Participants: | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Midnight yawned and stretched as he stolled casually through Omnignus's Medius Park. He was dripping wet from the moat he had swam through. Sure, there were other, drier methods of getting into the meadow that bordered the edge of the park, but he had always preferred swimming. The aquatic creatures that swam in the depths of the moat were always enjoyable to watch, after all, with their diverse colors, shapes, and whatnot.
His throughts were driven away from organisms he had seen underwater when his eyes landed on a large tree. Fruits littered the ground, most of them bruised or broken, which had fallen from the branches above. They gave off an extemely thick, sweet smell, but he ignored it and went to lay down at the base of the trunk, folding his hands behind his head in a makeshift pillow. He closed his eyes, content to lay there and dry off in the heat, paying no mind to the other Daruma visiting the park.

The park again. How interesting this was turning out to be! She was spending more and more time here... Sometimes that inspiration can come from close to home. She wouldn't have to travel all that far. She had been tugged a bag with her, looking for something to paint. And the picture was going to be getting sold at a gallery. She looked around a bit. She could smell apples, it was sweet but it seemed like they were rotting.
Padding her self toward the smell, she saw the ring, and the fresh still on hte tree apples, and then a tigris was at the base and napping. She tilted her head a bit and then pawed around some before she worked on setting up her things. She wanted to paint it... Setting down, she worked with a pencil and she started to sketch out the scene... "What a lovely scene..." She mumbled in a soft voice not wanting to wake the sleeping Durama.

Midnight's ears twitched and he opened an eye, looking around for the source of discomfort he felt. It felt as if someone were watching him.... He frowned, unfolding his hands and pressing them against the grass to push himself upright. Ah, yes, there it was. He leaned against the trunk, pretending to watch the calm scene of Daruma resting with their pods in front of him while glancing at the form hidden behind the easel. Could it be that the Daruma was drawing him?
While the thought itself was discomforting, he thought he was the perfect candidate. Who wouldn't want to have a picture of him, anyways? He smirked, lowering himself again and giving himself the perfect visage of a relaxed Daruma, enjoying his time in the park... surrounded by rotting fruit, of course.

Etnie's ears twitched but she didn't bother to see what they had. She had no idea that he had moved until she looked back for another glance. It wasn't a huge move but enough that she did notice, and she would have to redo his actually sketch and position. Once she had his more defined form done, it wouldn't matter if he moved. She was happy to have something to draw. And this scene just gave her that feeling it would be perfect. Specifically for this gallery.
She worked hard on the details, she purred a bit when she placed the lead down. The shading was completed... It had been a good 45 minutes since she started and she looked over at him again. he had a pretty looking color on him... She admired that. She kind of wished her coloring was a bit different, but you have to make do with what you've got!

Midnight was throughly bored by the time an extemely long span of two minuted had passed. His eyes squinted slightly in a half-glare but he kept himself still, telling himself it'd be worth it. No picture of him could be less than excellent, after all, no matter how crude the artist or his/her tools. He thought he was made up of the perfect genetics, with the right looks, colors, shape, and all that, and he'd be damned if he let some picture mess it up.
He tried to peer around the easel to glimpse his mysterious artist, to pass the time, but it wasn't long until he dozed off again, letting the warm heat and the cool shade to lead him into the darkness they called sleep. His dreams were nothing new and his hands clenched at random intervals as the familiar images ran through his mind.
His rest wasn't long. He woke up a few minutes before she finished her shading, almost completely dry. He shivered slighly when a wind blew and, turning to face the Daruma, he raised a brow inquisitively, wondering if it was done. He felt stiff, sitting against the the uneven tree for so long, and he preferred walking around to staying still. However, he wasn't going to move anytime soon if circumstances called for it. This would be the first painting with him in it that he knew of and he wasn't going to let it get ruined.

Etnie's focus wasn't completely, him and he would probably be upset with that, not that she knew; the scene of him sleeping where he was sleeping was what took her attention. She worked on the smaller details, like the apples and bark on the tree and even the grass... Once she finished with the lines, she moved down and into her back to get the colors out. It was pretty good timing because the sky was clear and the lighting was perfect.
"Oh, this is just be so perfect." She smiled as she settled back in, and she started to work her way down using the paint on the canvas. Etnie was pretty well known for her art, not extremely famous, but she always had steady work. She did interior decorating, and she traveled around the work getting art pieces and painting. She loved her life!
"Hm... I can't seem to get the right color..." She tilted her head and with her paints she padded over toward him, and then sitting next to him she worked on mixing some colors to try and watch him. "Hm... thats not right!" She shook her head.

Midnight smiled, pleased with himself, when the artist -- a female, it sounded like -- cried out. It seemed his torturous wait would be worth it. He tried to subtly shift his position, so he wouldn't feel as cramped, and he wondered why trees wouldn't grow slanted. They would still be able to grow fruit, provide shelter for the creatures of the air, and all the other important things they did, and work as a comfortable backrest, too! But, trees, or at least this one, weren't slanted, and his brows furrowed slightly as he grumbled to himself.
He was glad when the artist, a female Canis, came up to him, for she proved to be a nice distraction to his discomfort. "Which color are you trying to get?" he asked, watching her mix the paints. He himself wasn't an artist, and would probably never be one, so while his question may have sounded like an offering of help, he doubted he could really do anything useful. It's probably best to leave it to those who know what they're doing, he thought, his eyes wandering to the tools she had brought with her, including a brush and palette.

As she worked on mixing, she had slipped into her own world, and when she heard his voice it caused her to jump and she got paint all over her. Her heart was pounding and she worked on gathering her things together again. "O-o-h.. 'm s-sorry" She stuttered out. He had really surprised her! Shaking her head out she looked over at him and pawed at the ground some.
"I-it's the grey. I can't seem to get a perfect match for it." She smiled a little at him. So it was a male, he was awfully pretty. She titled her head at him and laughed slightly. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to bother you. I was looking for something to paint and you with the scene it was just so relaxing... You know?"

