Leviticus can shove it

PostPosted: Fri Oct 21, 2005 2:55 pm

After being caught up in Lacey, Danny and Dans guild bullshit, I've seen enough drama and superiority issues to last me a few years. You'd think after three failed guilds, people would learn.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this like a sub-LI? I thought the guild name was Life Issues HANGOUT.
It's more of a scramble for power. You all just have to be right.

Being prominent won't make most people like you any more than they would if you just were yourselves. =/

O: INTERNET. SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Excellent point, as the purpose of this guild is in fact to provide a place for LI frequenters to come visit, connect, and chat. Sure, the most active members are probably the same ones who've been around for a while, but the door has always been opened to new-comers and the like. We're not an elitist organization, and will strive to never become one.

Uh, yeah, I agree with that. I personally have never denied anyone access to this guild or anything.

Maybe I just don't know what you're talking about.

Edit: Okay, maybe I will say something else. I know pleanty about popularity contests, trust me on this one. I've had this problem in real life way before I even knew what Gaia was. And really, it comes down to this, EVERYTHING where ANYONE votes, is a popularity contest. People are shallow, and generally if there's voting it won't have a ton to do with who can do the job best, it's more about who people like more. I disagree with saying it isn't a popularity contest, but... I don't have any solutions to the problem either. Someone is always going to be upset cause they're not on crew or whatever. I really didn't mind losing the guild's election... I never expected to win in the first place, and the point isn't to have a council full of oldbies from LI Regs or a council of Soleq and Brian's best friends.
Now, the appointing the other three people was kind of unannouced.... and well... how long are they going to be on there? Untill January or later? That part didn't make a ton of sense... I really shouldn't complain though.
Oh, and I really don't like the Guild Council sub-forum, mostly because I can't even read it. Makes me wonder what is being said/could be said in there... At least with having a "Crew Discussion Thread" like in Danneh's guild people could read it.
Uhhhhh....
Yeah, for saying I shouldn't complain, I sure complained alot. Sorry. sweatdrop

Thats why I didn't vote.

Hahah. I'm surprised I'm still considered an oldbie.
You know, people from ED and S&P have PMed me telling me they remember me. Yay for usernames that stick.

To be truly honest I don't really know how to answer your post without sounding like another leader that's trying to evade questions or not tell the truth or be a politician (haha-clever).

This is mostly Soleq's knowledge though and he knows a lot more about what's going on with this than me. He's the writer of it all and he came to me with everything. I like the idea mainly because, as I said in the Guild News, that it was so other people in the guild can directly make decision or be apart of the decision making process, so it's not a dictatorship. I mean, if there really wasn't a Guild Crew it would just be Soleq and I making the decisions privately, in PM or not even on Gaia.

In short, more people will be helping to make decisions rather than just us two.

I have to agree with you that it's a popularity contest but if you vote you might get what you want. As far as me voting, I don't really think I voted on popularity although I'm not going to say I didn't because I might have. I looked at all the applications and based my opinion on who I thought would have been the best suited for each seat.

That does poes a problem though. However, I can assure you (well maybe I can't) that we're trying to make it as fair as possible. Just give us time to set everything up and get things going.

I think it's a good idea to have a crew sub-forum because it can be more organized. We can easily lay out the rules, guidelines, jobs, elections, announcements, times, and things like that. We can easily debate issues too. Again, that might not satisfy what you're looking for but we're trying to make it as fair as possible. We're also going to come out with announcements on everything. Again, there are still being kinks and some things aren't for certain.

Eww, I sound like a politician.

I didn't know what you were talking about and Soleq brought up bring in new-comers so I kind of just went along with that.

Umm... what now? Maybe I just got here at a bad time. And I'm not sure I'm up for any debating or hurt feelings at the moment so I'm just going to back away slowly...
