Looking between Iris and Mag, Suvius had a sudden craving for honey as well. "Hmm...I think it's time we leave. I had forgotten how delicious honey is, and the sooner we get there, the better it will be."
"Do either of you need anything before we go? Iris will be leading the way, since he is the one who found the bees." Suvius smiled down at Iris. "He's in charge. "

Iris looked up with a slight uncertain gaze. "Me in charge? B-but what if I mess up. I don't want to get us lost. It was only by accident I found the bee hive." He confessed hoping they wouldn't be upset by this bit of information.
"Though I think I can find it if I just go back the way I came... oh no... I was so scared of the bees that I ran around in all kinds of directions..." He muttered kicking at the dirt. "Sorry."

Mag gave Iris an encouraging smile and nodded towards the direction he had run from. "I'm sure you can manage to get us on the right track." She moved to follow Suvius and Iris her tastebuds tingling with the craving she now had.
Her eyes rested a moment longer on Suvius with curiosity, he looked so very intimidating, yet he seemed to be made of nothing but kindness.

Suvius looked down at Iris' concerned gaze. "Ah, there is nothing to worry about mon ami, if we get lost, we will just find it another way. We have nothing to limit our little trip."
Peering at Mag out of the corner of his eyes, Suvius smiled a little more. "In fact, taking our time sounds like a great idea. Why rush things, no?"

Iris' eyes light up at the encouraging words as he puffed out his little chest happily. "Okay!" He chirped happy to find that the other Herla were fine with this. A familiar friend chose that moment to peep from out of the many folds of his hair clamoring on top of his heed between his pearl horns. "Rene have you been sleeping?" The little Mion gave a peep bouncing atop his head.
"We're going to get some honey. Do you like honey?" The mion thought a moment peeping low. Maybe she hadn't had any honey before? Well there was a first time for everything. "Ooh its really sweet and sticky. You'll love it. Oh!" Iris turned bowing slightly as he stepped up to Mag. "This is my friend Rene. Rene this is my new friend Mag." The Mion gave a chirp in greeting bouncing on the Pearl Herla's head..

Mag smiled at Suvius glad that he was being so patient, and Iris seemed to be rejuvenated by the idea of taking it easy as well. Her wings folded themselves daintily along her back. She looked up at Iris' head with mild surprise her eyes scanning the little mion.
"Oh how adorable!" She laughed softly at the antics of the small creature. "It is a pleasure to meet you little Rene, so many friends and our journey has just begun..." She smiled and peered at Suvius. "You don't happen to have one of the mions hiding on you as well, do you?"

"Oui, actually. My little friend Murr is around here somewhere." Suvius gestured to the surrounding forest. "S/he likes to take hi/r time exploring the new places that we find. I'm sure s/he'll jump down from a tree and surprise us later."
"Surely if you stay here long enough one of them will attach themselves to you as well, they seem to flock to beauty." Winking at her, Suvius turned to Iris. "Ready to lead the way mon ami?"

Iris smiled up at the taller Herla nodding his head with excitement. "Okay!" Turning on his hooves they began their slow jaunt into the woodland area. Iris thought about the different places he had wandered around, corners he turned trees he could remember. Anything that would help aid him in returning to that spot where their sweet prize awaited.
Rene moved to lounge on Iris' back, letting the sun warm her ever so often as the rays peeked through the canopy of trees. "Suvius... what is it like where you come from? I never got a chance to ask you." Iris finally inquired slowing his pace to pull up between the two Herla.

Mag laughed and glanced upward "Now I'll be jumpy expecting something to come flying from the trees." She moved to follow Iris her tail giving an amused swish.
Her ears perked a bit at the question Iris posed and she glanced back at Suvius curiously. She had to admit that she too was intrigued as to the background of this male, perhaps she was about to find out something a bit more in depth then just his outward charm.

