A slender female wandered around, listlessly. There was an intense frown on her face, and her wings twitched agitated. Something was clearly upsetting her, it was evident by the fact she went out of her way to keep her hands from her stomach. She wouldn't touch it, not even by accident. It didn't matter if that wasn't the way things worked in this world, it was still symbolic of it to her. She didn't want this.

While tall, he was slender granted well toned. Long black hair hung to his waist, very rarely was it ever tied up. In comparison to the small gray and black female he towered over her. Adjusting the down turned cross that hung from his neck, the devil Norryk felt his own self frown. He had not seen his beloved woman in some time. His concerns for her had only intensified with passed time. He'd caught a glimpse of her, she'd seemed agitated, and nervous. Shaking off the notion of anything negative he folded his crimson red and ebony wings behind his back. The left one twitched as if it could not be stilled. "Now.. to find her." He murmured to himself ducking into the next room.
Much to his dismay, and relief she was present. However, just as he had feared before his angel was in disarray. His dark red eyes shifted back and forth in his studying her. "M'lady?" He called out to her softly. He did not know what now lie in her stomach. To say he could guess at such means without any hinting, or prior information was not his forte. He may have been a devil, but his abilities were not such that he could read minds.

She didn't hear him at first. Mostly because she didn't want to talk to anyone, not even him. It was perhaps the first time since she had met the devil that she didn't want to speak with him. It scared her, but she was more scared of the secret she carried.
When she realized someone had spoken to her, her very devil, she turned slowly, brushing dark bangs from her face. "M'lord?" she answered, her voice soft as well.

Norryk hesitated in his going straight to her. She seemed withdrawn, just as she had always been. However, the devil was not use to this being both had grown so close. Now.. Something pained her, and the very notion made him defensive of her. He loved her dearly, and wold go to any length for the woman whom had claimed his heart.
"I would ask, are you well..yet clearly this is not the case." He said with a small sigh, brow furrowing. Shaking his head, he at last moved to her stopping only within a few inches of touching her. "Has something happened?" His tone was that of a concerned one. He could not help his worrying for her. Nor did he appreciate his own personal confusion and lack there of understanding.

She shook her head as he neared her, trying not to tremble. She... wanted his touch. But yet, she was afraid. It hit her like a hurricane. She didn't want this. What if... he didn't either? What if he no longer wanted her? Her eyes widened and she turned away. She had to get away from him. She couldn't let him know, she couldn't hear him say that.
"I am fine, Norryk,"she murmured, her twitching wings the only thing that gave her true status away. She was devastated and more than a little anxious.

Aye.. he knew better. Perhaps better then any other soul whom walked the face of this earth. Even in such a short amount of time, eternity had seemed to pass by. Her pain.. if he closed his eyes he had to grit his teeth past the whirlwind building. He could not let her simply walk away, and tell him it was 'fine'.
Fine would mean she would look at him, and not shy away. "Oh? Is that so Ravyn?" He sounded less then convinced. Reaching out, he gently took her fore arm and turned her back towards him. His own wings gave away his frustration. What had he done to upset her? To gain that pained look of fear, and possible rejection?
He'd sought to chase all the pain from his love when he'd vowed himself to her, and sworn his love. Never had he dreamed to cause her harm.

She winced as he took her arm and whirled her around. Her grey eyes could not meet his crimson ones. To have him leave her would crush her. The messenger couldn't help it. She was terribly terribly insecure.
"Yes, Norryk. That is what I said..." she mumbled, her head down.

Fearing he had hurt her, he eased his grip to barely even having his fingers curled around her slender arm. "Then tell me what is on you're mind if you are so fine my love.."
He drew her close, at last closing the distance. Even if the winged messenger fought him, he would not let go. Pleasant mannered or not, his instincts to protect his mate were overriding pleasantaries. What had her so distressed?
He would never consider leaving her. She meant so very much to him, did she not see this?

"Nothing, Norryk. Nothing at all." She wanted to beg him to let her go. This was killing her, couldn't he see? He was too close. Too too close. She'd found out the truth. They had little ones on the way. She couldn't handle that. Some days she could barely handle herself.
"Norryk.. I am fine. Really."

Her voice.. that strained note tore at his insides like a thousand knives. Never had the devil felt such pain. Why? What had her so broken? Did she wish to be free of him? No. He heard his mind revolt at the sheer notion. There had to be something more.
Blood red eyes flashed, and he shook his head cupping her cheek. "No. Do not say nothing. For you shall walk away from me M'love and likely never look back. I can not lose you." the calm demeanor was forsaken. How could he remain placid, and even tempered? He was losing her like sand in the gentle wind.
"I will never leave you, have you forgotten so soon all I have said to you?" he tried to catch her pale gray gaze. Anything so she would acknowledge his presence to the fullest. How could one hold one so close, yet be grasping at air. It was disheartening.

