The night is calm, a tapestry of two lifemated Gargoyles hangs in a castle hall. A human comments on how the tapestry reminds them of Maura and Nightwing who are standing beside one another near it.
Nightwing: *stammers* Well...no cause thats for...for..lifemates...
Maura: *Mutters softly to herself* Besides, Nightwing's much more handsome than the male in the picture...
Nightwing: *blushes*
Maura: *Blinks and blushes herself* What?
Nightwing: You uhh...really...think so?
Maura: I think... *Eyes widen* Oh! You... you weren't supposed to hear that...
Nightwing: *blushes* Oh...sorry
Maura: *Smiles a bit* But... Yes, indeed.
Nightwing: *grins slightly* Thank You...
Maura: You're welcome.
Nightwing: *smiles*
Rose: *Dashes up, pushes Maura at Nightwing, and runs off*
Maura: *Falls off-balance with REALLY wide eyes*
Nightwing: *catches her and wraps his wings around her before chuckling* Your rookery sister seems to get quite underwing no?
Maura: *Grimaces* She's never been physically pushy, but there's *Looks up at him and blushes again* always... a... first... time...
Nightwing: *gently steadies her again by her shoulders and unwraps his wings from around her* We'll find some way to get back at her
Maura: *Kinda liked that, but won't say so* Mmm, I think a good dunk in the lake would suffice. In front of lots of our rookery brothers. She may be flirty, but she has SOME modesty. *Smiles a bit evilly* That dress won't do well with water.
Nightwing: *chuckles* Your beauty hides your cruelty it seems
Maura: *Sticks her tongue out at him* I'd never do it. But I AM known to have a rough temper. Rose once said I was worse than a wildfire sometimes

Nightwing: *smiles and strokes Maura's hair back*
Maura: *Smiles, blushes, and suppresses a giggle*
Nightwing: Hmm?
Maura: *Blinks* Hmm? Hmm, what?
Nightwing: Now your blushing?
Maura: Oh, well, uh... You put my hair back...
Nightwing: *chuckles* This is cause to blush?
Maura: *Blushes a bit more* Well, I don't think I have much control over it.
Nightwing: *brushes his knuckles against her cheek* Wouldn't want you burn up with blushes...*chuckles*
Maura: It'd take more than just a bit of blushing to burn me.
Nightwing: I believe that, if your the wildfire Rose claims *smiles and drops his hand*
Maura: *Chuckles a bit* It takes a lot to rile me, but... It's not a good thing once it gets started.
Nightwing: Well hopefully I'm never on the receiving end of that temper
Maura: *Smiles and nods* I don't imagine you will, but I'll put my hopes to it, too.
Nightwing: *smiles* but if you ever got angry at someone else I think I might like to see...*I'm sure you look stunningly breathtaking in a rage*
Maura: *Sighs and folds her arms a bit, hugging her biceps a bit with a bit of a shrug* Last time I got really mad was at some bandits that thought they could use our forests to lie in wait. *Looks down* It wasn't pretty.
Maura: And I brooded over it for a good few days, too...
Nightwing: You protected what was ours to protect
Maura: Yeah, but... *Shrugs* Can we talk about something else?
Nightwing: Of course, I'm sorry...
Maura: Oh, no, don't apologize! *Smiles* It's no big deal. See? I've forgotten already.

Nightwing: *brushes her hand* Can we go for a little glide?
Maura: *Catches his hand when he brushes hers and her smile grows* If you want to.
Nightwing: *grins* Yeah and maybe we can grab a bite too...
Maura: Sounds good! Let's go. *Tugs his hand a bit towards the cliff edge*
Nightwing: *follows*
Maura: *Lets go of his hand so that she can take off*
Nightwing: *quickly leaps after her and glides around her*
Maura: *Twirls a bit* So where shall we go?
Nightwing: Know any prime hunting spots?
Maura: Not really. You?
Nightwing: No...but I think we might be able to find something small in the forest
Maura: *Nods a bit* Mmhmm, lead the way.
Nightwing: *swoops to catch a lower current and lead her down to skim over the forest*
Maura: *Follows, happy to be in his company*
Nightwing: *swoops in a low circle before diving down into a clearing his claws grabbing a fat rabbit as he tumbles into the ground in his hard landing*
Maura: *Smiles at his skill, ignores his landing, and alights beside him* You're very good at that, Nightwing. I'm afraid I'm not a very good huntress, myself. Maybe you can teach me?
Nightwing: *smiles* Once you can spot what you want it's easier...since we come from above we can normally surprise and capture whatever we want.
Maura: *Nods* Yeah, I know. Spotting it's difficult, though.
Nightwing: You'll learn...sight, sound...I can teach you what to look and listen for...
Maura: *Smiles happily at him* I'd be glad to have you for a teacher.
Nightwing: The humans have spread the habit of cooking and seasoning the meats...I still prefer mine fresh...

