Ok. I'm having thoughts that the Spring Arc should feel less like an "Arc" and more like a bunch of fillers. (Just for a break from the old routine). We already have a few ideas baking in the oven, so lets deck 'em out and see which one's the best to serve. (Nice cooking puns, huh?)
*Any titles are a work-in-progress. Obviously. Idea A) Heroes Among Thieves Skylar, a lone bandit and thief, causes trouble with Team Aqua and the Legendary Brilliance Gang. Later he sets his eyes on an ultimate treasure: Arceus and immortality.
Idea B) Team Magma + Team Frost vs. Team Aqua An idea involving Team Magma and a new enemy team which deals with ice types teaming up to move the continents, change ocean currents, and cast the world into a new ice age while simultaneously expanding land mass.
Idea C) I believe there was an idea that there would be a tournament between Aqua and the Pokemon League. Team Aqua would battle Gym leaders and Elite Four members.
Filler RP Ideas: (add em here when you think of em)
-Team Magma Targeting Mt. Chimney
-Taking a trip to our old, wrecked HQ near Lilycove (just for fun) but get there to find a bunch of abusive trainers using the spot as a pokemon dealing location. (Perhaps mix some LBG characters in there?)
-The desert on Route 111 is experiencing flash floods. Go there and deal with the source of the problem.
-Bandits attacked the Goldenrod-Saffron train. Stop the robbery and/or hostage situation, or track down the robbers after the fact and get back the loot. Done on 3/8/09
-Do a guest appearance on Goldenrod Radio. (Good for a week with few attendees)
-Avalanche has blocked passage through Mt. Coronet. Help clear the snow. Alternate story: Help rescue skiers caught in an avalanche. Alternate story #2: Go skiing, accidentally trigger an avalanche when our pokemon get rowdy.
-Go into space again. Dunno why, but ... why not?
-For NEXT SATURDAY ONLY! Celebrate Pi Day. (March 14... 3/14... anybody need a clearer explanation?)
-Foil a robbery attempt by Neo Team Rocket.
-Stop Team Armour from stealing a bunch of Armor Fossils. (Doesn't have to be Oreburgh)
-Take another trip into the Aquos Island Abandoned Lab. Catch some ghosts?

C sounds like fun, but isn't that a mission series? Well, we could play it off from the mission series... Well evil gyms... hmm... Why exactly would we we enter the league? Where's the motivation?
But the one we have most developed so far is A, which means we should probably go for that one.
B sounds cool, but are we ready for a Magma return? If anything, I think the arcs (should we not come up with a better idea between now and then) should go A C B.

Random thought: Scavenger Hunt.
Dunno what direction to take that idea yet. (It is getting late here)
A tournament could be an interesting idea, but how would we work it? Which League would host it? (Remember that Johto is possibly down one Gym Leader) Does it even have to be against GLs and/or E4s?
Skylar could be introduced at almost any time. He could be a contestant in the tournament, looking for a prize pokemon. We could encounter him while scavenging. There's no reason we have to devote multiple weeks to him straight away.
Remember also that Teams Armour and Zypher, and Surge's Militia are all collecting dust.

There was an idea that Skylar would be on the news as an unidentified burglar stealing artifacts from museums around Sinnoh and Kanto. I’ve been playing with that idea a bit, and came up with ideas for what he’d be after.
From the Oreburgh Mining Museum, he will target the region’s largest diamond, the Ark Diamond. The diamond was recently mined from the mine and cut to give it its gem-like shape (and I’ll drop some hints about the diamond’s existence via news stories.) Next he will target a very valuable pearl (see the theme? xP) from the Oceanic Museum in Slateport City. Being the size of a golf ball, the Mirage Pearl (named after where it was allegedly discovered) had been a major attraction for the city, and it once belonged to a giant Clamperl. According to bulbapedia.net, pearls created from Clamperl amplify psychic powers.
His motives are unclear if there are any at all. He might have had the idea of selling them, but of course those items will be too hot for the market. Imagine stealing the Mona Lisa and attempting to sell it on Ebay; It’s not going to go well, though Yura might take a liking to the diamond and pearl. Amarube and Yura will try to buy, blackmail, cheat, etc., Skylar to try to get the artifacts from him. NeoRocket will catch wind of his snags and will want the items for their own (perhaps as a gift to get Giovanni back). Team Aqua will find out and want to get the items back to their respective owners.
Taking these ideas and turning them into RPs: RP #1) The Orebough Mining Museum: (These events will take place while Aqua is somewhere else dealing with an unrelated matter. (Perhaps during a vacation RP? I mean “vacation” because it’ll be a leisure RP. We’ll go somewhere and chillax, battle some trainers just for the sport of it, and catch wild pokemon. xP The team is overdue for a vacation.) RP#2) The Slateport Oceanic Museum: We’ll hear of a live stand off with an unknown burglar in Slateport and go lend a hand. This’ll be the first time we meet Skylar, and he’ll make off with the Mirage Pearl as he sets booby traps for us to deal with. Once we see is somewhat fancy outfit, we’ll judge a book by his cover and assume he’s a high-ranked member for the Brilliance Gang. RP#3) The Goldenrod Game Corner: We’ll pay old Carrows a visit demanding information about the burglar at Slateport. He’s been keeping up with the news, but has left Ames, the research director, to finding out who this kid is. Wanting to prove more worth to Amarube and Yura, though, he’ll try to dig out more information from us inconspicuously by saying stuff like “I dunno if he was one of us. Could you describe him more? What were his tactics? Appearance?” Stuff like that. xP Of course we’ll battle some LBG goons and gamblers.
That's as far as I got.