Her eyes started to sting at his words. Yes. He had promised never to leave her. He wanted to marry her. But that was before.. This. This was different. He would leave her for sure.
"No.. No! I have not forgotten, Norryk, please don't ever say that!" she cried, trying to wrench away from him now. "But that was before!" Her eyes widened. She hadn't said that allowed! No!

He fell silent as he listened to her intently. He had done all this and more, truly she was the light in his life. Yet.. why would she think there would be something that could change his resolve? What...
Her words at last caught up to him. He had excellent hearing, yet some how time had seemed to slow down. Brow knitting, and smoothing out a time or two he at last tilted his head as if thinking. When at first he spoke, it was not in the tongue of man. However, his expression was not an angry one. He was thinking.
"Before?" he finally said, remembering his English. His heart skipped another beat, as though it were a caged animal. Norryk was not a fool. He could understand what went unspoken. His features softened, and he again cupped her cheek perhaps just a touch more firmly. "Ravyn...Ravyn." He said softly, trying to sooth her.
"Why doth the lady think that this Devil would leave her? When it is just the opposite.. he is shocked. Happy...pleased. And more. I do not know the right words my love." he said gently smoothing her dark bangs from her eyes. "Never.. I would never abandon you." He tucked her under his chin even if she fought him.

She understood the devil language. After all, as Hell's Messenger, she had to. Closing her eyes, she relaxed a little at the soft tones. This was her lord, her love, her soul. He had picked her up off the ground and pieced back her shattered heart with gentle hands, lovingly, with extra special care. The devil loved her. He wouldn't leave her.
She'd finally calmed herself and leaned against his chest, sighing softly. His arms and his voice were so soothing... Until... She froze as she registered his words. He was... happy? Pleased? She was -terrified-. There must be something wrong with her. Why was she not happy? Why was she so afraid?
Suddenly she used all of her strength to wrench away from him. "No! Norryk, I did not ask for this! I do not want this! I cannot be a mother!"

Her relaxing reminded him she understood him regardless of how he spoke. He had learned the modern day language to make things easier. It was one more thing his lady, and life could do. It should have been something minor, yet he appreciated it.
If anyone would have passed by, they may have wondered what it was he said to the small female. However, her words stung him raw to the bone. Not something he was not accustomed to. "Is that what you truly think?" He retorted back, his voice an octave below his normal speaking voice. It came from the shock of her words.
He actually had to force himself to not laugh, for the sound would have been a harsh one. "Ravyn if any woman could be a mother it would be you." His blood red flared. Tensing like a lethal animal he rolled his shoulders. His sharp gaze did not leave her.
"You M'lady, are an amazing woman. One I am proud to call my mate." he half hissed, grinding his teeth together. "There is no other I would wish to spend all time with.. or be more than honored." His look softened however when he gazed unto her. "Please.. do not fear." He actually sounded like himself, save the how he chose to communicate. It was much easier for him, in all reality the devil struggled some days to make sense of common paced conversations.
"You.. unlike any other are they most beautiful. I am sorry to sound so childish in speaking my mind. Yet you know myself.. Aye perhaps all to well. I can do no less." He murmured at last, hands dropping to his side. "I fear becoming a father in truth." he at last admitted. Even if he was a Devil, or how greatly they loved children. "I do not think myself worthy. However.." he reached out for her hand. "Do not look away..do not run from me. Let us figure this out together, as we have done since the beginning of our meeting." He smiled softly. If she refused him, he was not sure how he might survive.
Strange how the world worked. One could be the bearer of all the power in the known realm. Yet in a moments notice, like a fragile mirror it could crinkle and crack. All the while, you struggle to pick up the pieces and fit them together. Ultimately.. you hold onto those most dear to make a semblance of the world over.

At first, his words had no effect on her. The messenger had worked herself up into a flurry, and it was going to take a lot of effort to calm her down. She was frantic. She had always thought ill of herself, how could someone so terrible possibly be a good mother?
"No no no.." she said, her voice practically a whimper. She wasn't amazing. She was not beautiful. She was plain. Plain and bitter, and distrusting, and full of hate. In this modern time, all she cared about in the slightest was Norryk. This time was too noisy, too complicated, and she hated it, she hated these things on her ears. She often took them off when she couldn't bear it anymore. She was difficult, and hard to get along with, even with Norryk sometimes. To have children depend on her... She wouldn't be able to do it. She just knew it.
When his hands dropped to his side, she was about to flee. Her every instinct told her to, told her to get out of there and never look back. She had even started to inch backwards. She stopped however, when he held his hand out and admitted he was scared as well. Her grey eyes looked up at his face for the first time, wide-eyed and beautiful. If her devil, the strongest and steadiest man she knew could be scared, then maybe it was okay that she was too.
Tentatively, she reached out her hand and slipped it in his. "...Okay, Norryk. Together."
