Calla's explanation, a bit confused, but comprehending enough of it to realize that it was a very common occurance. Despite this, she ammended, "S-sorry, ma'am." 'Wait... She told me her name earlier. Did she want me to call her by that?' Eustace tried to speak again, failing most outrageously. "I-I I m-m-mean, th-tha-that that i-is C-c-c-c-c..." She stopped. Eustace already embarassed herself enough.
Lunarflare acknowledged WoodWhisp's words, but due to the lack of more prey in the area, simply began gnawing on the now dead rodent. Next time, he would try what his father suggested. He looked around, suddenly alarmed. 'Eu!' Lunar looked around frantically. His bondmate was now a dot on the horizon, preparing to enter the Fort building once again. 'Eu, Eu!' He looked to his father with a somewhat desperate and worried expression. This was the farthest he'd been from Eustace since he walked out of the cave. Lunar looked to his father, bowing his head a bit, then ran off toward Eustace.

Calla suppressed a chuckle at the girl. She seemed to be trying so hard to please Calla and she was sensing large waves of nervousness and embarrassment from the girl. “Eustace.” She said evenly, setting her hand on the girls shoulder she smiled, “Calm down, deep breaths. This kind of thing happens until you get used to the bond.” Calla reassured her. Vaguely she adjusted the pack on her back as she waited for Eustace to be able to get herself together and continue. Calla could tell it wasn’t far now from her Barracks and she would be able to get the girl settled in and give her a tour of the fort. Already Calla knew she would have to run the girl through some practices, with fire arms and hand to hand. “And yes, dear. I will gladly teach you.” Calla ruffled Eustace’s hair jokingly before glancing back over the girls shoulder, “Speaking of which, you might want to back away from the mud.” Calla suggested, watching LunarFlare come bounding across towards them.
WoodWhisp simply nodded as Lunar looked at him pleadingly. The pup was young, he was still attached to Eustace, relying on her. He would get older and more independent in time. WoodWhisp stood up and shook himself up before trotting after the pup. Easily he caught up to Lunar and his orange eyes glinted down at the pup. “Race ya to her.” WoodWhisp suggested, picking up his pace only slightly at the words, glancing expectantly over his shoulder at Lunar with a mischievous grin on his face.

|| *just noticed she put Academy instead of Fort in her last post* *Fails* || Eustace smiled, trying as best she could to make it seem calm rather than the deformed deer-caught-in-the-headlights grin it turned out to be. She groaned. It was good that she would have a teacher like Calla. At least she was level headed. The Private Apprentice looked up as Calla put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. As uncomfortable as meeting new people was for Eustace, Calla seemed like she was trying to make things easier. Maybe it was true that not all people were like Adrian back at the Academy. She smiled. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. After hearing that Calla agreed to teach her, her smile broadened. It was something Eustace would be especially excited to learn, along with being assertive and polite at the same time (a concept that at the moment she couldn't wrap her mind around). When Calla ruffled her hair, a strange, incredibly embarassing thought came to her. It was a thought that she would never express out loud for embarassment and possible shunning from the Patron she'd thought it about. It would hurt the relationship more than help and would only serve to prevent Eustace from showing the proper respect. This thought was 'Maybe this is what having a mother is like.' It was silly. Calla wasn't even that much older than her. So, with respect to the thought's apparent accuracy and all of the impending awkward social moments, she kept it to herself. Heeding Calla's warning, Eustace stepped out of the way of the mud and encouraged the mud-soaked pup forward. LunarFlare's eagerness was so endearing. She felt nothing but complete adoration for him. It was like he was a dog rather than a wolf. He would grow out of it, she was sure, but at this point she really didn't want him to.
LunarFlare's eyes glowed with enthusiasm as he picked up his speed to catch up to his father again. With impressive initiative, he darted full speed across the snow to Eustace. At this speed, it would be less than a couple of minutes until he would arrive. His tongue hung out of his mouth as he panted for air during the short run. He really was more like a dog than a wolf.
