It had been several days now since Gil had brought the infant Baron to live with his roommate and himself, and it had been a less than stellar time for the young man. Humbert had recently proven to be utterly determined to crawl anywhere and everywhere he could reach if left unattended for even a second, and the albino was increasingly worried that he might find his ward either in Azrael's room, or on top of the liquor cabinet, or even worse--and he hated to think it--crawling out the window like Peach had done before. Worn out and utterly paranoid for the sake of little Humbert, Gil's brain finally tripped over a brilliant idea: why not take him out to play somewhere? Being cramped up in the little Aekea apartment couldn't be healthy for either of them, and personally the youth really needed to get out of the house for a bit (especially with the increased risk of being murdered by his roommate). Deciding on their destination, Gil packed up a few things for the two of them and headed out to the fountain in Barton Town with the small cat person.
Having been settled down on a nearby bench, it didn't take Humbert nearly two seconds to find his new surroundings absolutely fascinating. This place was so much different from the glum and dull city of Aekea; there were flowers and trees everywhere, the sky above his head was blue and filled with fluffy white clouds, and all sorts of colorful bugs were flitting every which way! Gurgling in delight, the young Baron reached out to try and grab a hold of a dragonfly zipping around, but it was much to quick for his fumbling hands and zoomed away. Determined to capture this specimen and examine it, he tried lowering himself down from the bench, but was quickly stopped by his guardian.
"Whoops. Don't want you to fall," Gil murmured as he pulled Humbert away from the edge of the bench. He could probably let him down on the ground to play, but then there was the possibility of him crawling off... he'd have to think about it.

Ivy was in a particularly bad mood, and when she got into bad moods, she got loud. Lucas had smuggled her out of the apartment once more to get her to calm down, running for the nearest form of sanctuary possible. He was both utterly relieved and particularly puzzled at the joyful response he'd gotten out of her when they'd entered the park.
"So," he said to the infant mock-casually. "How 'bout that local sports team."
Ivy mumbled and burbled snappishly as Lucas disturbed her Happy Plant Time, pointedly turning her back to him - poor kid, getting snubbed by a baby - and resuming poking at the absolutely beautiful dandelion she'd found.

Perhaps unfortunately for the introverted Ivy, she was quickly spotted by the Baron only a few yards away. His eyes widened expectantly before his mouth split into a wide smile, errupting into a flurry of excited babble to get his caretaker's attention. After being the only person of his size for quite some time, Humbert found it refreshing to see someone similar to him, and was eager to interact with her. He was curious about this newcomer, and wanted very much to ask her a multitude of questions... if he could, that is.
Gil had already noticed Lucas before Humbert began his exclamations, but if he had been hoping to avoid being spotted himself, his cover was blown. On second though, though, perhaps being able to interact with someone besides the cranky drunk that was his roommate would be good for the youth. "Yeah, I know, I see them too!" he cooed to the excited infant next to him, pulling him back before he could try crawling off the bench again. Once the little cat child was no longer in danger of falling, Gil waved amicably to the teen and his baby in greeting with a cheerful "Hi!"
"Bllphhthbtph!" Baron added, just in case he hadn't already made his presence known to the pair.

Ivy spared the Cat Creature the barest of glances before returning to her dandelion. Nope. Not interested.
Lucas was, as usual, more polite.
"Hey," he said, somewhat awkwardly. "Uh...yeah. Hi."

Noting the somewhat awkward reaction that Lucas gave him, Gil suddenly felt embarrassed for speaking out loud, but couldn't stop his mouth from moving. "Um, nice day out, isn't it?" he offered, wondering if he was making a fool of himself; then, he thought to himself, it shouldn't really matter if he was. With a welcoming smile, he nodded to the space on the bench next to him. "Wanna sit down?"
Hm, it seemed the young lady hadn't heard the Baron, from the reaction she had. Perhaps Humbert hadn't announced himself loudly enough? Maybe she was hard of hearing? Either way, the cat boy was determined to make his aquaintance, and babbled loudly as he did so, causing the albino to wince from the sheer volume of it. "Ahbabaa! Abhphhbllphhh!"

