Godfrey peeked around the edge of the top of the stairs, trying to see if anyone besides himself was out and about in the Owlery. It seemed not, for which he was glad. He ascended the last steps, the eyes of a few dozen Owls on him, before they closed their eyes and went back to sleep, or ruffled their feathers and waited for it to get a bit darker out, so they could go hunting.
"Hey Heinrich." Godfrey approached a hole where an owl was sitting, and pulled a napkin with a muffin out of his pocket, as well as a piece of bacon. His owl, who was a snowy owl but no relation to Hedwig, puffed himself up in a smarmy way and very delicately picked off bits of the orange cranberry muffin while a few nearby owls looked on with jealousy.
Godfrey set the rest of the muffin down on the ledge for his owl to eat, along with the piece of bacon, which Heinrich grabbed right away and kept it clutched in his claw, so no other owl would think to swoop down and eat it. He payed no attention to Godfrey as the boy petted his feathers briefly, and then sat himself upon the edge of the window sill and pulled out a piece of parchment and a quill.
Godfrey stared outside for a few minutes, thinking of what he wanted to say and watching some of the people that were doing activities outside, before he smoothed the parchment out on his lap and began to write. As usual he began his letter with the simple greeting of 'S.' For 'Snake.' It was quite silly of him, but if anyone intercepted the letter, he didn't want them to see 'Voldemort' and then end up getting his friend into trouble.Quote: 'S
How are you doing this week? And before you ask, I've been fine! Something new has happened, but I'll detail that further down in the letter.
How has your work been going? Have you been successful with that new breed yet? It'd be really neat to see them in person.... or for you to actually send me some pictures! -poke-
And thanks for that tip for transfiguration spells that deal with tortoises. It's actually helped me improve on pretty much all my transfiguration involving turning objects into animals with hard shells. McGonagal's noted my improvement, I hope. Still terribly behind though, as is usual. But I'm getting sort of tired of being in all the time and not being able to see anyone. Especially you! Hasn't it been about eight months now since we first met?
Anyways, how is Clementine? You know, I saw something for sale at a shop on Sunday that I think she'd really like, I think I'll pick it up and send it to you. Even if she doesn't like it, I'm sure she'll have fun chewing it up.
I'd really like to give it to her in person though. Am I dropping enough hints? Hah!
I know usually you're too busy, and I'm always too busy, but like I wrote above, I've been getting a bit stir crazy with all this work, and the approach of spring isn't making it any easier.
So, if you're not busy or away the weekend after next, maybe I could come visit? I'd really like to see your house, and Clementine, and all your snakes, and all your books, and you of course! If you're going to be away that weekend or too caught up in things... well, I'll make the time whenever you're free! I've pretty much decided to just bugger it all.
I guess I should tell you my news before you EXPLODE with curiosity. I've told you about my friend Josh, right? Well something happened last weekend, and to sum it up without getting into the gushy details, we're together now.
I know I don't usually write to you about this kind of thing. But truthfully I kind of need some advice. It's great being with him, and it's definitely a lot different from the last person I had a 'relationship' with. In fact I'd consider Josh my first real boyfriend. But it's also a bit odd now. Before we'd hang out and goof around and laugh and just feel like friends. And now it usually ends up with us going off some place and snogging!
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad about a good snog. But I guess.... I just sort of miss having him as my friend. It's different now. I don't want to go off and snog other blokes or anything, I'd NEVER do that, but I kind of miss that casual friendship we had.
I guess it just feels weird because it's my first real relationship. And what I really wanted to ask was: What was your first relationship like? Your first REAL relationship anyways. Were you friends first? How did it end? Was it a girl or a boy?
You don't have to answer if you don't want to though. I know I'm getting a bit too personal and digging around in places you might not want anyone to dig.
Other than that though, Josh... he's PERFECT! He's really the best boyfriend I think I could ever have, though he hasn't exactly seen every side of me yet. And I guess I'm sort of worried about really showing him things I like and who I am, in case I scare him off or
Didn't mean to blather on, sorry. And I can just imagine you raising an eyebrow at this letter right now, seeing all the things scribbled out. But I only had one piece of parchment.
Well, I'm running out of parchment so I'll just wrap this up. Hope you've been well and give Clementine a pat for me, would you?
G' Godfrey's writing was neat and loopy, pretty. But he'd made a mess of the parchment with things he'd scratched out, and places where he'd added smiley faces and little doodles of hearts over Josh's name, which he hadn't meant to do, and other random things. He sighed at the messiness of it. Usually he tried to refrain from adding things like that because he didn't want to make his friend vomit at the cuteness. But he was a teenage boy still and couldn't really help it. Though he felt like he was acting like a girl, which he couldn't help either.
Godfrey sighed again and rolled up the parchment, pulling a ribbon out of his pocket to tie it with. He hadn't told anyone about his secret friend, mostly because he didn't want him to. Josh didn't know about him either, and he wasn't sure about telling him. At least not yet.
"C'mere, Heinrich."His owl looked up from his bacon rind, and held out a foot, balancing on the other as he continued to nibble on his treat. Godfrey tied the small scroll to his owl's leg.
"It's Friday, you know who it goes to by now, don't you?"
His owl gave him a look, something reminiscent of, 'Yes, idiot, now make sure you bring me more bacon tomorrow.'
He patted his owl with a smile on his face, thinking about how it'd been almost a week that he and Josh had been together, and Heinrich took off into the sky. Godfrey watched the owl fly away until he was out of sight, and then sighed and got up, leaving the Owlery to go do something constructive. Like find Josh and snog the heck out of him.

*Mounts the stairs brandishing a sparkling handmade card, Happy Mother's Day sprawled across the front in loopy script; mist-made red hears magically gravitate around the card, bouncing and emitting soft 'poofs' as they vanish and reappear* I thought Mum would like something I made myself better than some crappy postcard.

I don't know why you even bother. She'll look at it for two seconds then put it away in a drawer somewhere. Then it'll sit there for three years until she takes the time to throw it away.

*Glances at Elliot expressionlessly for a moment before the corners of his mouth curl into a smile* Actually, the last three cards I made her are tacked up above the telly. Good go at being a jerk, though; five points for effort.

*Smirks and shoves a small package at him, having pulled it from his back pocket*
Send that too. So you don't look quite as pathetic with your fancy parchment.

*His smile deepens, a glitter of genuine joy in his grey sky eyes as he looks at his boyfriend; steps forward and presses his mouth against Elliot's neck, nudging the boy back against the wall as he nips him* Tilt your head back.

Don't you need to send those off?

*Glances down to him briefly as he moves his knee before looking back up*
You need to send those out to your Mother, May-flower.
Wouldn't want to forget her because you're too busy trying to flaunt your desperation to have sex with me.

*Twists the metal of Elliot's piercings beneath his shirt and continues to smile against his neck, a smudge of purple gathered beneath his mouth; Elliot had always bruised easily* That's fine. *Draws away and takes the package as well, coaxing an owl down with a cheerful whistle; fastens their gifts to the owl's ankle and pets it gently for good measure; steps back to allow the bird to flutter out the window*

That's funny; usually it's you that's full of me. *Flashes a boyish grin as he turns back to his boyfriend, holding out his hand* We'll be late for class anyway.
