Whirl smiled, looking to the ground. The world was melting, finally. After the long freeze he could finally see the green ground. Well, it was slightly brown. But still, good enough!
Whirl shook his head playfully, strands of colored hair flying about. He took off, galloping at full speed along the sloppy ground. Soon enough, his hoof caught a slick muddy patch, and down Whirl went. sliding for a few moments, he looked down on himself to find his white coat tarnished with brown. He tilted his head, and made a look of distaste.
"Mean mud, why would you go all over me like that? I didn't do anything to you..." he said, getting slightly upset, then viewing his path, and the deep footsteps he had left within the mud. Scars in the once-perfect land.
"Oh" he said, suddenly realizing the the mud was right to make him fall "Well, you should have said something first..." Whirl brought himself up, thinking hard. How was he supposed to get clean now? Daddy alway said staying clean was important. Mommy said do it when he could. Could he? Or couldn't he?
Whirl closed his eyes shut tight. Too much thinking.

 Nayomi trotted carefully across the slick ground, measuring each step so she wouldn't fall. She had quickly learned to mind her pace, the mud still caked on from the day before, evidence of a less than graceful day. While watching her feet, she didn't pay much attention to the rest of her surroundings, only when she saw hoofprints that were not her's did she look up, to see a stallion slipping and falling in the distance.
She sped to a quicker trot, though still careful of where she went, wanting to avoid anymore falls. Soon and without falling over again, she reached the muddy but still colorful stallion. "Hello." She said as she stopped a little ways behind him.

Whirl's bright green eyes rose from the ground, and found them meeting unfamiliar bright blue ones. He tilted his head, looking at her. Whirl had only met two mares in his life. One was his mother, and the other was his sister. His sister was weird, but his mummy was very nice. This one reminded him of...well, neither.
The stallion struggled on the ground for a moment before finally bringing himself up.
"Hello! I'm Candy Bar Whirl! Mommy just calls me Whirl though. Daddy calls me son, because he says I have a girly name. So I guess you could call me Whirl or son if you want." he said quickly, a silly grin spreading across his face, not realizing exactly what he had just said.
He was too caught up in the idea of meeting a new soquili. How exciting...a new friend! The poor stallion hadn't really spent much time away from his parents. It was easier. Mommy took care of him, and told him what was ok and what wasn't. Life was so much easier.
But then Daddy said he had to leave.

Nayomi watched quietly as he spoke of his family. Having grown up alone, she only had a vague idea of what a mother and father were and what they did, often she wondered who her's were.
"I am Nayomi." She said after he finished talking. "Nice to meet you Whirl. I don't think your name is girly." The last part she added after a moment.
