To be machine or man? Isn't that what's on every Amputee's mind? In a time where scientific advancement has reached one of it's finest pinnacles, you can no longer worry should you lose a limb. Replacing plastic limbs with machinery, it will be as if you never lost your arm in the first place! Because we, at Windstread Amputees, believe an accident should be cost-free.

At least, that's what the ads tell you. In reality, being an amputee is the living version of hell. With the world's economy now driven by social status, being an amputee is as close to peasentry as it gets. To become an amputee, whether or not getting a mechanical limb, is to become a freak in the privelidged eye. A perversion of nature.

However, with peasentry comes rebellion. And rebellion is no topic of fables in the city of Lasiurus. For those who become amputees desire to become human in the eyes of man once again. So, what is to happen to those who lose part of their humanity?

Anaheim Windstread, bigger brother to the founder of Windstread amputees, is the first amputee. The prototype of it's industry, and the first "freak of nature" to the privelidged. He plays a key factor in the standing of all amputees.

Terminology:

Amputee: The basic name for those who lack a basic organ or limb, whether it was a birth defect or tragic accident. These people can either replace their limb with a mechanical counterpart, or live their life showing what was missing. Usually, the only way to tell if there is a mechanical organ is that they're still alive with said organ.

Defect: Basically, the limb or organ that was replaced by the mechanical counterpart. The name came to mind when most people saw these new limbs and saw people has disgunsting "Frankensteins" of the new era. For a very high price, these defects can be made more human-like, so as to hide from discrimination.

Script: The social standings, and basic currency, within Lasirius. A script is known for the basic "part" a family has played in the better of the city, and is just a small card with the city's national crest embedded on it, with the material of the crest showing their standing in social hierarchy.

Silver: Basically for the shop owners. Using amputees as their employees, the silver scripters usually have some form of respect, but just barely above the level of amputees. These people are usually known as "Silver scripters", due to their script material.

Gold: Usually granted to military families and veterans, this level of hierarchy is quite common for those who wish to have any form of respect within the land. These people are known as the "Golden scripters", again for their script material.

Platinum: The highest form of script, usually granted to the families of the original founders of the city and large corporate giants, these people can purchase goods just by their social standings alone. These are known as the "Pure scripters," due to their usual immunity within the city.

La Terra: The secret Amputee resistance group, formed by rogue amputees. This group has remained a rumor, mostly being an excuse for a bratty child's behaviour. Their existance has been only known due to the hope of amputees, but some believe it to be a real threat to the world order

"What....happened?" Was the question on his mind. A maelstrom of sounds had just occured, with metal twisting and screaming. It was in winter, the snowflakes and wind confirmed it. A man was talking in the background. The explosion had his hearing messed up. Anaheim, looking around the area, saw 2 lumps of flesh nearby. Gasping in horror, it was his parents. The only thing more frightening then seeing their lfeless bodies on the ground was the fact that he couldn't see his hand when he attempted to reach out to them. Nearby. His arms. "My.... my arms.." He said to himself in a cold fright.

As if a whip had cracked on the back of his head, Anaheim awoke from his vision of the past. A cold glass of beer, with little drops of water running down the edges of the glass, was right in his face. "Gettin a little woozy there, Anaheim?" The bartender, Gradus, asked him. "If anything, it was a wake-up call." He told his friend before taking a long gulp of the liquid. "Don't you think you've had enough to drink already?" Gradus asked him. "You know as much as I do that my line of work is running dry." Anaheim replied. "So until you have mroe work for me to do, all I can do is sit here and drink your booze." He snapped, taking another swig.

Akamaki shielded her eye's with her left hand from the glare of the sun. Hot day today.. She thought to herself as she continued down the street. She was currently delivering a spare stool to the local bar. She had the box balanced on her right shoulder and she gripped it lightly to make sure it didn't fall off. Sweat beaded her forehead from the heat of the sun. As she came to the bar she let herself in and sighed with relief as a wave of cool came upon her once entering. Glancing about, she crossed to the bar. She set the box on the ground lightly infront of her and said, "Excuse me. I am supposed to be delievering a spare stool here. Where do you need it?" Gradus glanced at her and then gestured to his left, towards an empty place at the counter, "It'll go there." Nodding her thanks she moved off to the side as she pulled out a ultility knife and started to open the box to get the stool out.

Ignoring the girl bringing in the new stool, Anaheim finished off his glass, and handed it to Gradus, expecting a refill. 'Hey, for your own good, you gotta know your limits." He told him, taking the glass away. "Listen, if you really need work, there IS something you can do for me." Anaheim just looked up, the alcohol now working it's way into his system. "Sure.. just tell me what needs to be done." He said, a little bit of dizzyness within his agreement.

"I need you to go and deliver a shipment of wine for this big gathering in the upper area of Lasiurus. Apparently, it's some big breakthrough at the transportation faculy or something." He told Anaheim. "Sure thing.. Gradus." He siad, almost on the verge of fainting. "After you're sober!" Gradus told him, catching Anaheim before he fell to the ground. "Jesus, you need to get some self-control in you, anaheim." He said before dragging him into his room and placing him on the matress which served as Anaheim's bed.

Victoria walked past the memorial of those who were killed in the suicidal bombings during the war, a rest place of her parents as well. She sighed softly as she looked up from where her boots had been dragging in the ground to just a ways in front of her, so she could at least see what was ahead of her or not. She felt as though in a haze, her body slightly numb from ghostly pains of her heart and head, kept since het youth around the time her parents were killed. At that thought, her bit her bottom lip, trying to be strong as the grip on her duffel bag tightened a tad, making her way to the dojo, in which she trained every day.

