 " I could have told you that. " Miles said, a smirk pulling at his mouth. So Craig worked for the Matsuis, or at least for Han, and ...they disapproved for some reason? What did he do?
" If he's such a problem for everyone, then why is he still alive?" He asked it jokingly, but he genuinely wanted to know. Perhaps it was a cruel way of thinking, but it was a decent question. He knew that Jaydn would usually not hesitate to off someone if they were trouble. Kyrin was deliberately leaving something out.

Kyrin shrugged, "Mr. Kasai and my father were friends while Mr. Kasai was alive and working under my father. He looked after us kids and my father looked after Craig. But... Joe met an unfortunate end." She looked genuinely distraught by this fact before she continued. "So, my father wont let anything happen to him, even if he causes some rifts now." Ky found that skirting around the truth of her and Craig might just work. If she could keep the conversation away from the two of them in the same sentence she wouldn't give anything away. By the omission of facts she wouldn't feel so bad as she would if she lied. Why do I care if I lie to him though? She wondered. Its not like Miles has never lied to me.

Miles lifted the cigarette to his mouth in thought. " Is that all? "
She wasn't saying what the different "rifts" were. She was being very vague on purpose. He could see this, but wasn't going to press the point. Was she lying?
Miles extinguished his cigarette in the ash tray behind him, standing up. " Maybe it's not so important anyways. I just don't like being uncomfortable in my own office." His tone was a bit bitter, although he hadn't intended for it to be. He sat into his chair, leaning back.
If he was really that curious, he could find out one way or another. Funny though, how it wasn't only the Matsuis that reacted to Craig. If he really wanted to know, there had been another in the kitchen who had been acting odd...
He looked at her, wondering if she had any other business she liked to discuss, looking somewhat bored.

She watched him stand and sit back down, his tone completely evident. Miles was more observant then she wanted to give him credit for. Or I'm just easy to read. Kyrin thought for a moment about just saying that there was nothing else and going about her day. But, the truth was, for some reason the words wouldn't form. A part of her cared if she lied to Miles. There was more to Craig and she wasn't going to be able to tell him there wasn't, as much as she wanted to. He's gonna think I'm a whore. She thought, remembering Draven's words from so many months ago.
Ky shifted in her chair resting her elbows on knees and her face in her hands. Swallowing her pride, she resolved to say something. After all, it was that or have him be uncomfortable when Ky and Craig happened to be in the same room. Kyrin felt bad for making him uncomfortable, in fact, she didn't think she'd ever seen Miles uncomfortable. She looked up at him, "Craig and I used to be together." She said softly. Hearing the words come out of her lips made her chest tight. What will Miles think...?

As Miles leaned back in his chair, he leaned back even farther after Kyrin spoke, hiding his eyes by looking at the ceiling. He hadn't been expecting that.
What's the problem? It's just an ex. You have bad exes too. But his exes weren't following Kyrin around as she worked all day. There were many things he could say in response. When were you together? For how long? Did you love him? None of that matters. This was Kyrin's business; Not his.
" Is he giving you any trouble?" He asked, leaning a little bit forward again. How or when or why they had been together; that was the past. When it came to Kyrin, all that Miles had to be concerned about was the present.

The amount of time before he responded, although not very long, seemed to stretch out endlessly. Here it comes... She thought as he leaned forward again. His words were not what she had imagined he would say, his words were... protective? "No." Kyrin said simply. "This is the first time I've seen him in months." She didn't think that Craig was dense enough to give her trouble, but he seemed eager to talk to her, so maybe he was up to something.

Leaning forward on his desk, Miles gave the briefest of sighs. Then what's the problem? What was everyone getting uppity about? So Kyrin went out with him - so what? Was that a reason for Xavier to yell at him? They must have been something serious as a couple. Or maybe Craig had betrayed her in some way to piss everyone off.
Miles rested his face in his palm. " But he still wants to talk with you." He looked her in the face, trying to understand why this was something to worry over. " If he bothers you that much, then tell him so. You're Han's daughter; you don't have to pretend to like him. " Miles crossed his arms in front of him as he leaned forward on the desk. " He'll probably leave you alone if you tell him to. "

Ky laughed in spite of herself, "The fact that Han is my father is precisely the reason that I have to be civil to him. I go in that report too." She sat back with a sigh. She was glad for the response she got from Miles, it wasn't near as bad as it could have been.

Miles gave a small smile, but didn't quite know why.
" Sounds annoying. " He was glad to hear Kyrin laughing after being so uncomfortable before, but he wondered why she was being so secretive about it. " So, " He started, with a smirk he couldn't suppress.
" Why didn't you want to tell me? " Miles wanted to hear her say it. That maybe she was embarrassed, or that she cared about what he thought about her.

There it was. That affirmation. She had never admitted to it before, but now that it was out, it meant something. Albeit a small something.
" Were you afraid I'd run away from you?" He looked a bit off to the side. He didn't want to admit anything either.
"I'm harder to get rid of than that."

Kyrin smiled, "You run away?" She laughed, "I couldn't imagine you being one to run from anything." Harder to get rid of than that. That was reassuring, if nothing else.

He continued to smile, reigning back any anxiousness with blaring confidence. He had said something vulnerable and was glad she hadn't recognized it. He himself was surprised he was being so attatched. It wouldn't be good to linger on it much longer.
" Well Kyrin, " He said, starting to stir up the papers around him. " I'm sure this won't be the last time we have something to say about Craig and his agonizing reports. " After reaching for his cigarette case, Miles opened it to see that there weren't any inside. He gave a brief frown before continuing. " Is there anything else you need?"
He wanted her to say she did, if for at least a little bit. Although he couldn't be distracted from work any longer. It was an itch persisting inside his head.

Kyrin nearly laughed when Miles frowned at his empty case, Ah the case of the missing cigarettes, maybe its a sign. She smiled to herself. Standing, Kyrin moved over to the desk and leaned close to Miles. She motioned to the case, "No, but if you feel the need to have those back, you know where to find me." And with that, she grinned at him and made her way out of his office, her dark hair swinging gently behind her.
