Dipaka watched the sun set in the west, painting the sky in amazing shades of red and gold. He hadn't been away from home very many months, and his parents had strongly suggested he leave home, find a nice girl, and settle down, raise a family. He was all for it...just finding a nice girl was the problem. Girls made him...uncomfortable. Self conscious and slightly guilty for some obscure reason. Maybe that would change when he found someone he could really love. She should be...well...she should be...bright. He liked bright colors, and she should be a centaur. Bright colors looked good on centaurs and foxtaurs. It was this deep contemplation of what was attractive that made him fail utterly to notice anyone in the vicinity.

Eifa growled to himself as he stalked across the landscape, jumping to anger rather than the sadness that he truly felt at the moment. 'Stupid Jaione and her stupid... attraction to... stupid... old... MEN!!' the cattaur shouted in his head, the words managing to frighten off a few birds, given his telepathy gave him the ability to make his words louder than most could shout. That he was glad for; sometimes. Then there were people who would panic at the fact that he was talking without 'talking' and would then flip out and run off.
In his storming around, the cattaur somehow managed to run right smack into a centaur he'd somehow managed not to notice. Stumbling backward, he blinked at the red male, before glancing to the side, a soft blush on his face. 'Sorry about that, Dipaka. I was... irritated. Not paying attention and all that stupid stuff,' he commented at the other, blocking out the rest of the world from their conversations. No introductions, no nothing; he didn't want to explain his slight mind-reading or his telepathy at the moment; he sort of just wanted to get on with his life. He waited in front of the other, waving his tail back and forth in the air, the bell at the end of it ringing softly.

Dipaka stumbled as an...elegant and quite graceful...black and white male cattaur with the handsomest green eyes Dipaka had ever seen bumped into him. He wanted to thump himself for thinking the cattaur attractive, but the cattaur calling him by name startled him. "How...do you know my name?" he asked, baffled. The bell on the cattaur's lovely tail was sweet-sounding...which made him want to smack himself repeatedly, but there was no way he would do something embarrassing like that in front of a stranger. He settled for switching his tail back and forth, uncertain and increasingly irritated at himself.

Eifa couldn't help but smile a bit at the interestingly girly markings across the centaur's coat, and allowed himself a soft chuckle at them. 'Surprisingly festive, aren't cha?' he questioned with a soft smile, gesturing toward the heart markings all over the other male. After all, Valentine's was only a few days away, and the other matched the season perfectly, more or less. He swished his tail, blinking at the question, before he laughed. Once more, it was silence that came from his mouth, though it was open in a gesture of laughter; the sound was only in Dipaka's mind.
'Right, sorry about that; I'm Eifa. My magic specializes in telepathy and partial psychism,' he explained, extending a hand to the other politely and offering a sheepish smile, a bit of a blush coming to his face. That's right, Eifa, laugh in the face of being rejected by the only girl you've ever liked, smart idea. 'I guess I've gotten so used to it I forget to explain sometimes. Nice to meet you, by the way.'

Dipaka nodded, relaxing and shaking the cattaur's hand grandiosely. "A pleasure to meet a shining star such as you, too, Eifa. That is indeed a wondrous magic to behold...or to hear in the silences of one's mind." The phrasing and the handshake made him want to kick himself. He should be saving such words and gestures for girls, not Eifa! "Yes, well, my mother and father always loved the season."
That was a serious understatement. Sure, they'd been lovers, but had flirted a lot with other centaurs. As a result, Dipaka had been smothered with the season since childhood, and that had made him a little sour about the whole business when he saw his parents being affectionate with all the centaurs.

Eifa laughed cheerily at the comment, smiling pleasantly at the other before transferring his friend Jaione's voice into his head. 'Oh? Who says I'm not a girl?' he asked coyly, before chuckling to himself. Okay, so maybe he shouldn't poke around peoples' brains as much as he did- but it was so fun!! Especially the fact that he could do it, and no one else could~
Eifa's ears twitched a bit and he gave a frown before hiding any real irritation with a roll of his eyes. 'My parents had a habit a'getting angry with me around the season. Mostly 'cause I'd never spend time with girls, too busy 'throwing' myself after other boys, as they would tell me.' He grumbled softly, taking his hand back and folding both arms across his chest. ''Course, every time I chase after any girl she thinks I make an amazing friend, but they all have a very bad habit of laughing in my face if I make any mention of 'dating'. Stupid females...'

