It was amazing that Delmare was still alive.

For three days she was as close to frozen as possible. Her hair and legs were full of icicles and her tail had attached itself to her anchor from the ice. For three days she couldn't move at al, but her teeth chattered to remind her that she was still alive. Luckily for her, the three days had already gone by, and today was the fourth day in her series of events. And it seemed nature was more forgivable on this day.

She awoke from a cold and deep sleep, and noticed an abundance of sunlight around her. For some reason she wasn't as cold, and that was strange and new. It was as if she had forgotten that feeling entirely. When she went to shake her body out, she noticed her hair was back to being naturally damp, and her tail was moving on it's own again. So, was the warmth of spring finally on its way? She didn't care either way, but she was pleased to see the ocean in front of her rumbling and crashing up against the sand. It appeared as though the ocean's spirit was back. So maybe that meant hers could return as well.

She cursed at ice since it was such a horrible way for water to be restricted and confined. If she would have it her way she would avoid the wintertime entirely, but unfortunately she was restricted to a beach that experienced all four seasons each year. Ah well, soon thunderstorms and rain would come along every day, and she would be back into a usual grove of euphoria and drifting. That sounded like the perfect kind of scenario for her daily life.

So this was a beach, huh?

She'd heard about them of course, and the oceans too, but it was very different to actually SEE this sort of stuff with one's own eyes. And so far, Rebel wasn't too impressed. It was nice enough, she mused, enjoying the soft feel of the sand against her hooves as she idly trotted along. The froth that bubbled forth from the dark depths to splash against her feet was enough to earn a grin from the free-spirited mare, and she soon found herself galloping as though to outrace the relentless tide before it could touch her again. What a blast! Sure, it was still a little chilly from winter, but she'd practically been born frolicking around in the snow.

Her chains rattled against her neck as she came to a graceless stop, spraying sand and salty water alike while twin blasts of mist streamed from flaring nostrils. In grudging defeat, the ocean water seemed to slink back again, and she arched her neck with a triumphant smirk before casting her gaze farther across the beach. "Well, hello there..." Rebel muttered to herself with surprise, spotting the darker colored figure not too far from she was. Was that a mare? Typical; just her luck. ...But what was that tied around one of her ankles?

"Yo." Rebel called out as she trotted closer, wrinkling her nose from the salty smell that practically wafted off the other unicorn. "Yeesh, you smell just like the ocean." Was that ice in her hair? "You, uh, look a little cold, sweets. You all right?" Not that it really mattered to her, one way or another, but come on! The girl looked like a mess, and she had to feel bad for the wretched thing. Besides, what the heck was wrapped around her foot?!

For the first spoken words, Delmare hadn't heard the other mare or noticed her at all. Her eyes were slanted and staring forward, and her heart was beating slowly and steadily, as if following the water's movements completely. Her ears were only listening to the tide as they always did, and her soul was probably melted away somewhere on the sand. When her eyes caught gaze of the white unicorn in front of her, she had to naturally do a double take.

Oh, was one of her sisters visiting? When she stared the creature down she realized no, this was not one of her sisters. When her eyes were satisfied with that conclusion, they drew upon the other mare's, and her head tilted to the side ever so slowly. "Why wouldn't I smell like the ocean?" she then leaned in to the sniff the other mare and cackled in response awkwardly. "You smell like the ocean too."

She could tell that the white mare was still young. Delmare wondered what youth felt like. Or rather, she wondered what real time felt like. She found herself never moving in the winter time, whereas in the summer she would drag herself all over the ocean's front. So, lately she carried no concept of time. How long had she been standing there? She knew that three days ago she was practically frozen, but what about the many days before that? What was she doing again?

"Why wouldn't I be alright?" she finally asked, with a random aggression. Her shoulders then puffed out and her cheeks expanded in size. "What about you? You have chains on your neck. Should I be asking the same thing?" She eyed the mare once more over and looked at the red on her fur. "Unicorns are always alright, you should know that." she then snorted and gazed her eyes elsewhere.