Looking relieved that his own social ineptitude hadn't readily kicked in, Lucas sat with a small smile.
"Yeah, it's pretty nice out," he said. "Glad I could get the larva out for fresh air, y'know? I see you had th' same idea."
Said larva was giving Baron a look that held a world of infantile contempt.
"Fssssh," Ivy said, tiny tongue poking out rudely. He was interrupting. She turned back to her dandelion once more, giving the bright yellow head a friendly pat. Nice dandelion.

Well, now that Ivy was much closer, Humbert was beginning to suspect that Ivy was ignoring him, and he was none too pleased about it. His small mouth curved into a rare frown and his brow crinkled as he looked up at his guardian, burbling in confusion and dissatisfaction at the red head's behavior.
"Yeah, it is nice out. Better than being cooped up inside on a day like this," Gil agreed, before he became distracted by the Baron's sudden change in attitude. "Oh, hey, what's the matter? C'mon, it's okay," he coaxed, bouncing the baby boy in hopes that it would prevent a possible crying fit. "Yours is pretty quiet, isn't she? Lucky. Cute for a larva, too," he joked, although he hadn't managed to quit Humbert down any.

Lucas nodded in agreement and was about to reply when he instead cringed and shut his mouth. Ivy had a special gift for making even the most cheerful child a sack of misery in less than five minutes. Clearly she was working her magic yet again.
"Whatever she did, sorry," he said wearily, pinging an animal cracker at Ivy's head from her diaper bag. It missed and she turned to give him a completely unimpressed look. "She's pretty...well...ornery."

Staring down at the silent little red-head, Gil pursed his lips slightly as he commented, "Are you sure she did anything? She seems pretty quiet to me. Maybe Humbert is just cranky."
Hmm. Looked like the Baron's attempts to grab Ivy's attention weren't working so well, were they? Noting the dandelion she was clutching, an idea came to the boy's little mind: maybe she liked bright colored things? If he gave her something like that, surely she would spare him a bit of her time! Scouring intently for something to offer the picky girl, Humbert quickly spotted his target--a bright red beetle--and clumsily snatched the wiggling insect in his hand, nearly crushing the poor thing to death in the process. He then proceeded to maneuver his way over to where Lucas was sitting with Ivy in his arms and thrust the bug at her face. "Ba!"

"You'd be amazed what she can do with a dirty look," Lucas said wryly. "She's usually quiet as a mouse anyway."
Ivy gave a jolt, staring at the wriggling thing in Baron's hand. Ugh. UGH.
"Buh-VAH," she said crossly, swatting at Baron's hand. Go away, Cat-Creature! Why on earth couldn't he take a hint?

"Oh--Humbert!" Suddenly realizing just what his ward was up to, Gil hastily plucked the Baron up in his arms and wrested the bug from his hands. How careless of him; the baby might've put that bug in his mouth and choked! But besides that, he seemed to have upset Ivy, and the albino looked at Lucas apologetically. "Sorry, I should have been keeping a closer eye on him..."
Blinking confoundedly at his hand where the bug had been, Humbert gurgled unhappily at Gil with a large frown on his face--he'd just ruined his plan, even if Ivy hadn't exactly appreciated his attempts. Just as he looked about ready to cry, however, his eye caught sight of a bright red tulip--the perfect replacement! Reaching out to grab it, however, he quickly found that the flower box was well out of his reach. For a moment he frownedl; then, his eyes crinkled up; and finally, he started to cry. This was just not going well!
"Oh... oh no," Gil moaned as the tears began to flow, throwing another apologetic glance to Lucas as he cradled the upset Humbert. "Looks like he is cranky after all, huh?"

Lucas felt a guilty squirm in his stomach, hunching his shoulders.
"Only if she made 'im that way," he said apologetically.
Ivy glared at Baron out of the corner of her eye, absently petting the dandelion's leaves. Honestly, how rude could you get?
...but then she noticed his reach towards the tulip. So...what? He liked flowers too? Ivy made a face. He probably just wanted to eat it. But then again...
Ivy sighed. Good grief. She gave the dandelion one last pat, then plucked a yellow flower from it. She doubted the plant would miss it, anyway - dandelions had the wonderful habit of growing big and strong within a day. She looked over at Cat-Creature and held up the flower in resignation. Look, an olive branch. Now hush!