Dipaka stared at Eifa when he imitated a more feminine voice. "Please don't scare me like that, Eifa." He grinned ruefully at the cattaur. "That must have been deeply unpleasant. Mine ignored me around this time of year, aside from occasionally setting up a date of some sort with some girl they always said was beautiful, but I didn't much care for for some reason, and they didn't hide it when they wanted to make love with another centaur." He shook his head.
"The girls were nice and rather pretty...and they liked me well enough, but I just saw them as good friends, which always made them sad. My parents joked that I was a regular heartbreaker." He smiled a little bitterly at the memory. "I guess it'll just take a very long time to find a girl I like," he said quietly, shrugging, trying to shake off the subtle feeling of wrongness to his words.

Eifa laughed easily, running a hand through his hair to fluff it up and pressing a hand to his hip, winking at the heart-covered centaur and making his voice all femme once again, though this time it was his voice simply being warped. 'Aw, come now, pretty boy~ I'd make a good-lookin' girl, wouldn't I?' 'she' asked, before he started laughing once again and grinning brightly. He dropped the act and tugged at his hair a bit, glancing back at the ribbon on his tail, then blinking a bit.
'You know what would have been a great idea? I should have tied mistletoe onto my tail during Christmas, shouldn't I have?' he asked, pouting toward his new friend. 'Ah, I understand your predicament there,' he stated, nodding sagely a few times and swishing his tail. 'O'course, I've only ever had one true love, and she's dating someone who helped raise her! Humph. Talk about a cradle-robber.'

Dipaka both liked Eifa's voice as feminine, and it also spooked him. He'd probably have to get used to it...now why was he thinking that? They could be friends, yes, but surely not...lovers.... He couldn't help but laugh at what Eifa had said just now.
"That would have been a great idea, Eifa," he smiled when he finished laughing. "That's unfortunate, that your true love has someone else now." Without realizing quite what he was doing, he stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Eifa, his light brown muscles rippling under the skin as he did so. He held Eifa, totally blissed out, stroking the handsome cattaur with his strong hands for a few minutes, before he realized he was acting weird again, hugging and caressing a male taur.
Embarrassed, he dropped his arms and stepped back, blushing a little. His hands still retained the pleasant feeling of having held the cattaur and having known for the briefest of moments the warmth and heat of the cattaur. "Sorry about that," he muttered, dropping his eyes to the ground.

'Alas, I suppose it was just my powerful ways of seduction that drove her off~!' he said melodramatically, posing in the setting sun, which made his pale pelt appear to gain a rosy glow. That is, before he smirked at Dipaka once again. 'After all, boys just can't keep their hands off me,' he added, once Dipaka's arms were wrapped around him. He chuckled softly and wrapped his arms around the centaur as well, purring softly, but making nothing of it; the strange telepath had a bad habit of flirting with people without even noticing it. Or, something of the like.
'Oh, don't be sorry, Dipaka. It's been a hard life for both of us,' the slightly smaller cattaur noticed with an over-emphasized sigh, taking a step forward and wrapping his arms around the other's waist to lean against his chest, purring lightly. It was then that he lifted his tail up, ringing the bell over both their heads. He laughed, mood automatically either brightened or ruined, and pointed up. 'Now see how convenient that would have been?!' He sounded like a salesman.

Dipaka didn't know what to say to Eifa. Weren't males supposed to like females? Why did he hold and caress the cattaur like that, a gesture that was supposed to be reserved for a lover? He simply blushed when Eifa wrapped his arms around Dipaka's waist, and after a moment, wrapped his arms again around the cattaur, stroking the smaller male's back along the spine of his upper half with one hand and tousling the cattaur's hair with the other affectionately.
As he did this, emotions filled him, and he could barely stop himself from taking the cattaur's jaw, lifting it delicately, and sharing a kiss that ended too soon, when he realized what he was about to do and tried to make himself pull away from the male cattaur. But the feel of the other's torso against his own muscular torso felt so good, how could he let go...?
The sound of the bell relaxed him, freeing him again from the restraint of not knowing what was going on, and he let himself caress the cattaur tenderly. "Yes, it would have been," he said softly in the cattaur's tiny ear, and kissed him passionately. If it hadn't been for the bell, in all probability, Dipaka would have let go, but the sound...it utterly relaxed him and freed all restraints with its sweet, gentle tones.