Soon her emotion would change yet again, and her mood would flip over completely. But for now, she was bothered, even if it didn't make sense really. The nerve of this other mare!

There was an awkward silence that followed her generous questions of concern, and Rebel hated awkward. The strange dark mare continued to stare, though she glanced suddenly as though only just realizing she had company. Damn right she had company! Her garnet gaze flickered a little when she was told what she smelled like, as though somewhat horrified. She didn't smell like she had salty weeds in her hair, heck no! "...Well, guess I was running through the water earlier." She agreed, curiously dropping her gaze to her feet as though to investigate them. The smell of the ocean was everywhere, and that made it impossible for her to even hope to smell herself!

She almost had to stop herself from laughing out loud at the sudden aggression that came over the other, grinning cheekily as she gave her head a shake. "You just look a little cold, that's all I meant! And you've got that thing tied around your foot. These things aren't attached at least." The chains were given an amiable shake, though she really was amused by how bizarre this girl was!

"Hey, look, didn't mean to offend ya. It just looks a little weird, you know? You being out here all by yourself, and it's been cooooold lately! Unicorn or not, we aren't freeze-proof, you know!" Man, she almost wished someone was around to see this. This was nuts! But hey, maybe if this mare had been out here too long... well, maybe she had a reason for being a little off.

"I'm Rebel." She introduced herself with a lazy sort of grin, tail flicking slowly. "And you are...?" Or would she get pissed over that, too?

Delmare hadn't taken the time to consider that maybe Rebel meant no harm at all. Mentally she was out of whack and out of practice, and she suddenly became very sad and upset from her previous actions and statements. Rebel was obviously giving great time and effort to show her some kindness, and she had been a snot right back at her! Ugh, she really was an idiot sometimes, or all the time really.

"I am so sorry." she finally said, with lowered frozen ears. Her facial expression had changed completely and her eyes were droopy and quiet. "And you are right, my situation is weird. It is very nice to meet you all and all, Rebel." her mouth puckered a bit and she sniffled at the fact that she couldn't do anything right. Yes, she was so very sad and upset. "I'm Delmare, and it really is nice to meet such a lovely unicorn. You are very well groomed and lovely."

Rebel had a natural glow that radiated confidence and beauty. Delmare had some sisters that strutted around with a similar demeanor, so it was kind of refreshing to see another unicorn act in such a way. At least as a breed they were proud. Well, with the exception of her existence.

"If I froze over I wouldn't really care." she then admitted, while attempting to shake her frozen mane out. "Water will always come back from the ice, so in a sense I probably would too." But bah, the stupid ice! It made her so very upset! And if she didn't melt out of the ice, then that was her fate she supposed.

...Now, she would be the last person to not enjoy someone flattering her with compliments, but what the HELL? It was like the mare had suddenly become an entirely different Soquili! All that huffy anger had been replaced with this sad, wibbling creature before her. Sorta tugged a little on the heart strings, now that she thought about it. With her ears tilted back partially, Rebel gave her head another shake.

"Hey, hey hey, it's no big deal! Doesn't look like you've had the best, uh, morning." Aww, man, she really hoped this chick wasn't going to start crying on her. She wasn't her older brother--she had no idea how to deal with weepy girls! "Nice to meet you too, Delmare. And thank you." She really had to bite down on the urge to preen a little, instead letting her eyes flick over the other mare again. "You've got some gorgeous eyes." Rebel noted outloud, nodding with approval. Potential, there was potential there! You know, despite the seaweed. But there was nothing wrong with a girl who liked to get a little dirty!

"Wouldn't care?" She questioned, more than a little thunderstruck. "Dude! That's a little extreme, don't you think?" Water and ice, what? Now that she thought about it, Delmare did look sort of like the water's reflection of a night sky... "Is that why you've got the whole anchor thing going on? Still though, that's so not safe. I'm sure no one wants to see you frozen. At all." Yeesh, now that would be one sight she definitely did not want to stumble upon ever.

