So in the forum I hangout in, the new craze is Pokemon Trainer avatars. [It's the Avatar Talk forum.]
Almost anyone could relate to Pokemon, being it one of the most popular children's program back-in-the-day.

So I was wondering, what childhood inspirations inspire you to create anything?
Or what inspired you as a child to do the things you do now?

[Be it avatars on Gaia, artwork, music, literature, etc.]

I wonder if there was anything as a child that inspired me to draw... I really can't remember....

I get inspired by Pokemon now :]
Drawing Pokemon trainers is so much fun!
Ive been inspired by other favorite childhood movie before too, which is Anastasia. Both in drawing and its ALMOST gotten me to write, but alas, i am too lazy for that!

(I also found it funny that Firefox recognizes Pokemon as a word in the dictionary. )

i would have to say, what inspired me when i was younger was some show i used to watch. i don't remember what it was called, but there was this really, really old guy. he would sit at a giant drawing pad and draw random stuff. he kind looked like a fisherman. he was pretty good, in my opinion. xD

also when i was younger, my friend amber (who was already into writing and painting), would always invite me to a bunch of her art shows. she would have to tell me there was free food or that she'd get me some on the way home if i went along with her. xD;
then after a while i just started going because i started enjoying it.. and taking a bigger interest in it. :3

but now what inspires me is my friends, XD
they're the best source i have.

you may be, because like, apparently there's two shows (i think) with sailor men looking artists..
like the other day in health, we watched a vid on the eyeball, and there was an old fisher dude that was paintin' an eyeball, and my friend joe is all, "wow, that guy's TV show is REALLY boring.." and i'm like, hmm i wonder if black rose is thinking of the same show as joey or me.. because i remember in the show i'm thinking about, the guy was really cool and he lived in a giant magical house and stuff. XD

so yeah, lol xD

Hmm... I think I was most inspired by books, or when I was really young, I loved the sea so I'd always be sketching orcas in my notepads.

I'm a bit older. So childhood isn't Pokémon for me. At least not the new one. I only recognized the first 50 ones and then lost interest.

So let's see.

Art: I don't really know, what inspired me, but I liked to draw fish, when I was at kindergarten. It's a pity I haven't kept them. I enjoy to look at nature or draw pictures inspired by some mangas I read. Like Mars.

Literature: I wrote fantasy stories until seventeen or so. I think The Fellowship of the Ring, some books of Hohlbein (German author) and Anne Rice inspired me. And some dreams I had.

edit: About Pokémon: Like I said. I lost interest in them. They are sweet and all, but not really something special. And I don't like the story. When I was younger, you were watching Darkwing Duck and other stuff from Disney.

How can Pokemon not be for you? I grew up on that, even still, I try to watch what I can. I'll always have Pokemon. ALWAYS.

Also, I fixed all your mistakes. :3

I found a few more. Wow, I really have to improve my spelling. Ok the post is fixed and I hope you understand what I mean now. And when Pokémon came up, I think I was 14 or 15. I had other interests at this age. But I have to admit the game on game boy was fun. I liked the yellow edition. My mother didn't let me have one, but I lent it from a friend.

It's alright. I'm not perfect myself, but I do see what you were trying to say. :3 Yea, the game has been, and will always be, a staple in my hand-held gaming inventory. :3