Eifa couldn't help purring happily, a bit of a shiver running across his skin at the gentle caress from the other male. At the almost-kiss, he couldn't help but blink abruptly, ears tipping back and eyes widening for the moment. However, when the other seemed to just go right back to what was previously going on, he shook his head and leaned gently against the other once again. That was nothing, of course. And there had been no strange fluttering of the internal organs when it had happened, no sir. And that warmth in his face was a fever, not a blush in the least.
Eifa squeaked when Dipaka actually kissed him full-on-the-lips, green eyes going wide, the fur on his tail puffing up, and a blush crossing his face that was usually reserved for teenage girls. He trembled slightly, blinking a few times, before he relaxed slowly, a soft, contented hum turning slowly into a purr before he stepped into the kiss, letting his eyes fall shut. His tail swayed back and forth gently, and he lifted one hand to gently brush it across the other's cheek, heart pounding so furiously in his chest that he had no doubt that the other male would feel it.

Dipaka couldn't quite feel Eifa's heart pounding, but he could hear and feel his own pounding. The sensation of Eifa purring while kissing startled him at first, but it was pleasant and set his whole body to thrumming in rhythm with the cattaur's purr. His eyes were closed, so he hadn't seen the surprise in Eifa's face and tail, but he could feel it in Eifa's mouth and torso, the way it seemed to stiffen and he trembled in Dipaka's strong arms. The feel of the cattaur's hand against his cheek thrilled him, and he caught the hand easily with the hand that had been tousling the cattaur's hair.
To the sound of the bell that must be coming from the seemingly contented tail of the cattaur, Dipaka leaned into the kiss, the blood pounding furiously in his temples. When he finally drew back to take a deep, shaky, haggard breath, he whispered softly, "That was...that was...if you didn't like it...it's just...males...and girls...." He trailed off, breathing hard and gazing into the green eyes of the cattaur. "I probably make no sense right now," he murmured with a laugh still faint from the intensity of the kiss, his warm breath that smelled of cinnamon, much like the rest of him, blowing into the cattaur's fine bi-colored ear. His rose-hued eyes spoke far more of what was in the centaur's heart than his confused mind and certain heart and body could convey at that moment.

Eifa was calming very quickly with the warmth and scent of the cattaur, as well as the light that he seemed to emit in the setting sun. The smaller cattaur leaned happily against the taller 'taur and his purring deepened, it being one of few sounds he could make that actually came through something that wasn't his mind, the reverberations in his chest overpowering the shivering that soon ceased as his spare hand came to rest on Dipaka's shoulder. The one that had been grasped by the other soon removed itself for a moment from the centaur's cheek to gently weave their fingers, before straightening his out between the tan ones, once again replacing his hand on the male's cheek.
The little cattaur trembled softly and couldn't help a smile as the other spoke, a warm, rich laugh resonating in the shared mind of the two, before he looked up with glazed, happiness-filled eyes, a broad smile on his face as the laughter slowly faded away. His one smudged ear twitched softly, making him give a rather girlish giggle and another blush before he smiled a bit, tail swaying happily as he set his eyes on Dipaka's own, flopping on ear down and perking the other up like a confused puppy. 'Girls...? Oh, females? Huh. They do exist, don't they?' he asked lackadaisically, taking a step into the embrace of the other and taking another kiss, smiling into this one a little too much, forced to pull back to let himself crack another broad grin. 'Oh, I assure you that I didn't mind that in the least. I may go as far as to say that I actually quite liked it.' Sure, it was Valentine's Day, so maybe he was just feeling the desperation for a partner. But... for Dipaka's sake, we can only hope that after the shock subsides, he wouldn't leave.

Dipaka smiled at the kiss and the embrace, all of Eifa's little gestures. "It's just...aren't males and females...supposed to...you know...be the ones who fall in love?" he asked hesitantly and worriedly as they pulled out of Eifa's kiss. "It's not that...I don't love you...I do...but..." he trailed off in confusion, the clashing of his mind against his heart and body, his mind that insisted that males couldn't fall in love with each other and neither could girls, and his heart and body that reached longingly for the sensuality and intimacy of love with this male cattaur. He knew Eifa would see this, and it would hopefully be a problem they could tackle together. Now that he was holding Eifa like this, he didn't want to let go of him.
He ran his hand up and down the cattaur's spine, feeling the muscles and smooth skin of his back, relaxing as he did so, trying to forget the confusion inside. He ran his once-again free hand through the cattaur's hair, drawing the cattaur with his muscular arms against his powerful chest, resting his jaw, eyes close, delicately on the cattaur's head. His hands continued their stroking motion. trying to draw him away from the worry that the cattaur would also believe that their budding relationship, their caresses, kisses, and embraces were wrong. Sure, Dipaka didn't think they were really right, but...this happiness...this bliss...could it honestly be wrong?
