In doubt, your friends are always there......

Alright, since I haven't seen any subforums for this (sorry if there is!), but which is your favorite saga(s)?

I personally think that the Dark Tournament and the Chapter Black sagas top them all.

I have nothing against the first saga, but the real good stuff happens in D.T.

Sadly, the Three Kings Saga was WAAAY below standards. I thought they could've done better. It was a bit of a disappointment.

Dark Tournament: Filled with action, secrets, many cliff hangers, and mixed emotions, this is probably the best one, beating the Chapter Black Saga by an inch. It meets up to the expectations out of all of them.

Chapter Black: Only coming in a close tie with the Dark Tournament Saga, this is the second best. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, including many dark secrets and pasts. It shows how much even though complete opposites the Tentai have, they all care for each other. This was a very enjoyable season, just like the Dark Tournament

Well, I agree I think that they could've done better with Three Kings. (Plus I was NOT happy with MukuroxHiei. *throws darts at dart board with a picture of HieixMukuro*) But anywho, I think all of them are pretty good. All of them have GREAT character development which I for one LOVE in a series.

I do have to say I think the Dark Tourney and Chapter Black are my personal favorites, just because Dark Tourney, like you said Sunshine, had lots of cliffhangers and also reveals a lot about the characters. Chapter Black was just full of cliffhangers, and I LOVED the twist where Hiei left the group (and then came back. ;D That got me laughing out of happiness.) And also Chapter Black FINALLY brought importance to Kuwabara's character and just really showed how close our favorite foursome had become as a group. ^^

But like I said, I liked all of the sagas. The Spirit Detective saga really was a GREAT exposition to the story and Three Kings taught you more about Hiei and Kurama's past, plus Yusuke's father, AND it had Kurama's character development, which, in my opinion, was positively AMAZING!

...annnddd...I guess it was good that Hiei liked a girl...*grumble grumble* (Heads up, you might want to save that quote in your mind, 'cause you'll never hear it again from me...^^; XD)

For the billionth time, I really hate it when the entire first thirty episodes are lumped together in the "Spirit Detective" saga. I know it's not your fault, but...gah. Too much amazing stuff happens in that saga to consider it all one. My favorite is the Maze Castle case. The original bonding of the team, plus Botan's struggles on Earth...something about it just calls to me.

Aw, yes! I LOVE the Four Saint Beasts. It was REALLY phenomenal and something I've noticed is people who USED to be a fan of YYH might NEVER remember anything else EXCEPT the Four Saint Beasts. Pretty cool, eh?

The best saga? Hmm, well I kinda think that the Spirit Detective Saga was the best. Things were set up really nicely and I found there were a lot of laughs in it. Second up would likely be the Chapter Black Saga... We got to see the darker side of some of the characters and I thought there was a lot of great action and plot twists. I suppose I am also partial to those particular sagas because I am more into plotlines than fighting... The Dark Tournament and Saga of the Three Kings mostly involved fighting... thought Saga of the Three Kings had less than the former of course. The one thing I really appreciated the Three Kings Saga for though was learning about Kurama's and Hiei's pasts, aside from that though, it didn't have much interest for me.

Hm. I've got to pick the Dark Tournament. Granted, fighting isn't always my favorite, but the character development blows me away. There's so much between all of the characters, and watching the harshness of the circumstances change them and reveal more about them always makes my week. It was also the most tense part of the series for me, where I really felt like things could fall apart and I didn't know exactly how they were going to get out of their situation alive.

Also, and this could just be me reading too much into it, I love the DT because it has the most profound, long-term effect on Yuusuke of any single saga.

That's so hard! The Dark Tournament and Chapter Black were both absolutely amazing. The Dark Tournament for the for the same reason as the first sentence in the post above me. As for Chapter Black: I thought the concept was absolutely amazing. It was so dark and twisty as well, which was awesome!

I think the Dark Tournament would have to be my favorite though. *nods*

This is SO unrelated to the topic for me to respond on to this - but I just HAD to. xD
I personally think it was simply friendship with someone who could more closely relate to him than the other three. She just so happened to be a girl. biggrin And I'm not only saying that because I ship other pairings and believe them. >.>

XD I actually do believe it!

Okay. Um. Get back on topic...um...DD: Three Kings was an amazing saga, because Kuwabara deciding not to go was incredibly realistic, as well as putting the other three on opposite sides. They weren't very good at being against each other though. xDD

And I have to agree about Yusuke and the Dark Tournament. It really did affect him most.

I dunno. They were all so important, and well done. I'm truly amazed by Yu Yu Hakusho.

I KNOW that Kuwabara not going was characteristic. But I was so disappointed!!! TT^TT

I just felt like it belittled his character and I missed him a lot!

Dark Tournament was my favorite saga, with Chapter Black right behind it. Sensui = Best. Villain. EVER!

Sensui was an AMAZING villain! I LOVED the twist that he USED to be the BEST Spirit Detective. I mean, that was just AMAZING, if you ask me. : DDD

You know, I've read a very good essay about how Sensui is a total Mary-Sue. Which kinda explains why everyone likes him. ^^'

Personally, I never cared for him, because of his stupid moral choices. He had such a God complex! And the whole time, everything he was saying was driving me insane, until the very end, when he realized that he didn't deserve to judge all the rest of us.

Also, another thing: why in the world would Spirit World keep tapes of everything wrong humanity has ever done? I know that they've also kept tapes of the good things, but I really don't see the point as long as we've got history books. Especially when it can turn people into serial killers just by watching.

Hahaha! Sensui's a girl. He was referred to in feminine terminology. Giggle giggle. (I MIGHT be in a BIT of a strange mood. >3>; )

I thought it was great. I mean, he stayed a pretty solid character throughout if you think about it. Despite the 180 flip from hating demons to humans, he still remained entirely prejudiced. If he saw one bad apple, the entire orchard was bad to him, true with demons AND humans. So that's what I liked about him. Then again though, its been a while since I've seen the Chapter Black segment, so I'll have to watch it again to clarify everything else you've said about his character.

Because, there must be opposition in all things. Also, it was probably FOR history sakes, in my opinion. Also, perhaps it was used in part of the brain-washing for demons. I'm not sure if it ever goes into the procedure for such, I haven't read the manga, but I think that could work as a pretty good explanation for keeping such a thing.

Plus, I would wanna watch it. Though I'd probably wish I hadn't. >_>;

Aw man! Didn't you LOVE the part where Hiei cut the tape into shreds?! Oh my goodness. I was laughing so hard and it made me get all warm and fuzzy inside! : DDDD

HAH! Hiei's getting soft! We should tease him. XD

So, what you liked about Sensui was the fact that he was so determined and/or stubborn? (There's a nice way to say that, but I'm too sleepy to remember it. lol.) I guess that's pretty admirable. I mean, he did stick to his beliefs. They were just morally wrong. XD

You're probably right about the tape being for brainwashing the demons. I don't recall it being mentioned in the end of the manga, but that makes sense.

And I don't remember Hiei chopping up the tape! That was in the anime, or the manga? I don't remember that happening in either! XP If I though that Hiei would tolerate being made fun of, I'd join you. But the truth is that I'm terrified of him and his sword. lol.