His eyes glossing over a bit in memory, Suvius took his time responding. "My people... Life with them is a lot....harder than it is around here. This grass we are walking on right now, for instance." nodding his head towards the ground," It would be fought over by many. This much food in such a small place... "
Stopping, he sighed,"I am not explaining myself very well. Let me backtrack so as not to confuse you too much." Taking a deep breath Suvius began again. "Where my people come from is a very hard place to live. Our lands fall between a huge desert and an active volcano. Food was precious and scarce. It was not uncommon for entire families of Herla to die...starvation, predators, or any number of other things made it hard to survive. But survive you did."
His eyes darkening at the latest memories he had brought back to the surface, Suvius paused his speech for a few moments as they walked. "My people were firm believers in survival of the fittest, you had to earn the right to live there. The strong had the full bellies and best places to shelter. The weak had to make due with what they could, or die. That, or become one of the strong." "It certainly gives one incentive." He said with a low chuckle, his smile bitter. "I mean...the right to adulthood for males involves journeying to the volcano and inside it. It is not guaranteed you will survive."
and a voice only he heard. "It is all right mon ami, you are gone from there now.
"Why our herd stayed there, i'm not sure. Maybe it had something to do with the Talons stopping us from entering the desert, or some kind of need to be near that volcano. It would have been a hard trip, but I made it, so it is not impossible." Glancing at both Iris and Mag, Suvius shook himself out of it, and aimed for a more positive light. He did not want to depress the trip more than he had already. "But...the sunsets over the desert, that is something I am glad to have seen. It was not always bad. There were some real things of beauty, and they are what I miss."
"Not that there aren't beautiful things here, in this lush forest." He said smiling, while looking sidelong at Mag. "I certainly do not regret leaving, no, not at all."

Iris gave a pouty face, his expression one of genuine curiousity and concern. Though as Suvius promised the situation turned better as he smiled to the larger Herla. "It must have been hard. I don't think I could have survived in that kind of environment." Iris knew he'd have been cast aside instantly in such a situation but he wanted to grow more and a stronger Herla.
He looked up to Suvius as an ideal role model despite his outward appearance; Iris didn't think he was the kind to play with the hearts of others. He only seemed that way at a glance. Smiling he danced around the two Herla with a smile. "You're lucky though Suvius. You got to finish your right to adulthood. I haven't..." Truth be told his people viewed him much like a fawn. He couldn't argue too much about it. "One day I'll pass my test and become a real adult but I think its fun to be carefree too..."

Mag watched Suvius with a tender expression, a mixture of curiosity and concern. She looked at the male and smiled softly as he finished his tale of hardship and gave her a glance. She had to admit he had charm, but within she could sense that there was a reason for it all, he wasn't a heartbreaker. How could she help but admire the courage his story demonstrated, surprisingly he didn't sound bitter about his past, he sounded resigned that it was what it was.
"You are most wise to have learned from your harsh experiences..." She murmured and smiled softly at him before turning to Iris.
"Don't be so quick to grow up Iris, it's better to feel young and be young for as long as one can enjoy it." She held back a wistful sigh before grinning and bumping against the two males.
"Come we have a sweet reward to find after all this serious talk..." She avoided disclosing her own painful story, uncertain if she could manage to be as stoic as Suvius had been with his.

Suvius was mildly surprised at both their reactions. He was expecting pity, or disgust, not understanding. How interesting...
Nodding towards Mag in agreement, Suvius turned his full attention towards Iris. "Lead the way mon ami, my stomach is starting to rumble."

Iris quickly brightened at Mag's words as he giggled for being bumped. Turning to Suvius he smiled and looked ahead for a moment. "I'm sure it's this way." He offered softly taking the lead. His wings fluttered excitedly as he galloped a short distance ahead of the two stopping as some squirls skittered out of the way. Chasing them into some bushes, Iris sniffed around but came up short. With a slight pout he moved on stopping ever so often to make sure the other two were following behind him.

Mag smiled and followed Iris in good humor, her spirits were brighter after having heard a bit more about her companions. She was still curious about Iris but the buck seemed so carefree and lighthearted that she simply enjoyed his energy. Her pace was steady and even, she didn't dash after Iris yet she didn't allow herself to lag behind.
Her mouth was watering at the though of the sweet sticky honey and she glanced at Suvius with a grin. "I'm getting hungry myself..."