The only sign that showed Midnight was startled by the female's sudden jump was a slight widening of his eyes. This was hidden when he closed his eyes, turning away from the sudden glob of paint he saw coming after him. It landed with a wet glop on his exposed shoulder and he stared at it for a while, as if he couldn't really believe it had landed on him. He raised a hand but then faltered, unsure if trying to wipe it off would do any good.
He paused when the female spoke, her stuttering voice reminding him of her prescence. "Don't worry about it." he said, shrugging. He could deal with it later. Leaning forward, he picked up her fallen palette, inspecting it for damage. "Perhaps a bit of... white?" he guessed, not even sure what color she was trying to get anymore when he saw the many different shades of color already on the palette.
"That's fine." he said at her repeated apology, giving a small smile in return. The Daruma were always polite, so he was used to it. "Yes." he smirked, "the park is always calming." He offered the palette back to her, deciding there was no permanent damage that he could see. Of course, he was no expert, seeing as he was the one that usually ended up breaking an object, not fixing it, so his opinion didn't really help any. "The name's Midnight, by the way. Night for short, if you'd like." He picked up a nearby apple which didn't seem to be damaged and threw it up into the air, catching it again. "What's yours?"

She never noticed the pain that landed on him. She tilted her head a little. "I guess..." She looked around at the park. She didn't always find it that way when it would get really crowded but that was just her. She smiled taking her things back, and she looked down at her smudged pants and shook her head. "Well thats no good..." She started to fiddle with them when he introduced himself. She looked up at him and repeated his name. "Midnight." She took note.
"I'm Etnie." The toadstool colored Canis pawed away from him a few steps and she worked on mixing a new color. She couldn't let the paints dry up on her. "You don't mind that I have you added into my painting do you?" Etnie would need to have his consent to enter it into the gallery after all. Maybe he would even go to see the gallery. A small blush slipped over her cheeks at such a thought. Etnie didn't have to many friends; let alone any that would go to the gallery.

"Etnie." Midnight said, just to confirm. "Nice to meet you." He assumed that because she didn't have the right color yet, she was still working on the painting. Great. He glanced at Etnie's now retreating form, deciding that she would tell him if he needed to go back to his former posture, and tried to shift to at bit, to give some comfort to his stiffening limbs. It didn't help much when an apple suddenly fell, hitting him right on the head. Luckily, Etnie seemed to be busy and he didn't think she saw.
Throwing away the apple he had in his hand, he replied, "Of course not. I'm flattered that you've decided to add me, actually, since there seems to be much better alternatives." He tried to put as much surprise and gratitude as he could into his voice, motioning towards the other Daruma wandering around the park. He didn't really mean his words, seeing as he'd never even seen any of her work, but he had heard that artists, especially females, were always looking for compliments and he figured that if Etnie felt better about herself, then her art would reflect it.

Back at the aisle, she had slipped back into the zone, and everything around her seemed to fade away. She worked on his detailed, as everything else was finished. With a twitch of her ear she blinked. "Well that might be true, but I feel that... its suiting to have you in, because you are the original. Someone else might not have looked as natural." She nodded as she stoked in the missing color and then took a step back. "There we go... All done. You can some and see..." She looked around the canvas to look at him.

"The original?" Midnight asked, confused. In his mind, the original would be the first one to lay down under the tree, and he was sure that he wasn't the one, since there were certainly others who had come to the very place. "Thanks." he said anyways, deciding to take her words as a compliment.
His flicked his tail when Etnie said she was done, surprised. However, that didn't stop him from standing up immedietly, and he tried to loosen his muscles as he went to her. "May I?" he asked upon reaching her, pointing to the cloth hanging out of her bag. By the multiple stains on it, he assumed it was used to wipe off paint and without waiting for her reply, he took it, using it to get rid of the paint that was still on his shoulder. It had dried a bit, and he rubbed at it furiously until he was sure the whole thing was off. Only after he had put the cloth back in the bag did he take the time to look at the painting he had waited for.
He was surprised with what he saw. It wasn't as pristine as a photograph, but for some reason, it looked better. The colors weren't the exact, but it was close, and there were many shades which made it look almost like the real thing. He studied the painting, noting how the reds of the apples contrasted sharply with the green of the grass and how he seemed to almost blend into the tree's shadow with his dark colors. He raised his hand as if to touch it, but thought better of it. "It's beautiful." he finally said, turning to smile at her.

Etnie blinked at him as he took the rag. It didn't bother her any. It was then that she noticed she had gotten paint on him and she felt bad. But at least he got it off. She smiled and nodded at him a little.
"You like it?" She smiled, liking that he liked it. She was feeling pretty proud of it. Her ears twitched some and she looked over at him. "I'm going to be entering it into a gallery." She nodded some. "They asked me to enter a new piece."

Midnight nodded. "Of course I do. It's got me in it, doesn't it?" he laughed, his tail waving delightedly in the air as he looked at the painting again. He decided he would have to take it later, to keep it for himself. He frowned soon after he had the thought, though, realizing he had no place to keep it safe. He enjoyed travelling often and thus had no permanent residence to call his own. He glanced at Etnie and thought that if she was a painter, then certainly she would know how to take care of her own works, and he concluded it would probably be best to leave it with her for now.
His ears perked at her next sentence with interest. "A gallery, you say?" he asked. He had never been to one, but he had heard of them. It was a place where many works of art were shown, if he was correct. "Interesting.... And they asked you to enter it?" It would be nice to see a painting of himself among many others, and know that his was the best (for he had no doubt it was). "Would it be all right if I came?" he asked.