... her eyes were gorgeous? Delmare would have lied if she didn't act surprised. But hey, a compliment was a compliment. And it was exciting to hear that she had something good that made her stand out. "Well thank you." she then answered, with a hint of excitement. Her frown had been turned upside down, and she was suddenly feeling more giddy from Rebel's kind words. Compliments were lovely, weren't they? It had been ages since she'd received one.

"Well, I don't mean to be extreme." she then said, while giggling lightly. "But if I did freeze then nature would be the winner in that game. All I meant was that I've accepted if such a fate if it were to happen." She held back a sigh since she was too comfortable and still somewhat excited at that moment to show anything else. "There are many things I can't control, that's all."

Like, her anchor. She figured there would be a point when she'd have to explain it. It was probably weird looking and made her ten times stranger to any soquili's eye. To her, she had forgotten the damn thing existed. But she was always reminded when other's asked.

"It wasn't my choice to have this anchor, and it's kept me chained to the ocean for as long as I can remember." she then chuckled while finding the whole thing kind of hilarious. "It seems like each of my sisters and I all have secrets and pains that we were born with. Maybe it's fate, maybe it's insanity!" And alas, she laughed once again. "You are allowed to laugh too, Rebel! I am a very strange mare!"

Rebel was lucky, she had beauty and brains, and was obviously not strange at all. She would go far in life and have many great experiences! "What about you, got any silly secrets?"

And there was the mood flip--again.

She didn't know what was up with this mare, but Rebel was finding herself more and more amused by the frequent changes. It was like a whole bunch of Soquili, rolled up into one. Didn't like the one you had now? Just say a few magic words and bam! A whole new girl. Though, on some level deep down, Rebel did almost feel bad for her. A lot of people probably did think she was strange, and likely wouldn't befriend her because of it. Once one got over the random personalities, though, Delmare was surprisingly easy to talk to.

"Nature, huh?" She did seem to have that thing for water. Rebel had to wonder if it were really was just a coincidence or not. "Well, you can control that, for sure! If you went and sought shelter somewhere, you'd be a heck of a lot warmer than if you stayed near the water." That was only common sense! It made her have to blow her bangs out of her face exasperatedly.

"Sisters? They all have anchors too, or they have their own little kinks?" She was curious, hoping she wasn't coming off as too breezy. Yeah, it was strange, but hey! These had been the kind of people she'd been looking for! "Nawww, I won't laugh at ya. Sure, it's a little odd, but if that's your thing, no one should laugh at you for it! They can piss off and find 'normal', boring things to do." She did have to chuckle at that. Secrets, huh...?

"Well." Rebel started dramatically, rolling her eyes with a silly grin. "When I was a filly, my brother pretty much bet that I'd never be able to tame a skinwalker. So I spent, hell, days running around, looking for the biggest, baddest thing with teeth to try to tame just so I could prove that I could. Talk about insane, right?"

Bah well, Delmare had explained enough about the fact that she couldn't move much. On the rainiest of days she could shift her positioning, but it would be ages until then. Maybe Rebel just wasn't connecting two and two together? Her mind felt an annoying buzz that tried to take over and change her mood, but she wasn't enjoying the feeling. The thought of having the will of her mind was... strange. She never suspected that it was easy to control how she thought. Well, perhaps today could be a good day to try?

"Yeah, I have quite a few sisters." her tone was somewhat annoyed at first, but she shook her head and tried to smile more naturally. "They have their own little kinks. Like, one of my sisters likes playing with fire, another has a snake and critters on her back. And Hades... I suppose she likes remaining with the darkness." Ha, they were an odd trio. Delmare grunted lightly but didn't really mean to. She wasn't annoyed about anything anymore. So, why was her mind trying to ruin her overall emotional state? Perhaps conversing took a practice she had never had before. She was already thankful to Rebel for putting up with her for the day, since she had figured that detail out herself.

