How deep does the rabbit hole go, Alice? The ancient gods of golden sands construct their pointy tombs, While all around the blackest plagues corrupt the virgin wombs. There are no holes in city walls which rise above the sand, But all the children of the past are remnants of the end.
The kings of where and nevermere submerge in fallen sleep. While crippled hopes and creeping drops into your soul run deep. In realms of death there sparks a life and in the life sparks death. Those running from predestined fate just to run out of breath.
Those dead beyond the river styx and those who dead once was, Into the land of life and light their entities osmose. A sickly joke by ma'at played to shed a different light On images from aeons past returning back to sight.
As half the moon lights half the night in late majestic hour, All that is left of half the homes is but a phasing flower. Although the tale is hard to grasp and hard to comprehend, A deed so vile 'cross the nile brought this dire end.

Kurin lingered at the edge of the abyss, prolonging the anticipation and the rush of adrenaline one gets when about to do something scary and extremely stupid. She had gotten it in her head that she wanted to see what lived so deep in there. Where it was cold and so dark one could barely see. She took a pebble in her fin and lobbed it over, paying close attention to where it went. After a while she got tired of looking and just followed the damn thing.
Standing around the edge got boring too sometimes and you had to just dive it and see where it took you. As she descended, she noticed the craggy rocks and little eels hiding within peeking out to see her. She smiled and swam further down to where if someone was watching her, she was no longer visible. Adventure called and like the wind, she moved towards it like the breeze itself.*

Julian was swimming along, with no particular destination in mind, when a change in the texture of the sea floor below him caught his attention. He hurried over to what at first appeared to be a large patch of darker sand and pebbles, and as he grew closer, he realized the sea bed didn't darken in that spot...it disappeared. He slowly approached the edge of the drop-off, staying alert for sudden undertows. When he reached the lip of the crevice, he peeked over, trying to gauge it's depth, but all he could see was a dozen or so feet of rocky walls trailing away into darkness.
As he floated along the edge of the abyss, he felt a soft pull towards the dark depths before him. It wasn't a physical, but rather a mental urge. He had always been fascinated with the dark, its mystery and danger. He hovered on the brink, caught between his urge to explore the depths and the ever present voice of his father, Peng, in his mind, telling him how dangerous and foolish it would be.
His eye caught a faint movement just at the edge of where his sight could reach. He grinned as he realized another Beta was down there, exploring the depths. That decided him. At least if he was going to do something foolish, he wouldn't be alone. Without a backwards thought, he dove over the edge, swimming towards where he had seen the other Beta, only seconds before.

*Kurin went deeper and deeper until she could feel the water pressure closing in on her and she could barely see. In the dim light she saw all kinds of creatures she had never seen before and despite her admiration of their otherworldly beauty she kept a healthy distance between her and the unfamiliar. Her eyes drank it in so completely and some of these things even produced their own light. It was absolutely the best place she could have gone over her tankmates objections. It got so that she never even told them anything anymore. If they didn't know her now why would that change?
She kept close to the wall, losing herself in her thoughts yet still watching all the mystery before her. If their was some way to capture all this so she could look at it whenever she wanted. . . . but unfortunately her memory would have to make due. Just then she saw something in her peripheral vision. Something that seemed slightly out of place and a little, familiar. It was right on the edge of her consciousness but she couldn't quite place the face. The other thing was that a weird sense of exasperation and annoyance started to rise within her chest. Kurin thought that she would get her answers soon enough.*

Julian swam deeper into the abyss, trying to divide his attention between the other beta and ever increasing numbers of odd and alluring shapes and creatures that filled the darkness.
Eventually the distraction of the new, fantastic life around him took all of his attention and he slowed until he was hovering gently in the darkness, nearly hypnotized by the ghostly lights and shadowy movements around him. Despite the fact that Kurin was resting near the wall, a little over a yard behind him, he was completely unaware of her presence. He glided a forward a few more feet, feeling the pressure pushing against his sides and enjoying a small thrill of fear as he realized he was probably pushing himself just a bit too far. A slight smile twitched at the corner of his mouth as he swam another foot or two into the darkness.

*She watched his reaction to the dark creatures down here and oddly, it pleased her for some reason. His face seemed less harsh now that it wasn't looking at her. All of a sudden it came back to her who it was, It was that rude Beta she had met earlier who had made the seaweed trap her. He seemed less of an a** while he was down here. Maybe it was due to the low oxygen in the water, she mused. Despite all that the look of wonderment in his face right now demanded her attention as if one were watching someone see something for the first time.
She stayed within sight of him just in case he got in over his head but still remained as out of sight as she could. He might have had powers but that was even more of a reason to stick around, powers could only do so much. She had more practice adventuring with things like this than he had. She continued to watch as he swam around to explore this new world he had stumbled upon. She was so distracted by his facial expressions and the open delight on his face that she at first did not see the huge dark shadow that passed below both of them.
The second time around she did noticed it and she berated herself for not having paid more attention. It was not doing anything as of yet but she knew at the first sign of real danger she would grab Julians fin and swim the both of them as quickly as possible to some small holes she had taken note of earlier. Right now it was only vaguely threatening, not an immediate danger just yet. Kurin looked at the other beta again and thought that he wasn't all that bad looking when he wasn't acting pissy.*

A little deeper into the abyss, Julian saw a faint, flickering light. With his attention focused on the source of the light, he went deeper into the chasm, not noticing the large, most probably dangerous shape circling below him.