Do we really want to press the arc forward week-by-week? Or would we rather do one thing first, then a filler, then learn more about Skylar, and gradually peel back the layers?
I dunno. Do we even have a team picked out for Skylar? I guess he'd want uncommon-but-powerful pokemon with a useful combination of skills. Dig, Fly, Teleport, etc. can aid him either break into or out of his target. Plus he'd probably need one powerhouse pokemon just in case subtlety fails.
... Sorry, got off track. This is for planning the story arc, not Skylar's trainer aspects. Anyway, my stance on the issue is not to develop anything too quickly. Mix in some fillers and let Skylar take his time. (Don't you agree that he'd be methodical in planning each heist and staying out of sight until it's time to pounce?) -- See first post for some extra filler ideas.

That's why I labeled them "RP#1", "RP#2", etc... cus yeah, this "arc" isn't going to feel like an arc.

So... something just dawned to me...
In every one of our RP arcs... we, Team Aqua, are always trying to stop some other team/person from doing something.
Well, why don't we flip that around? Let's have Team Aqua try to accomplish something and have another team try to stop us?
I kinda had in mind that we could build a device or something that would help regulate the ocean currents or keep the ocean safe, something like that, and Team Magma would try to stop us. (It could be another team, or a mix of teams, but Magma sounds the most logic.)
The term "The Crest of the Ocean" is stuck in my mind. That could be the project's name.

Shuppet, give me that! How'd you [PASS] get a hold of my stamp? [No! It's mine! Special order and everything!] *Shuppet flies away from me* Get back here! *Chases Shuppet as he leaves* *Loud thud* *Comes back in with a large [PASS] stamped on my forehead* I got it, but ... Well see for yourself. Either way, I think Shuppet approves of this idea.

ninja Thanks Shuppet. biggrin
Though I have an update to that. We should apply that idea to the Skylar Arc. Magma is already doing something to the world's volcanos, so we can deal with them with that aspect.
Anyway, new idea about the Skylar Arc. Drop the whole deal with the mirage pearl. Kinda dorky to deal with both that and a diamond. We'll instead focus only the the Ark Diamond. (I'm gonna talk to myself here to recap. At the mining museum, we found out that the diamond was created by a pokemon and in the process was given mystic powers from that pokemon. Saturn mentioned that when a certain time comes where the diamond is needed, he will no longer protect the diamond, but steal it to let it serve it's purpose. Ike agreed, and so did the team, especially Sammy. Speaking of Sammy, she was giving strange vibes when around the diamond if you noticed. She was giving it names and saying how it felt, almost as if she was a medium for it - so that gave me a HUGE idea. [the following wasn't released in the RP] The Ark Diamond wasn't just created by a pokemon, it IS a pokemon. Well, half of one. [entering story-mode. prepare!] According to Sinnoh mythology, Arceus created the universe, along with Dialga and Palkia. Well, what if Dialga and Palkia met long long ago in a dimension far far away and started to duke it out? The colossal fight threatened to rip the multiverse (aka the collective of all the different universes) apart. Acreus steps in and ceases the fighting, resulting in its sacrifice. Deciding that Dialga and Palkia had too much power, Arceus took some of their power away and used its own body as a vessel to store it all. To seal it away from Time and Space, Arceus turned itself into a diamond and then split itself into two halves. While it is unknown where the other half of the diamond is, the half we've seen (The Ark Diamond) just so happened to hide itself in the pokemon universe. The other half of the diamond (The Eos Diamond) is lost in a different dimension that's similar to the Pokemon Universe, but different to throw off any pursuers. (My ideas for that is the real world! biggrin Planet Earth.)
^^^How does that story have anything to do with Sammy?
The Ark Diamond, half of Arceus's spirit, will latch itself to Sammy and become her friend. (Think of the spirit as Navi from the LoZ series, cept less annoying.) Sammy will be the only one who hears it/sees it/feels it's presense, both physically and psychic..ally. UNLIKE what Cyrus did to Maddy, Arceus will act as a good guy toward Sammy and give her advice, help her out in tight spots, etc... . With only half of its strength, Arceus doesn't have the power to make itself whole again. It fears a rematch between the titans will take place if Cyrus succeeds in regaining his whole mind. Even with the weaker versions of Dialga and Palkia about, they would still make a HUGE mess if Arceus wasn't there to calm the brawl.
(Oh, what's that? I forgot something? Brian already has both Palkia and Dialga on his team? razz Fear not! We'll pull the whole "These Palkia/Dialga are from a different space/time respectively" on them. razz Simple.)
So, eventually piecing this together, Team Aqua will find out what's going on with Arceus and the diamond via Sammy. Knowing it's important to stop Cyrus from obtaining and controlling these Dialga/Palkia, we'll aim to restore the Ark Diamond by finding the Eos Diamond in the other dimension where it's hidden. That way Arceus can fix what's wrong and we can all go about our daily lives. xP GETTING to the other dimension will be the hard part, and I'm still thinking of ways which we could pull that off.
(I've PMed Sammy and she's all for playing this role. ^-^ If she does a bang-up job, I'd like to make her Aqua Officer [Perhaps more if we feel needed] It's true we need more people to help run RPs, and out of all of the members in the mid-ranks, she seems the most collected, committed, and talented.)
Meanwhile, Skylar will be running around trying to find the Medallion, Orb, and Sword that are Cyrus's mind. (But with the Orb and Medallion gone, he'll only have to look for the sword. He'll get that information after infiltrating Galactic's base.) The map he got from Marty's secret base was the map to Full Moon Island, btw. (He figured someone might want to buy it for a high dollar amount...or maybe he just wants it for his collection.) But he'll weezle his way into Team Aqua wanting to join and do what he says "do something good with his life." Yeah well, he'll earn the member's trust (or some of it) somehow and since he rescued Jasmine from the LBG, Ike'll let him be an honorary member. Once in our HQ, he'll find the Sword of Valor which contains the last part of Cyrus's mind (Ambition. The last thing we want Cyrus to have.) He'll also find some notes Ike wrote... or perhaps he'll stumble upon his TADS. Either way he'll discover what Ike let rest on Full Moon Island (Jirachi) and there he'll get his big scheme to wish for immortality.