She felt her mind shut up for a moment when Rebel spoke of others. Ha! They could piss off? Well, that was an awesome way to put it. "Haha, you are tough yet beautiful. Most mares would die for that sort of thing." Well, like her. And most of her sisters probably! She listened intently on Rebel's secret and realized the other mare had opened up to her. Well, this was a first. She held back the urge to laugh uncontrollably, since to her that felt stupid as a triggered emotion. Shut UP, mind! She was not going to let her messed up brain ruin such a moment. Man, thank goodness Rebel couldn't read her eyes. They were somewhat shifty, but she was doing a good job of controlling anything too strange.

"I don't think that's insane. You had a mission, and you wanted to fulfill it." she paused then and leaned closer to the mare. "So... were you ever successful??" She wished she could help if no! "And wow, you have siblings too?"

Her ear flicked a little as though able to hear the annoyance in her tone, but Rebel was more curious by the fact that Delmare seemed to drive that particular mood back. Weird! So could she consciously stop herself from shifting? "Like all the elements, mm?" She mused aloud. Well, yes, she was having a bit of a hard time trying to fully understand--and more importantly, accept such a proclamation, but was it really so odd to think about? Hell, maybe she was just trying to make this too complicated in her head!

A grin spread across her muzzle at yet another compliment, but Rebel only chuckled. "Well, that's another secret, to be honest! Had to be tough when you're one of two girls among a whole bunch of brothers." There was no way she'd have ever let herself be left behind! Rebel didn't notice the other mare's mental struggle, too busy reflecting over her other siblings now. She wondered where they were, and if they were making decent lives for themselves. Had to be. After all, they were the best!

Delmare leaned closer then, and she mentally had to shake herself to pay attention. Didn't need to zone out when she had company! "You could definitely call it that." She grinned, then shook her head. "Not yet! I really didn't understand where to look for a skinwalker when I was younger... Guess I'm not opposed to still trying, if I ever meet one." She'd prefer a little one, but hell, that was only because she knew trying to tackle an adult was probably suicide.

"Yup! Bunch of nuts. Careful of the boys if you ever meet them, by the way. They'll try to charm your socks off until they get what they want, if you know what I mean..." She rolled her eyes, but couldn't help her chuckle. Boys would be boys... and she'd be a hypocrite if she said she didn't do the same to the stallions!

"Yes like the elements!" she was glad Rebel was understanding what she meant, and she bobbed her head lightly while considering all of her sisters by face and name. They were all something all right, and most carried tempers that could burn a forest down or leave a stallion shaking. It was pretty amusing to watch when those sorts of things happened! In the past Delmare would act that crazy as well, but nowadays she was too tired for all of the conflict. She was only trying to find herself as the seasons passed.

She snapped back to the conversation when Rebel admitted to be one of two girls amongst many boys. Oh my, that WOULD be hard! She was honestly spoiled for having all sisters. She couldn't imagine dealing with so many boys. "I'm sure you hold your own just fine! Especially if you've survived through all of this time." she giggled lightly and knew she could have never survived like Rebel had.

Hmm, Delmare was sort of glad Rebel hadn't found a skinwalker yet. She had only heard awful things about skinwalkers. And, as crazy as she was, she couldn't see herself handling one without problem. "I've heard terrible, terrible things about skinwalkers. So I really hope you're careful in the long run." she lowered her ears and was too afraid to even consider the horror such an experience would bring. "At least you have a ton of other scary creatures to choose from in this land. So I doubt you'll ever get bored?"

She wasn't sure what Rebel meant about her brothers, but it was entertaining all and all. "So, in a sense your brothers are kinda dangerous?" she paused then, and titled her head a bit. "So, are you also dangerous in your own way?" Well, everybody was basically dangerous, but maybe Rebel had the same kinds of skills like her brothers? "Your family sounds like they get what they want at least!" Ha, even if Delmare didn't get what that meant exactly!
