Mnyama had wandered much farther from home than was typical, even for a hare to daring as she was. She put herself at risk for attack, even by members of the pride she lived among. So far from the central lands, the den and the lions that knew who she was (and that she was not food).. well, anything could happen. But! Since finding out about Angavu and her.. situation, she was determined to help somehow. And she only had a vague plan to get the focus off of her friend, and that was to do something equally ridiculous. Then at least they would be in it together.

But she wasn't sure how she was going to accomplish anything, though. She was rather distracted by trying to take it all, trying to decide which way to go without getting lost. She could do this but not if she thought she wouldn't find her way home.

Having a very normal day but an empty stomach, Huruma was out on the hunt. She was wary of her surroundings, she knew she was near a pride- it was the only explanation for all the lions around. She was a lot smaller than them, she knew better than to bother them. Hunting alone, she had to pick her battles. Something small and quick might be doable, if she was able to sneak up on it. That was the plan, anyway, when she spotted the dark and inattentive hare. She stayed low to the ground, creeping towards the hare very slowly. She'd been following her for a while and she was getting closer and closer..

With absolutely no idea she was being followed, and in fact no experience ever with a wild dog, Mnyama hopped along thoughtfully on her way. She wasn't stupid but she wasn't being so perfectly careful, her mother's behavior had made her defiantly bold to prove her mother was a needless worrier. She knew it was dangerous out here, but she wasn't that worried about.

"Stupid Angavu," she muttered, stopping and standing up as high as she could on her hind legs to get a look around. Maybe if she found a rock or something she could climb up, she'd get a better look around where she was. Then she could really decide.

"Better appreciate.."

Huruma ducked down against the ground in a hurry when she realized the hare had stopped and was looking around. She waited a second and peeked up. Now was her chance, the hare was stopped- and while she was looking around, so long as she didn't look back to the wild dog...

She inched forward slowly, getting ready to pounce.

Luckily for the inattentive hare, there was someone watching. In a nearby tree the small honeyguide bird was perched, wondering about how she could have lost her badger. Stupid boy, couldn't trust him for anything! She had built herself a nest and mostly watched out for him to happen by. The feather from the goddess she helped was built into her nest, she would be able to dig it out to show off if she did find Kunda again. She just happened to look out into the grass at just the right moment, spotting the hare being stalked by a small yellow dog. Normally, she might not have interfered.. but she hadn't done anything exciting in a while. With a shrill warning chirp, she hopped off the branch and flew in closer to alert the hare and distract the wild dog.

Startled by the sudden screech, Mnyama instinctively tensed- almost wobbling off her feet- and looked to the source of the sound. It didn't sound like an attack call, it was a warning- which was weird because nothing was around. She watched the bird fly, very quickly, between her and.. something behind her. Doing the only smart thing, she ran- not far, but just far enough to get away from whatever was going down. She scrambled to get to the tree the bird had flown from, that was a reasonable distance, a reasonable location. And once she was behind it, she looked back.

Also startled by the shrill call, Huruma was thrown off and lifted her head up and looked out for what was coming, forgetting completely about the hunt she was on. What was that sound? What was disturbing her? It was very surprising to see a small bird flying towards her. With a low growl, she jumped back, lifting a paw and preparing to swat if necessary. Even if she knew what was going on, it was unlikely she would be the first to speak, that right seem to be with the intruder.

Stupid bird. Maybe she'd have to catch it and eat it instead..

"Watch out!" she cried with similar shrill chirp to her voice, though the hare was already on the move- which was lucky. She gave another cry and stopped short of flying into the wild dog's face. With as satisfied a grin as one with a beak could manage, she laughed- and did her best to keep a safe distance. Frustrated animals were not the most accurate but they could still hurt you. Her head was spinning for a while after Amadet had gotten her. Stupid, stupid lioness.

"No snacks today, puppy," she taunted.

Mnyama's eyes widened when the dog popped out of the grass, realizing just how close she was behind her it had been, how close she had come to a confrontation. Especially since she had stopped moving- and paying attention to anything of that particular sort. She watched the bird, looking quite stunned. She obviously owed the bird quite a bit, she was so bold to go at the predator like that. It was very interesting, and she was optimistic enough to hop out towards the now fighting pair.

"No?" she called, jumping forward and snapping out for the bird- she would not be taunted, that wasn't something she could deal with easily, especially with such circumstances. Loss of a hunt, a grumbling stomach and a confusing mess where a bird saved a hare.. she wanted to get something to eat, and this seemed to be the best option.

"I'll have you!" she challenged, missing her first shot and jumping again.

Another shrill cry was released when the dog snapped at her, and it was likely what saved her life- combined with a push backwards with her wings. If there was one thing she was good at it, it was that call- particularly using it to direct another to food. It was funny that she was using it now to specifically stop someone from eating.

"I don't think so!" she shot back, though she narrowly missed getting caught- letting out a small chirp of surprise when a tail feather was pulled from her body.

The hare flinched when she saw the feathers in the dog's mouth, but was impressed nonetheless. The bird was not caught, she was not running away-- but she was not winning. It was her turn to help! The only problem was wondering exactly how she could help. From her experience, the best defense was pointing out your powerful friends. Her family of lions was always her excuse, her backup plan for if she was in any trouble. The dog was a lot smaller than most of the lions she was around, perhaps she could use that--

"Lion!" she cried in as alarming a voice as she could muster, hopping forward and then stumbling back and ducking down. Would it work? Her ears perked up and she listened for reactions.

Lion!

One word was enough to cause the wary wild dog to take a look- whether or not she believed it, it was in an alarming tone about something she was aiming to avoid. It deserved a moment of attention. With the feather still sticking out of her mouth, her head turned and she scanned- no lion immediately jumped out at her, but she kept looking, not realizing that if the hare could see it, she should be able to see it. She was the taller creature.

Her eyes flicked up when she heard the cry that a lion was near, sounding very much like this was an approaching danger and not merely someone investigating the confrontation- and she didn't see anything. Almost simultaneously, she pushed backwards more. She saved the hare, taunting a predator further might not end well.. so it was time to leave. Without another sound to the wild dog, she whirled around in the air, dropping a bit in height before she flapped her wings and headed back towards the tree. She didn't stop there, though, she kept going- aiming for another tree that was in visible distance.

"Come on," she peeped as she flew by the ducking hare.

Mnyama lifted her head up and peeked out over the grass when she heard the shuffling, growling and calls stop. Her trick had worked? Her eyes were barely above the grass when suddenly the bird was flying towards her, flying over her with a rush of wind and an instruction to follow. She didn't need to be told twice, she turned and ran off in the direction that Kiongozi flew. And she did not look back. She would find out if the stupid yellow dog was following soon enough!
