Hey all,
Just wondering how many people here are original authors. I was reading through the favourite character thread and I had to laugh at how many people thought Richelle Mead was talented because she could make you relate to Rose. Really, it's not that hard.
I write first, third and second person stories and I'm in the middle of writing a first person book. It's called Protegee. My main character is a complete arrogant b*****d even though he's sixteen (at the moment).
Actually, for the most part I'd like to know what names people give their characters. I give mine weird ones:
Friwenonanerfortaquit
Leranianwesnerajasa
There is a very good reason their names are so long but I'm not telling you whee . Anywho, I'd like to talk to anyone who actually writes, not just reads... Um, yeah.

I write stories! 3nodding Im in a middle of writing a story about two clans: boys clan and girls clan who are fighting amongst themselves (its difficult to sum it up to one sentance and actually make it sound good). Anyway, it was an inspiration from a dream that I got at New Year's Eve (31 Dec- 1 Jan) and I really luv it and already have fans (people who can understand my handwriting for ask to read it ^^ wink I get my names out of my head like...I go "Oh, what should I name this chic?" And automitically, like during the first 3 seconds a name pops up that I use! <333 Yeah. >,<

I'm in the works of writing a vampire series.And I'm trying to keep it as close as possible to real vampires. That being said, not vampires that sparkle.
The story is about two characters: Raven and David. The story is first introduced with David being an average high school student trying to get the girl who he likes. But then David's world falls apart after an unexpected death. Then bad things happen here and there to David and he eventually gets turned.
Soon after Raven gets introduced as powerful mysterious vampire and takes David under her wing.
For my own reasons that's all I'm going to say about the plot.

If you were to look under my friends you see this girl who goes by shappire(bunch of numbers and junk)
She and her bud have been working on their book, Behind those Human eyes.
It comes out sometime this year and i suggest it to all who want to.
They will be one of the new young authors of the new world (lol).
A brief little description is that a, Aiden Slygod, suddenly falls madly in love with the new girl at school(I think her name was clara. Its been a while since I read this). It turns out that she is a total myth freak and her favorite god was the norse god, loki. So Aiden starts to follow her and then she finds out and starts to question him then that leads to him confessing him being Loki, the norse god. then a lot more goes on and I cant wait till it comes out!
I get the origianal copy biggrin
so anyways, keep your eyes open for it on the shelves and its sequals soon!
((sorry about my spelling. Im horrible I know. Its my dyslexia))

I'm not sure I'll read the one your friends are putting out amour31579, I'm not that into modern fantasy but for modern fantasy book it sounds okay. I name my characters according to where my fingerrs land on the key board. All I have to know is the first letter and from their it's purely improvisation.
My plotline is twisted. I won't say anything about it save that it's set in a medieval land and that it includes mages, monsters and Gods. My main character is a complete arrogant b*****d and he's really sarcastic and pretty inconsiderate to other people. His is one of the names I posted above, but his nickname is Quit.

A lot of time I will give my characters names that have a certain meaning. Like if they are sweet, I may pick a name that means something like it. I also pick out names by origin, depending on what their family's background is.
I always have a hard time naming my stories. I have several written, but none of them are named yet. I need to get around to naming them soon. But I can never decide on something to name it. sweatdrop

I am not very good with the bad guys either. It takes a lot of work on my part to make a character bad. I think that is because I am a kind person, and I hate how mean people can be. Usually I have a friend read it and tell me if I need to work on my evil character.

I write alot of stories. Mostly short stories so I can keep my mind from wandering off before I finish them.
The big story I am working on now though it about a girl named Rosaline and her best friend Sarah. Rose is a half-vampire, but she does not know it because her father left her when she was really young. Rose has a vision about vampires fighting to take her away and stuff. Then it happens and Sarah goes out looking for Rose. Sarah gets turned accidentally by the evil vampire Micheal's brother Zane, who is not really evil... Rose agrees to leave so no one else gets hurt. But now that Sarah has been turned, she has lost all of her humanity and wants everything in her old life to burn. Including Rose.
Rose finds out about a huge vampire war that has been going on inside our world, is reunited with her father, and forced to fight her best friend.
Sorry that was so long, I am really bad at explaining things in few words...

But I can never decide on something to name it. sweatdrop I give my characters names that fit with them or that past somewhat.., I used to have a looot of trouble naming my stories, so I now start with a title, then a beggining, and take it from there.
