I was thinking about this today(after I picked up the Magic Burner, which sadly, did not arrive with the Character Burner or the other three at my local comic book store. Huh, just realized how nerdy that sounds. Aaanywho.. for those of you not familiar with Burning Wheel it's kind of like a more Role play oriented version of D&D. Also it is VERY suited to something such as steam punk. So I was curious, if I actually got a campaign running (hey I don't think they added that dice rolling system for nothing but random rolling in Gaia!) woudl you guys be interested in playing?
Note that this would be waaaay in the future, like were talking june/july here but still, was wondering if anyone woudl be up for this. So, any thoughts?

I'd love that. I really like the roleplaying aspect of D&D better than hack and slash. That gets old rather fast. There is actually a 3rd edition D&D book called Steam and Sorcery which talks about incorperating Steampunk into your D&D game, or making it steampunk. In one of the campeigns I played we had a flying ship for awhile. It wasn't steam-powered, but it was still cool. Then the red dragon came... crying

If I can learn the rules (or the rules are simple enough for me to not have to buy a book or something) then count me in. I'm always looking for a new RP, and the summer months are good for round-the-clock RPs.

Wait... "more roleplay oriented" version of D&D? gonk If you ask me, D&D is already too roleplay oriented to begin with, and that's before you even get to the mountains of grotesquely specific (yet still somehow misleading and vague) rules and guidelines. Erm, count me out, heh. If I'm gonna play a roleplaying game, I like the emphasis to be on "game." I'll still check this out though, it sounds promising even for an action-lite roleplaying system. Those of you interested in this can check out their official website/wiki: http://www.burningwheel.org/wiki/index.php?title=Downloads#Burning_WheelI don't think it's their FULL rules (since they probably want you to, you know, buy that in paper form), but it looks like it outlines a whole lot of the system. EDIT: I just found what appears to be the basic rules for combat. I really like how they've simplified this and boiled it down to the bare essentials. It's nice and easy on the eyes, and even though I don't know what half of the terms like ND or Power actually represent, it already looks like it makes decent sense. I may just have to give this a more thorough reconsideration... Link: http://www.burningwheel.org/wiki/images/7/77/Fight_matrix_r2.pdf

Yeah Luke crane post a core summary of the rules to the site but it's still a good idea to pick up the books if you ever plan on being the well... for lack of a better term, DM, of the campaign.
On another note, I just barely reached the Arcane Library section of the magic burner book, holy crap did they put a heaping amount of work into this.

More roleplay and less number crunching? I'd try it.

I have never played a true 'role-playing game,' but I would love to try it so long as you could explain and, possibly, clarfiy the rules.

I'm up for it. My friends like to add more role-playing into our D&D campaigns already, so I'm sure it will be easy to get used to.