Dood, sounds awesome! o.o
You know, instead of the other world being Earth, we could always steal a bit from the storyline in Platinum cool
But, of course, I can't spoil anything as I'm not sure if anyone else has gotten that far in the game yet x.x
(Talking about the events that happen on Spear Pillar, by the way.)

(Talking about the events that happen on Spear Pillar, by the way.) Ginji and I were actually brain storming and were asking ourselves what IF an RP took us here to Earth? Since the torn world is kinda like the space inbetween spaces (correct me if i'm wrong.), perhaps we could use that as a path from the Pokemon Universe to our universe and vice-versa.

Heh. Siv. I took out the League in Platinum as of last night so I know the storyline that accompanies Giratina. Torn (Distortion) World isn't a space between spaces, but rather more like LoZ's Dark World: A reflection of our world where neither can exist without the other.
(Reminds me: gotta get Torn World Colosseum into the holosystem)
There is one thing I'm worried about: Let's not have a third battle against Cyrus at Spear Pillar. If it has to be something climactic, do it somewhere else.
And also, aren't we focusing on Skylar, not Cyrus, this time around? It might get too confusing to have two (or three!) arcs going on at once. My suggestion is to stick with Skylar for now, and possibly thwart Magma's volcanic plans. This could give the kid time to infiltrate our group and learn stuff for future use. Of course, once we're no longer useful, he'll cut and run.
More when I think of it.

No, I never had it planned to have a 3rd show down at Spear Pillar. (Although that's the most logic place for us to transit to the real world.) Ginji and I flabbed our jaws about fighting Cyrus in another dimension. I don't think it'll go down like that this time. Perhaps we can issue a mission where the member battles Cyrus in the real world. Other than that, I'm only using Team Galactic as a device which Team Aqua will be able to get the Eos Diamond. And with the new Galactic commander in Platinum (what's his name? Charon? Funny, early release pictures named him Pluto. I wonder why they went with Pluto's moon for a name? I might be wrong. I'm not that far in Platinum yet. Won't be for awhile. School and all. Anyway, i'm off track... ) I thought maybe we could focus on him more than Cyrus. Skylar wants to infiltrate our base because he'll find out that we have the last piece of Cyrus's mind and he'll want big bucks for it. Although when he discovers that he has a map to Jirachi, the wish maker, he'll forget Cyrus's name and focus on that instead. I don't think we should give Cyrus his full mind back in this arc. That leaves the opportunity for Commander Charon to make Cyrus his "Puppet". (Could someone explain to me Charon's personality/role in Platinum?) For that idea, think Charon is to Cyrus as Cheney was to Bush. (xP Political joke. My bad.) But yes, the BIG spot light will be on Skylar, the medium spot light will be on Galactic, and the small spot light will be on Magma. I think if we keep going over what happens (i.e. your Recent Events thread. Also, Ike thinking about recent events in the common room. Emoish, but effective.) it won't be a problem having 3 arcs going on at once. I only have 2-3 RPs planned with Team Magma. While that's going on, Skylar will be doing his thing and Team Galactic will almost be out of the picture. When we're done with Team Magma, Galactic (and perhaps the LBG) will come back into the picture. I'm sure the LBG is ticked at Skylar for interfering with a certain business plan. (even though it's Shelly that was left dry. But still. Maybe the LBG had something invested in Shelly kidnapping Jasmine? :3)
