Hello I wanted to drop by and leave you some notes about the guild but first, I would like to introduce myself.
I'm a college student that is soon to graduate with a BA in studio arts. I then plan to go to another college to get another BA in culinary arts and continue with a profession in the creative fields.
I have been through all the grades and been through all the highschool problems and even some college ones and I'm still living life and going through what it has to offer me.
I see this guild as having potential, however I've found nothing apart from 2 limited offerings in the threads that make the guild material necessary of being a guild... Staff Office (Staff Only) Rantation/Ventlation (Rant/Vent/Advice threads) Oh No Inspiration! Imagine Area (Creative Release) Dreams Become Reality (Quest Threads) Release Realm (Role-playing) Foolish Utterings The primary issue I see after reading the introduction you provided that tells about yourself, the guild owner, is that you want the guild to be a place for people to come talk and let out their problems, yet you've supressed the significance of that to one thread ("rantation/ventlation")... I understand that you want this to also be a place for people to show their artwork, to which you've provided two similar links (there only needs to be one)... these more significant aspects in this guild are belittled and made less important by the other, what I think are, unnecessary links/ topics which are "quest threads", "role-playing", "foolish utterings", and "staff office".
Primarily, "staff office" is unnecessary because correspondance between guild "staff" is what messages are for and shouldn't be vieweable by the public. Next is the "quest threads"; your mission statement never offers a need for a quest thread. There are numerous places on gaia to go for quests and role-playing and there are definitely several role-playing guilds. I don't think that a "venting" guild needs to have something so irrelevant to what I think your mission statement is... "Foolish utterings" is also seemingly unnecessary because that's what chatterbox is for. There is, however a need for an "other issues" thread link...
Again, I don't think your guild reflects at all what you want it to be. Until it is shaped up and offers people a reason to why they should come here, then it won't be more than a very expensive thread that people have to search for in order to find. It needs a strong mission statement that really makes an impact and makes people want to come and feel safe here. It needs good organization and a non-bias staff. (I feel like you are unsure about people who have dropped out of the educational system just by looking at the poll which asks for peoples education status.. "... drop out O_o" .. what does that imply? Also, "real world"? What makes the educational system not in the real world? Everything in life is the real world.)
After revising the mission statement, I would start revise those thread topics into something that reflects the mission statement and what you want (maybe boil it down to places to vent about and things to vent about instead of roll playing and another chatterbox.) You first have to find out what you want to do and make it happen.

Ps, feel free to reply and I'll help if I can. I don't mean for this to be a critical remark, only a review that will hopefully point you into a more successful position.

Easy as that =)

Thank you for your review. Constructive criticism is always welcomed even if it is a bit on the harsh side. The reason for the limits at this point in time is due to the fact that we are just starting out and it takes certain funding in order to expand and make it into something more. Our plan has been to wait until we were opened in order to see what we truly needed more or less space for. Also, the idea was originally for this to just be a place to vent and seek advice, but then Karu saw the potential for Release to be so much more then just a place to rant, but a place to explore your creativity and share it with others. Creativity being such a broad spectrum, we decided to go more into that direction as opposed to just seeking advice and talking about our life trials. You presented some really good points. Perhaps the mission statement isn't quite clear enough. All things for us to take into consideration.
We do like our staff office, and that stays no matter how irrelevant it seems to the guild's main purpose. It's much easier for us all to get together in one area here to discuss our ideals and the set-up of the guild, along with any revisions as opposed to via individual PM's. It keeps things organized and ensures that each of the crew members are all on the same page, reading the same thing. This also helps to avoid any confusion among us.
Pointless as it may seem, the Foolish Utterings is like our version of a spam area. Nearly every guild/forum has one. Some people just need that space to be random, have fun and unwind without all of the negativity the Chatterbox often has to offer. No one want's to be serious and to the point all of the time.
Well, that's my response. What say the rest of you to this?

What Len said pretty much sums up what I was thinking as well.

What would you do...
Thank you very very much for the criticism.
The guild came about (as I'm sure you've already read) how I've basically lost my best friends and I didn't have anywhere to go except my friends online (being social away from the internet isn't really my high point) which is why I wanted to make a safe place to just let things go.
And as Lenelee said, I did see the possibility for using the word "Release" into a broader aspect. You could "release" your creativity and artistic ability and such.
I felt it absolutely necessary to make a quest forum because I have history there being a YCQ Invader in a questing forum on another guild. It's where I've met Lenelee and quite frankly, some of my best friends on Gaia. Actually, all of the staff would be YCQ invaders.
I know you didn't point this out, but I do know that I tend to rant and talk about myself, but that's only because I want the members to know that we're real people since other guilds I've been in, the captains and crew members and such are basically... dead.
Role playing, I think at least, is a form of creativity and therefore a type of "release" and I know how friends of mine like to role play and such. Lenelee being a moderator of a role playing forum some time ago was a huge bonus I didn't take into consideration until she pointed it out.
I suppose the Foolish Utterings could be a type of "other issues" thread which is a very interesting thought. Though, I really didn't think there would be an "other issues" thread since in Rantation Ventlation you can say anything you wish that's bothering you or worrying you or you just need to get off your chest. May it be family issues, overload of homework, getting laid off, boyfriend/girlfriend things. Absolutely anything at all.
And I'm pretty sure I've limited the staff office to crew members and up only... though I'm pretty sure you're saying that it's unpleasant to the eye to see that there. As Lenelee has said, it is more organized than any message system could ever be, things are handled much more quickly and I can't think of any other reason that the developers would create the option to make a forum for crew members and up only except to have a forum to talk about and organize the guild and such.
After consideration on the two topics that I made I realize now that they're unnecessary and I'll delete them right after this post. It's like how you write something and it seems like a good idea first, but leave it for two or so days and revise it and you'll realize that it was as great as you initially thought, you know?
Once again thank you for the criticism, I hope that my responses have answered anything that you were wondering about the making of the guild and whatnot. And I am sorry for the long reply from the guild captain herself, being fourteen and in freshmen year in high school and having the first taste of restricted yet freedom nonetheless I've been busy and as I have said distracted. I really do look forward to any suggestions and comments that you have.
It really does help a lot ^^
Edit: Oh and for the drop out option, I put that down because I know of many people who are either drop outs or aren't in school period. It's a fact of life that there are drop outs, and I'm just acknowledging them though I guess the way I did it wasn't the best way which I apologize for.
...if you weren't afraid?
