It was the middle of the day and the sun was beating down on the Earth. There was a field filled with the most beautiful flowers that a person could ever see the range of colours fit the discription of a rainbow and the grass blades were swaying in the gentle breeze. This place was not far from the lands were the Indians lived. Crouched down in the middle of the field was a little girl a odd one at that. Her long gold and black hair hung loosly over her shoulder. Tied back with ribbon of gold decorated in many odd simbols which were alien to these people. Glowing blue beeds hung around her neck and her white clothes hung loose. Not a stain on her. She was different to the other people here but bleding in just well enough to the village people not to draw attention to herself. She looked over these people as was her job as an angeni. This world was hers to protect and ever creature in it, she held dear to her heart.
Picking the flowers out of the ground they soon pilled up to make a beautiful range of colours. They were a gift for her mother. She loved flowers and thought she might like these very much indeed. Getting up she put one of her bare feet infront of the other. She was still no good walking on two legs and she knew it would take a lot of practice to make her advance to the level of even a young two legger. Making her way back home she soon came to a river. With a small smile she walked along the bank looking up at the sky in a daydream. Tilting her head her foot slipped down the side. She screamed as she soon felt herself hit the water. The flowers before went rushing down. Her body latched into a log that kept her still. It was hard to keep her eyes open. A scratch on her head cried out a little blood that came down her face. She clung to it the best she could but could feel herself going dizzy. It had happened so fast she found herself in shock and unable to move. What had happened? she wondered before she closed her eyes but still trying to stay awake.
The waters pounted againat the little two-leggers body pinning her to the side of the log which her nimble fingers held onto. She wondered if she was getting out of this a tear running down her face she wanted her daddy more than anything. She wanted him to come and help her but she could not scream only let out small pants and squeaks the water was so cold. Why was it so cold? she wondered shivering.

It was a splendid, sunny afternoon on which Vezian wandered off farther than he ever went before. Something pulled him in that direction and as he looked out at the clearing before him, he understood why. There was a big stream that cracked the two landmasses apart: separated wild land from several human homes. He didn't exactly understand the ways of the two-legged creatures, but they sure were interesting! And he didn't mind swimming by them, not at all! Heck, he would swim in almost any situation. So off he went to the water.
Once he got there, the first thing he noticed was the current. It was pretty strong. This was, of course, perfectly normal, as the snow had just melted and the water's velocity rose with its volume. He was feeling pretty brave today and there was a rocky part along the stream that was more shallow than the rest, safe enough to play in. He began picking his way carefully through the muddy bank.
He arrived at the rocky area and proceeded in prancing onto the mossy surface, barely covered by water. He watched it ripple in wonder and joy, and so these feelings were furthered when a flower drifted down the stream. The sight was quite beautiful. Another flower followed the first. Then another. Soon, there was a rainbow on the water, formed by flowers. This was not normal. His hearing wasn't as refined, so he couldn't hear the muffled screams of the human child. Yet his eyes widened in horror as he gazed upstream and spotted the girl clinging onto a log, fighting for her life. She was hurt: his sharp vision could make out the beads of blood slipping from her forehead into the water. And though he was in a safe area a bit downstream from her, this was merely a part of the river. It was forked and she was heading for disaster if he didn't take action and fast.
Vezian was very glad of his passion for swimming at this moment. His legs were built up and learned to the skill as were his eyes which were adapted to flawlessly function underwater. But he was just a foal, and the current was strong. As attuned to the water as he was, he couldn't just saunter across to her side effortlessly. But if she cooperated... Humans didn't understand the language of horses, did they? Worth a shot, anyhow. "Hey!! Can you hear me?!" What a stupid question in this situation. Oh well.

Terentia opened her eyes ever so slightly even as a human they were back through and through from the pupil leasking all the way around the ball. She pulled her head up ever so slighlty to see him, from what she could make out he was a small foal. Some green colour. She tilted her head putting a small smile onto her face there was someone there she could not believe it. She streached and leant down hugging the log some more she could feel the strain she was putting on it. She bit her lip and closed her eyes before she felt herself being pushed away "I am sorry, I cant play today..." she muttered before bracing herself. It snapped ever so slightly before it then shattered.
The next thing she knew she was seeing water and bubbles as she sank slightly being taken away by the waters. She coughed trying her best to break the surface even as a horse she was not able to swim very well she had never been taught and living in the mountains there was little reason who you should learn how to swim. Never the less she tried to grab hold of anything near her to keep her afloat but the fingers just could not get a grip.

