3 reasons why i choose Athena

she is the goddess of wisdom, which is one of the most important things to have, she is a great and dignified warrior, and yet she still remains beautiful and pure (as pure as greek gods can be i suppose lol)

2 things i like about her are her chivalry and wisdom

My favorite Goddess is Artemis.

3 reasons I like her. She's strong, Independent, and she doesn't let order her around. TH eonly exceptions I can see being Apollo and Zeus. I think they're the only male gods who could tell her something and get away with their lives and dignity intact.

I like that she is a great archer and that even though she can be cold she takes care of little girls.

I would love to be able to shoot a bow like her or even move with her grace. That would be rerally cool.

My favourite godess is the Greek godess Hestia.

I admire Hestia most because of her sagacity and pride and dignity (leaving Olympus has to be the smartest thing anyone in Greek Mythology has ever done), and morality in pursuing eternal maidenhood, and I like how that portrays fire as pure and even holy instead of evil and destructive as usual.

I mean, the classic four elements-- forget about it! The Greeks SOOO ignored fire. And what was with that 'Big Three' deal with the bigshot famous guys getting the Sky, Sea, and Underworld (representing Earth) and where does Fire fit in here? With that elder sister everyone forgets about.

So yeah... that covers the reasons for my choice and the qualities. One thing she can do that I wish I could do... erm, I'm not sure exactly what she does but she tends the sacred fire of Olympus, so she probably can't get burned which would be a really convinient power for me to have because I love to play with fire and my fingernails always get singed.

I really like Artemis and Persephone but I think I'll say my favorite male this time.

My favorite god is Hermes!
Because 1. he seems like a fun guy. 2. He's got a lot of duties being the god of thieves, pranksters, messengers, roads, and people who live by their wits. 3. He's the merriest of the gods.

Two qualities: His humor and his winged hat and sandals

I'd like to be as cunning as he is and even though his duties as a messenger are probably damn hard I'd like to see how he makes his job entertaining.

Also what's wrong with liking Aphrodite? She seems like a fun girl to me. I like her because she's complex, sure she cheats on her spouse but so did Zeus. Plus she is the goddess of love so it isn't exactly in her nature to be tied down. And Zeus, Ares, Athena, and Poseidon caused wars intentionally. Aphrodite only did it unintentionally whe she overlooked the fact that Helen of Troy was married.

That is true, and kudos to you for standing up for the world's most hated Greek godess. As for the cheating, in ancient Greece, there really is no such thing as a faithful spouse. Plus about the war the gods ALWAYS completely disregard huge disasters they cause among humankind to their own petty affairs. It's not just Aphrodite.

The real reason everyone hates her is because they blame her for their suckish or previously suckish love lives.

That's true Aphrodite might not be my favorite goddess but I don't hate her. After all it's true humans just blame her when their relationships went wrong. It's true the other gods really could care less about causing a war if they're bored they'll do it.

Yeah, I'm a little shocked that Aphrodite would be hated (I thought that most hated Goddess was Hera since pretty much all her stories are of her killing pregnant ladies and little kids). I'm more into Artemis too but Aphrodite is an interesting goddess as well. I like to think of her and Heph as Zeus and Hera, even though she had affairs I like to think that she cared for Hephaestos a great deal. And the whole Ares thing is sort of a bad boy romance, but since Aphrodite doesn't really believe in being tied down she'd enjoy multiple relationships. I think her rep isn't so great just because of Eros and Psyche's story, which I would argue isn't a very accurate interpritation because I'm pretty sure it was written long past the time other myths were. Besides if that's the worst Aphrodite has done it isn't NEARLY as cruel as Hera. That's true Aphrodite might not be my favorite goddess but I don't hate her

Man, it's soo hard to choose between Pan, Hecate, and Hermes....I'll do all three! biggrin

PAN

Why?

1) He's part animal! Which means he can talk to animals! Who wouldn't want to talk to animals?
2) Pan is the God of the Wild, making him, in a way, Lord of Environmentalism.
3) His syrinx/reedpipes/panpipes totally rock.
What's he like?

1) He's rustic, which I can overall relate to.
2) He's optimistic.
What do I want to do with this?

1) I want to be able to make and/or play a syrinx.
2) I want to talk to animals. (Though I'd probably annoy them to extinction...)

HECATE

Why?

1) She has three heads. What's more to say?
2) She lives in the Underworld, which means she interacts with Hades and ghosts and stuff.
3) She's the goddess of witchcraft and black magic/sorcery and the dark side of the moon.
What's she like?

1) She's very unique. Instead of being given bulls as sacrifices, she's given goats which is considered weird. And I'm weird.
2) I'm guessing she's shy because she's not in that many myths.
What do I want to do with this?

1) I want three heads.
2) I want to learn black magic enough to kick Harry Potter's butt.

HERMES

Why?

1) He stole for the first time almost right after he was born.
2) It's like he and Athena (and some of his other siblings) are BFFs.
3) He's the only mailman that doesn't get trampled by dogs daily.
What's he like?

1) He's cunning and eloquent.
2) He's suave.
What do I want to do with this?

1) I want to have winged sandals. (Doesn't everyone?)
2) I want his speed, even without winged sandals.

you know they don't have to be greek right? i persobnally like Athena, as i said, ubt i'm also a big fan of Odin (Woden) he gave up an eye and a hand for Asgard, and let himself be stabbed by a spear as he was pinned to a tree. he cared greatly for all things mortal
