Well the last one would explain the multi-barreled revolvers in video games. The problem is how heavy it would be with the extra firing mechanisms, cylinders and barrels. It would have to be a low-caliber weapon; I don't think most people could handle firing three .44 or .357 Magnum rounds at once, and NO ONE could handle three .454 or .500 rounds.
And the Grenade Pistol idea has been around for a while. Most flare guns could probably be modified to fire low-caliber grenades, and Killzone has a grenade pistol.

That was a grenade pistol? I thought it was supposed to be a 20mm pistol. I was gonna say, that's just gonna break your wrist and give 50 feet of flames. And that's besides the difficulties of a rimless break-action. Also, caseless ammo not work so good. That ejection port gives a lot more cooling than you'd think.

I agree. I like the desine itself but not the caseless ammo.

We've all already seen the first pic.
That one break open is just an upscaled derringer, way too upscaled.

The rifle that fires two types of ammunition would cause a soldier to have to carry two types of magazines and two types of ammo in addition to his side-arm. Plus, twice as much can go wrong and twice as much can jam, not to mention the weight.
The rifle that comes apart we've already been over.
The revolver would be too heavy and would need to be reloaded twice for less capacity than a standard automatic. It also has twice as many things to go wrong. Kind of defeats the reliability of the revolver.
The "derringer" is neat, but not practical. Maybe fun as a novelty weapon if you're into wrist surgery.
I do like the designs of these, but they wouldn't work well in the real world.

Fresnel That was a grenade pistol? I thought it was supposed to be a 20mm pistol. I was gonna say, that's just gonna break your wrist and give 50 feet of flames. And that's besides the difficulties of a rimless break-action. Looks like a rimmed round to me.
But what's wrong with the round being big? No one said it was going fast, unless I'm mistaken.
The Gyrojet you post fairly often had a slow velocity, needed to stabilize the grenades, no? But yeah, I too thought it was a 20mm pistol.

The gyrojet works on an entirely different principle, and as such, actually has a negative recoil. The vacuum effect inside the barrel pulls the gun forward just a bit. A 20mm is a high-velocity round, you need a lot of speed behind it to do the kind of damage a 20mm round is justified for. A grenade, well you can just lob those (no pun intended).

Sidal Any concept weapons ya'll have found? I was gonna post up the chainsaw launcher, but I apparently don't have the original picture. Anyhow... Rods from God, aka Project Thor. The idea is a carbon or tungsten telephone pole with fins, a small solid-fuel motor, and a basic guidance system, twelve rounds to a cartridge. One cartridge of 12 and one guidance system are launched up at the same time. The guidance system is radioed coordinates, and launches a rod from the cartridge. The rod thrusts a bit with its motor to destabilize its orbit, and it drops out of the sky. The kinetic impact less than five minutes later is pseudo-atomic. When all twelve rounds have been expended, just launch up a new cartridge. Regan-era s**t. Don't know why they never did it. Maybe they did. ninja

So it'd basically be like a small meteor impact. I'm wondering, though, if the rod could be reused or recycled after impact.

I'm not all that certain that a teflon coated round is all that smart of an idea. The teflon would reduce drag giving it more over all penetration through soft tissue, but part of how the bullet is supposed to kill relies on the drag to create more damage in the wound. I mostly base that off of my understanding of pistol cartridges and why the .45 apc is supposedly "better" than the 9mm.
