Kagami couldn't be sure of how many days it had been since her brother had left her. Since she had met that pretty red lioness she couldn't help but find dancing through her thoughts every time she let her mind wander. She couldn't help but wonder why the pretty lady consumed her thoughts. Why she engulfed her mind.
The purple female shook her head as she picked her way through the jungle of the Kunanda finding herself looking to see if her brother had made his way back into the lands. Hopefully without inciting the anger of one of the other pride members. Then it occurred to her that she still had yet to meet the queens of the pride. That she still needed to gain entrance.
Of course that task she believed would be rather, well, difficult. After all she didn't speak. No, she had made a promise and she was going to hold on to the promise no matter what. One day she would speak again. But for now she wasn't sure.
Now if she could only get that pretty red lady out of her thoughts.

They had been together for only a short time and Sanuye was stunned by the degree of fondness she felt for Kagami, especially considering the other female didn't speak. Actually, she supposed that might have had a lot to do with it. It was difficult for her to get upset with Kagami, because she never did anything worth inciting her anger, and so Sanuye found herself enjoying the purple lady's company a great deal more than she had ever liked anybody else's.
The bright red lioness had kept her promise and done her best to look after Kagami so far. She'd done everything she could think of to show her the ways and traditions of her precious pride and was quite certain that she'd make a fine addition to the Kunada'Nakhun pride lands.
"Kagami," she said the other's name loud and clear as she came into view. For a moment, she wasn't sure what else to say and there was a lull in her speech. Sanuye continued after a couple heartbeats. "Are you sure you want to make this pride your home?"

It would be hard to deny that Kagami found herself in welcome company, company she was content to just sit beside and watch the sky or water's surface. And learning of her new companion's pride? Well it was something that she took great pleasure in, even if it was a little more difficult than she imagined.
It had been proved rather troublesome when she wished to ask a question and could not effectively. However the purple lioness assumed that with time Sanuye would come to be able to read her just as her brother could. Regardless she took great pleasure in learning the meaning of toh and the story of the pride once Sanuye had started talking...she found herself unable to do anything but listen.
Which wasn't much of a change really, she didn't talk so of course she spent her time listen. Still it was captivating.
At the sound of her name she lifted her head up cocking her head to the side as her green eyes settled upon her red-colored friend. A smile immediately broke out across her lips and she trotted forward eager to hear what the other had to say.
She pondered the thought of remain in the lands she had begun to become fond of. And if she stayed then that meant she would always be with her new companion whom she adored greatly. After only a second of a pause she nodded her head with much enthusiasm.
Yes, yes! I want to stay!

Kagami's excitement and enthusiasm inspired an equal amount of joy within Sanuye's giant frame. The bright red lioness knew that the other lady's vigorous nod could only mean one thing and, while she would never be able to fully understand why, Kagami's happiness was the world to her. She felt a connection with the older lioness that was unlike anything else she'd ever experienced.
It puzzled Sanuye, but she had never been one to waste much time on questions. She was far too impulsive for that. It was simply easiest for her to accept the closeness she felt for Kagami without thinking. It didn't matter why it was there. It only mattered that it was. Thinking would have been too much of an effort for a girl who only truly understood the ways of her pride, and the heart of a warrior.
"Then you may stay!" An adoring grin lit up her face, "I've just spoken with the Adhi-raj. This can be your home now."

The happiness that Kagami had shown just by being asked to stay was nothing compared to what she expressed once she was given the knowledge that she could stay. A large smile spread across her lips, a broader one than the one she had simply given her red-colored companion.
She danced forward quickly and pressed her nose against Sanuye's cheek in thank you before stepping back tilting her head and letting out a silent laugh. She wasn't just happy, no she was ecstatic and it showed in the bounce in her step, the small wag of her tail and the delight that outlined her facial features.
Yay! I'm thrilled!
Again she moved forward and without thinking nuzzled the other female's neck lightly, however once she realized what she was doing she stepped back. She had grown fond of Sanuye and didn't doubt that the other female felt the same but she wasn't sure how much she could do at the current moment.
She just couldn't help herself, she was sooo happy!
I get to stay with you!

Sanuye wasn't sure what to do with herself. She watched transfixed as wave after wave of joy washed over Kagami's beautiful face and was struck sharply by the beauty of the silent lady. For the first and only time in her life, Sanuye found herself wishing that she was beautiful and gentle instead of rough and awkward- if only for a moment, so that she could return Kagami's smiles and have the other lioness see her own rapture mirrored in Sanuye's bright features. As it was, poor Sanuye was neither gentle nor beautiful, and suddenly very aware of it.
She grinned back at the other lioness the only way that she knew how, hoped it was enough, even though she knew it would probably never be, and then froze solid when Kagami pressed her nose to her to her cheek. Sanuye watched closely, suddenly confused, and frustrated (because she didn't understand why her confidence always seemed to disappear in the purple lady's presence) as Kagami bounced around. Then, when Kagami nuzzled her neck, the larger lioness felt her cheeks heat up.
What did this mean?
Deciding that she didn't really care, and acknowledging that she actually didn't mind these new and foreign feelings, Sanuye relaxed. She held her breath and leaned forward to nuzzle the other lady's neck in turn.
"I'm glad you're happy."

