Background/History: The older brother of Iquel Flickerbat. Ryan is a first generation Coordinator, with both of his parents and his younger brother being naturals, he was raised with views of tolerance. For his protection and for his best interests, he was sent to a Lunar Academy for his education, and when he graduated from that academy decided that he would leave for the PLANTs, so that his family would come to no harm to them from extremist groups.
When the war broke out between the Earth and the PLANTs, Ryan volunteered to join ZAFT to protect his new home from the intolerance that had forced him away from his family. He quickly showed a great skill in a mobile suit, even among Coordinators. During the battle for the resource satellite Nova, he received a communication from a mobile armor he had downed, and to his shock and horror found that it was his own brother, who had joined the Alliance to protect a friend. The event began to shape his thoughts in a manner that he began to strongly desire a perfect world where Coordinators and Naturals can live in peace, and wants strongly to end the war quickly in order to achieve that peace. But his concern for his brother is also very strong, and seeks a way to protect him as well, but their being on opposite sides of the war has defeated any method of finding and turning his brother away from the Earth Forces. He has earned the title, "Silver Star of Grace" for his skill and success in combat, and is the commander of a small squadron of mobile suits.

Suit Piloted: DINN
Personalization: Ryan's DINN is painted predominantly in black, and painted in dark blue at the joints and on the wings. He also painted a silver seven-pointed star on the forehead and chest of the DINN
Modifications: He has mounted a folding heavy-blade on the right arm of his DINN. When not in use, the blade folds back so that he can effectively use the DINN's guns. He also has two "armor-schneider" knives that have been stolen from an Alliance Supply depot (which were originally intended to reach the Strike Gundam for resupply before it was destroyed) and he conceals them inside the DINN's guns holsters, in the emergency case that both of his weapons get damaged or knocked away.

Now he just fights with little regard to who but maintains a strict Code of Honor the top of which is to not harm females. His ability in Piloting as well as strategy earned him his Title of Checkmate Jack