Meanwhile, in the upper levels of Lasiurus, Belkiora was on his way to the labs. Dawning his regular labratory coat and suit, he adjusted his glasses, and entered into the higher areas of the laboratory. From peaceful things such as the study of plant life, to grotesque images such as in the human mutation department. Waving his keycard to his office security system, the door opened to a white rom filled with books, scientific images, and a single glass desk with a leather chair.

Placing himself upon the leather chair, he took out some files, and reviewed over them. Reviews over experiments, seperate time logs, and the like. Until he noticed what day was coming up. "The 10th anniversary of the Tram-line is soon. One of our city's most prestigous achievements will celebrate with a grand party, filled with only the highest golds and platinum scripters within the city." He told himself.

He took a look upon the guest list that was sent to him, as well as with the invitation. "Hmm, the Lockleares? The ones who were killed in the suicidal bomber attack? I guess the city's feeling sorry for their daughter." He said to himself, noting the name Victoria upon the guest list.

Moving throughout the city, the wine crate paid a heavy toll on Anaheim's back. "Dammit, they couldn't have given me a trolley to work with, could they?" He complained to himself, taking off his hat to wipe the sweat off his brow. "And to an event that I'm not even invited to.." He told himself in self pity. "What a waste to all that good food." He said, remembering exactly what Gradus told him

'"You're gonna deliver this wine crate for the 10th anniversary of the Tram-line. Now, this means every platinum and high-ranked gold scripter's gonna be here. Having said that, you're not going in. Delivery boys aren't allowed." Looking to the delivery girl, he smirked. "And I think I'll use your help with this whole Tram-line business myself. They'll need tray girls to serve entrees. If you wanna make some extra money, let me know."'

Sitting down on a step not far from the loading area for the ceremony, Anaheim just sighed, and decided to steal one of the bottles of wine. "Not like the snobs will go apeshit if I do." He said to himself, taking a swig of the stuff. "I wonder if he'll be there..." He said to himself, remembering the child Belkiora.

REPORT-OF-2000

PostPosted: Fri Feb 20, 2009 10:20 pm

Victoria soon arrived at her dojo and changed into her karategi and sighed softly, tying up her hair before bowing to her sensei as she began to spar with him. After about an hour or so, they bowed to each other once more, both panting heavily from a hard day's work, herself smirking gently. She then changed out of her karategi and let down her hair, changing back into her regular outfit of a teeshirt and skirt, her knee-high boots definitely giving her some unneeded height.

Victoria then crammed everything into her duffel bag before she rushed home to begin preparations for the grand gala that has been dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Tram-line, which she had so happened to be invited to this very night. She quickly jumped in the shower and cleaned herself before she began to rush around her home, grabbing her crimson dress with black lace and black heels before she ran back to her room to finish fixing up her hair and makeup before she could be able to even step out of the house.

But once fully ready, she stood in front of her mirror, she couldn't help but smile back at her reflection. She wore a strapless, crimson dress that flowed out from her lipid waist all the way to the floor. There was some lace finishing around her bosom and along the backside of her dress, which one exemplified its Victorian design. She quickly lined her lips with ruby-red lipstick, the same color as the bangs on her usually caramel-blond hair, which was half-back and curled delicately, before she grabbed a clutch and a small black shall, walking out of her house to her driver, not able to be anything other than excited of this whole event.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 21, 2009 9:05 pm

After the sun had sank beyond the horizon, Lasiurus was anything but darkened. If anything, this was when it was at it's brightest. The night life had illuminated the lower parts of the city, and the 10th anniversary of the Tram-Line flared the upper part. The Hotel, L'inffernale, was booked for the gala of the 10'th anniversary. The red carpet was surrounded by security and papparatzi, ready to take a look at the celebrities and scripters who were invited to the grand event.

Belkiora arrived upon the red carpet, donning a white tuxedo and gloves, with a walking stick to aid in the outfit. Waving to everyone outside the red carpet, he checked his name off the reservation list, and stepped inside. A violin quartet was serenading the night as various people were gathered within a ballroom filled with waiters with trays of exotic foods under a grand chandolier which lit the entire room. "Well, time to greet the locals." He said to himself, walking inside and greeting some of the other guests.

After talking with Gradus, several hours ago, Akamaki now found herself in a nice shirt with a tie and nice black pants and shoes. She had a balanced on her right hand as she wove through the group of platinum and gold scripters. She had gloves that covered her hands so no one could see her mechanized right arm. She kept her face smooth as she wove through the crowd, annoyed that she needed money bad enough to sever the people at the top of the 'food chain'.

After finally bringing the crate to the back, Anaheim placed it down at the beack enterance of the hotel, awaiting payment from whomever was accepting the delivery. Taking a small look inside, Anaheim saw everyone who was there, complete with snobby dresses and the like. "Makes me wish I had some of that good food in there." He said to himself, taking a huge whiff inside the kitchen.

"Something good's cookin in there!" He said to himself as he pulled his head out of the kitchen. He then spotted a tray of orderves, ready to be served. Making a nuaght face, he snatched a few of the bits from the tray for himself. "A little bonus for my hard work." He said, stuffing them in his mout before noticing something peculiar in the back crates. They almost looked like. "Guns?" He asked himself.