While Sanuye didn't have the classic beauty that Kagami carried the purple female thought very highly of her red companion. To her she had a rough beauty that was just a pretty as her own. To her at least. She was thankful that the red lady beside her wasn't pretty in the same way, the difference was what made the attraction.
Beside, while Kagami wasn't helpless, she enjoyed relying on the other female.
She was still frozen unsure of what to do now, what if she had upset Sanuye? Fear pricked her heart until it was vanquished by the feel of being nuzzled in return. She felt herself relax as she pressed her nose into the other female's neck.
Her smile returned to her lips as she pulled away just long enough to look back into the others eyes.
You make me happy

It still wasn't as easy for Sanuye to read Kagami's intentions or thoughts as she would like. She searched the other lady's eyes with a kind of intense rapture as she tried to discern the meaning behind Kagami's expression. Why could Akira understand the purple lioness so well, when Sanuye felt nothing but inadequacy every time she struggled to piece things together? It frustrated her.
It would be so much simpler just to talk. Yet, it was Kagami's silence that intrigued Sanuye so entirely- and kept her calm. She yearned to hear the other lady's voice, but, at the same time, wasn't sure it was the best idea. What if, once Kagami spoke, Sanuye couldn't make her happy any longer?
The red lioness had never been especially good at conversation. It was a part of why she liked Kagami so much. They didn't really need to talk. Still, Sanuye wondered if it would have made moments like this one (where emotions were so foreign and strange to Sanuye she thought she might burst) easier to understand.
Then she remembered that many people didn't always say what was actually on their minds, and decided that it was better if Kagami didn't say anything. It enabled truth. No matter how much trouble Sanuye had figuring out what it all really meant.
"You're so beautiful." It was the only thing she could think of to say.

Silence had been something Kagami had become accustomed to, something her brother had also learned to accept. She had stopped talking rather early in her life, when she had just grown to be classified as an adolescent. Ever since that day...the day where she had been crushed emotionally and physically.
The memory of that day always made her cringe and curl into a ball. It wasn't something she liked to remember, so she didn't. All she needed to remember about that day was the promise she had made to herself. She wasn't going to speak to anyone unless they were the 'one'.
While she was 98% positive she had come across someone who could be the one. She didn't want to get her hopes up again only to be hurt once more. Except now things were different.
At the compliment that came from Sanuye she smiled before pressing her head against the others chin. A soft purr rumbling.
You too, you too

Sanuye was a warrior. Until now, she'd dedicated her entire life to become stronger and faster for the sake of her pride. It was her dearest dream to protect her fellows and ensure the safety of her home. She was used to feeling possessive; accustomed to feeling protective, but this... this was different.
The giant red lioness knew what loves was. She could recognize it when it was there. She had love for her pride, love for her sister and love for Horowai, who'd rescued her from a tree when she was young and lit Sanuye's tentative passion for heroinism.
Yet, she was eternally confused by Kagami.
Kagami's happiness inspired Sanuye's joy. Kagami's pain caused Sanuye's dispair. It had never been like that before.
Sanuye was shy as Kagami purred, and gently pressed back against the other lady's head with her own. Her eyes fluttered closed and she sighed, content. This was a new, awesome kind of chaos.

Kagami knew many things that Sanuye probably did not. She knew what it was like to be in love; to care more about one person than you've cared about an entirety of people in your whole life. She knew how much it hurt to be rejected; when the want to curl up into yourself was so great that the only way to escape the pain is to run away. She knew what it felt to feel fear, to be terrified; it was the feeling of your heart hammering away at your chest threatening to break out and make a run for it.
She also knew what it was like to fall in love again; where you were afraid of being turned down, afraid of giving yourself completely to another person but at the same time where you felt like you'd do anything to see the other person smile. Where all you wanted was to make the other person's day, to have your smile delight them the way theirs delighted you.
She was pretty sure the feelings she felt for the red female beside her could be classified as falling in love again. But she was terrified of the thought, not of Sanuye, but of letting herself fall too far and to not be able to get back up from it.
So for now she would be content with just being by the other lady's side.
She closed her eyes and purred again happy to just stay where she was.
