(( Don't yet have her tag & her uncerted is too large to post..but she's in my siggy XD))
The mare gave the fallen tree trunk a calculating stare, eyeing the moss that still clung to its side, noting the black parts that denoted rot. The wood gave off a musty smell, and insects scurried over it; the forest doing it's bit to take back the wood. She kicked off the ground, hooves biting into the soft wood, sending a shower of woodchips up into the air as she did so.
The trunk had fallen against another tree, the incline wasn't a great one, and so she was able to walk slowly along it and peer out through the branches of standing tree, out over the valley from the hill where she was located. She liked being here..able to take the lay of the land, without being seen herself. The fallen trunk shifted slightly under her weight and she stopped - moving, even breathing for a moment. When it seemed to have settled she let go her breath and looked again..

Imriel could not say he frequented the woods all too often. There was something about the way the trees crowded around him that made him uncomfortable. Perhaps it was the wind blood in him that made the young stallion relish the open air and uncrowded skies. They made him feel peaceful and relaxed, though logically he knew attack was far more likely in those quarters than in these. Still, he stood out so much, and though he normally wasn't adverse to that, it somehow made Imriel unhappy here.
Glancing nervously over his shoulder, Imriel side stepped, smacking himself neatly into a rotten log, his hoof going through the soft wood and sending up a fine spray of wood fragments. It made a large noise in the quiet forest, and he shuddered again, this time sure that something was going to leap out of the bushes and eat him. Where had he gotten such a high strung temperament? That was his own, he supposed.
Just then, Imriel did hear a noise. His whole body tensed as he leaned forward, scanning the area around him to try and determine the source of the chaos. What could it be? There was a flash of brown out of the corner of his eye, and he turned suddenly.
"I'll fight you, whoever you are! I won't be kalona lunch today!" he called out, somewhat foolishly.

Fox had watched the stallion since he'd caught her eye, turning quietly on her perch, shielded as she was for the moment amongst the branches. He was boldly coloured; not a good thing amongst the browns and the greens of the forest but by his nervous looks he didn't come out here often.
She jumped in a nonchalant fashion from the fallen tree, landing gracefully a small way from him, her hooves making a thudding noise as they impacted. 'Will you now? You have it in you to defend yourself from some of the worst of our kind?' she mused outloud, though it was more to herself than to the stallion.
'As you can see, I am no Kalona. Good thing for you.' she said, giving him a strange look. He didn't seem much to look at, but maybe appearances were deceptive.

Well... No, he couldn't defend himself against a kalona, could he? But Imriel was hardly going to tell a complete stranger that- especially one that had just jumped out from nowhere, startling him dreadfully in the process so that he jumped off the ground, a significant amount of air under his hooves. He didn't mind being surprised, but this random mare seemed to be rather rude about it as well. Well, not everyone has Yei and Grencia as parents.
"I think I could take on anyone with enough time to get away." Imriel puffed up his chest, trying to appear larger than he actually was. Deeper in chest and in voice, and more intimidating to boot. Not that it worked particularly well. At least he had his height advantage.
As the mare stated she was not a kalona, Imriel gave a relieved sigh. Thank all the gods. He could not deal with a kalona today. "Thank goodness you aren't. Who and what are you then?" He still couldn't make out the definite shape of the mare, and he was sullenly unwilling to give up his name until she had revealed hers. Call it sulking if you must- Imriel did not enjoy surprises of this nature. Mares shouldn't come from trees, even if the trees were low enough to the ground to jump on to.

'As you say..' Fox walked forwards, appraising him thoughtfully. He was nearly a head taller than her smaller but athletic frame, but she warranted that she could take him herself if necessary, nevermind a full grown and predatory Kalona.
'What am I? A Soquili, same as you. A fighter to those I've known in the past.' she swished her tail as she closed the distance between herself and the fiery coloured stallion.
'Fox is my name. And you?'

Imriel was used to the fighting mentality. It was bred into his family line, even if it seemed to have skipped over him entirely. Make love, not war! Well, there had to be an odd one out in every family, right?
"You don't move much like a soquili. Are you sure that you're not a fox? It is your name, after all, and names are very telling." Imriel was half joking, half not. He had heard of Skinwalkers, but having never seen one, he wasn't entirely sure what to expect. Was he about to get eaten? Probably not. Fox didn't seem evil. Just rather... He couldn't think of the word to accurately describe the soquili standing before him, and he didn't even attempt.
"I'm Imriel. My mom is Yei and my da is Grencia." Always so proud of his family lineage, was young Imriel. He didn't particularly care if this strange mare knew about it- in fact, it was all the better. She seemed as if she might have lead a rather lonely life, though Imriel certainly couldn't judge.
"Do you live out here by yourself?"

Fox chuckled. At least he had some alertness to him, was aware at least a little bit. It was true she didn't move exactly like most, she was lighter on her feet because it helped her be ready to move in a moment. Most clomped along as if their hooves were weighted down.
'No, it's just a name. I would move as I do if I were called 'Duck'.' She would have been amused at his thoughts if she knew them..Skinwalkers were her enemy as much as they were most Soquili. Not though because of what they did but in the blind manner that they did it. Aggression was a tool, to be used when necessary. She would spill blood if she had to - but out of defense of herself, or another.
She supposed she too would be proud of her family if she had any clue as to who they were. 'I am by myself for now. I don't belong to any one herd, just travel with one for as long as I need to.' she looked away from Imriel for a moment, listening with her head tilted slightly to one side. Satisfied she looked back at him. 'Lived with your family all your life and not travelled anywhere far I'm guessing?'