Vezian cocked his head as she talked. He could understand her. There was something very strange about her. The humans he'd seen before had normal eyes and this child's were definitely not normal. He lost himself in those endless-seeming black voids that she had for eyes. And so he stayed until she moved. Was moved, actually. The current was getting the best of her. Did humans not have the sense to teach their children to swim? He couldn't possibly swim all the way across the current to her, but if he could jump into the middle of the stream from the bank then just maybe...
He hesitated no more. A second lost could make his attempt a failure by default. His strong, sure legs easily got him to land and he crossed the wedge of land that created the fork between calm river and threatening rapids. He'd have to be a way ahead of her along the stream to do this right, after all. They would definitely be sent through the rapids, both of them, but if he was with her they'd have a much better chance at survival, or so he figured.
As he reached the other side of the wedge, his heart began beating faster. His head throbbed a little as he gazed out at the dangerous rapids before him but he looked down at the child, approaching faster, trying to cling to anything that would help her, and everything froze for a second. For this strange moment, everything seemed to be moving in slow motion and his senses grew sharper. He could feel every muscle in his body tense for the jump to the midpoint of the begging of the rapids. He backed down a step. Two steps. Three. And then he thrust himself forward. Three distinct heartbeats throbbed as he soared and then everything became fast again. Too fast.
The water here was noticeably colder. Though it wasn't that bad to him, he could only imagine what it must feel like to the human girl. After all, humans had no thick coats. This was no time for that, however, and he fought to propel himself to the place where the girl would be carried to. He did this easily. The action was far easier than he'd imagine it to be. And so, bracing himself, he firmly dug his hooves into the bottom, waiting for her to hit. He knew for sure that she would arrive at the place where he was. He also knew that the second she hit him, he wouldn't be able to hold his place anymore. That he would have to fight twice as hard to get them to safety. And with this knowledge, he filled his lungs with air and closed his eyes in preparation.

There was a moment of weightlessness as the girl continued down the river her long hair flowing behind her and her black eyes hidden behind her lids. The cold water slid slenderly past her and finally she found herself hitting something. She clung to it and opened her eyes slightly to see him. A blanket of green apearing infront of her.
Her delecate arms wrapped around the colt and her head rested on him, her breathing was calm and deep and her conciousness started to come back. She could not believe her luck. If he had not been here for sure her life would have ended or she would of hurt her self tremendously at the least.
She did not know what to do infact there was nothing she could eccept cling to him and hope for the sake at both of them that he would be able to save them both.

One. Two. Three.
His hooves were uprooted from the river's bottom and they were off into the merciless waters. He gave the child what he hoped was a reassuring whinny, but it was cut short as his head was forced into submersion. No. He might've been used to holding his breath, but this child felt frail. Fragile. Breakable. His legs struggled to push them up and, when they found means to push off from the constantly moving ground and his head breached the surface once more, he frantically looked about for the point at which they'd have a good chance of crawling out upon. And so he spotted one. There was a curve coming up in the river, and siding this was a promising bank. The rapids would be against them at this particular point, but this chance was as good as any.
And though Vezian did not know at the time, around that bend, there was a murderous plunge downwards. This was, indeed, their last chance.
The bend came closer and closer and once again, Vez found himself bracing himself for another struggle. He summoned all that he had learned about swimming in his days of playing in the stream that ran through his parents' land. He lunged sideward to bring himself closer, but the bank surface here was covered in slippery, sharp rocks and they couldn't possibly get across them to safety. A sudden rapid flung them forward and the real challenge began. He moved in wild jerks towards the friendly bank, yet in such ways that wouldn't make it harder for the young girl.
They'd have a better chance underwater. If they could get under that violent thrust of water. Vezian took no breath, knowing that the less oxygen, the longer they'd be able to stay down. And this was what they needed. He glanced over to the young girl on his back for a second, noticing her true beauty for the first time. Such beauty should be preserved and protected.
Closer.
He ducked under, his eyes used to the flood of water. He could make out the distinct water bubbles, where they were forced into a spiral of great velocity by the current. He delved deeper, feeling his lungs protesting against the lack of breath and knowing that the girl was no better off. It was deeper here, and only once his hooves hit the ground did he begin to ascend, merely avoiding the thrust. He felt his tail mangle under its force and shuddered, pushing up faster. They were safe.
