Christian Holiday. Yet neraly all the Jews I know IRL celebrate it. Today at school there was all kinds of candy and stuff among them and got all self-righteous about it when asked to stop.
IT IS A CHRISTIAN HOLIDAY ABOUT A PRIEST.
I've heard we have a similar day of our own on the Eleventh of Av or something like that...
But seriously, it is as Christian as is Christmas in almost all ways.

There's another version of the story that says that Valentine was a Romeo-like Celtic prince who fell in love with the daughter of an opposing tribe/clan. Or you can go with the more traditional one, which is that he was a priest who continued to marry Christian lovers though it was outlawed.

Christmas isn't a very Christian holiday. Given that it was stolen from various pagan sources, and probably some Jewish ones. Oh well. V-Day has no religious importance to people anymore. It's about candy, and teh sex0rz.
>=3 I'm looking forward to it!

What I meant was that they both are overcommercialized Christian Holidays.

It's cool with me if the Christians want to whore out their holidays.

I celebrate any holiday that my friends or family celebrate. I like getting gifts. Plus, some of the x-mas food is actually nummeh. I can't eat much Chanukah food because my body reacts poorly to the oil sad So x-mas is the seasonal food holiday for me.
Plus, my siblings are Christian (or atheist) so we celebrate those holidays. Christmas is, to me, an American secular economic holiday. V-day is the sex holiday.

V-day? I can't see any religious stuff to it. Honestly, I doubt the majority of Americans see anything beyond getting laid.

I wouldn't call it Christian, what I would call it is the greed of corporations that make money off of various treats and goodies. Most Christians probably couldn't tell you where the tradition comes from, this to me makes it secular.
My dad got me a card and chocolates even though I tell him over and over that if he got me a card and chocolate on any other day it would be just as meaningful if not more so. Oh well, my daddy is still the best!
BTW, I'M BACK! I haven't had internet at my house for quite some time, but it should return soon. I've missed everyone! *Group hug*

It started as a Christian Holiday, but there's little remnant of religious aspects left.