Maura: I'm used to the human way, but food is food in my mind. *Carefully sits down on a grassy patch at the base of a tree*
Nightwing: *sits beside her and cuts out the choice peices of meat for her*
Maura: Thank you. *Takes the offered meat and nibbles at it, smiling at him* How have you been?
Nightwing: *eats carefully cleaning the bones* Good, the nights long...
Maura: Long? You make it sound boring or something equally unpleasant.
Nightwing: *chuckles* No...not unpleasant...just a bit...lonely of late
Maura: *Looks at the ground in front of her while she listens* Oh? How come?
Nightwing: I...don't know...I'm normally much better at finding company
Maura: Maybe... *Shrugs a bit, trailing off before finishing the incomplete thought*
Nightwing: *looks at her confused*
Maura: *Shrugs* I wanted to come up with a reason, but couldn't find one.
Nightwing: Oh...well no matter...tonight it seems I've the best comapny
Maura: *Blushes and smiles*
Nightwing: *pulls the skin away into a neat square and stands slowly* Better wash up
Maura: *Stands as well* Mmhmm. We're not too far from the lake.
Nightwing: Then lets go *smiles* race ya? *grins and takes off sprinting on all fours*
Maura: *Grins and lopes after him in the same fashion, catching up quickly* Come on, Night. Don't want a girl to beat you. *Smiles at him as she starts taking a playful lead*
Nightwing: *laughs and lunges to tickle her tail*
Maura: *Giggles and flicks her tail at him before slowing so that they were neck and neck*
Nightwing: *smiles and keeps pace with her content to run beside her rather than try and pull ahead*

Maura: *Slows as they near and finally stops when they reach the lake* My... That was fun. *Sits and washes her hands a bit in the water* Been a while since I had a foot-race.
Nightwing: *smiles as he washes the rabbit pelt and the blood from his hands* Your fast
Maura: *Smiles at him and lightly splashes him with water* Makes up for my lack of strength.
Nightwing: *laughs and puts a hand up to defend himself*
Maura: *Splashes him a bit more before sitting back and propping herself up with her hands*
Nightwing: *smiles and crouches infront of her* Full?
Maura: Mmhmm. I'm not really one to eat a lot. So, you mentioned earlier not being able to find good company lately. What sort of company do you look for?
Nightwing: *blushes* Uhh...well...
Maura: *Blinks in confusion* Well- *Eyes widen* Oh... *Blushes as well and looks away* Sorry, that was a silly question.
Nightwing: It's alright...I just...it's...well you don't know...it feels so good...*looks away suddenly ashamed*
Maura: *Blinks* It... does?
Nightwing: Yeah...
Maura: Oh... But... I mean, wouldn't it be even better if it was someone you really cared about?
Nightwing: *nods softly* Yeah...but...I worry sometimes...about that too
Maura: *Tilts her head* Why? *Laughs a bit and slides her hair behind her ear* I'm sorry about all these questions. I should stop pestering you.
Nightwing: No it's alright...I just wonder...what if I find my lifemate...and I still have these...desires? *frowns*
Maura: *Laughs a bit* Then you should fulfill them with one another, right?
Nightwing: Normally our kind aren't so...lusty...the humans they seem to mate at all times at any opportunity...She would think I was...*he bit at his lower lip*
Maura: *Thinks for a minute, looking up at the moon* Well, if she didn't like that, I don't think that's really compatible enough to be lifemates. And if it's as good as you say, well, then I imagine it should be not much different from, oh... racing or swimming or other things done for the pleasure of doing them. You might not want to do that thing EVERY night, but... *Shrugs*

Nightwing: *relaxes a bit and nods* I suppose your right...I just worry...I wouldn't want to...dissapoint her...
Maura: *Looks over to him with a smile* I don't think you've got that in you.
Nightwing: *smiles* Thanks Maura...
Maura: You're welcome. Though, I shouldn't take all the credit. I am just being honest, after all.
Nightwing: Maybe...but you have a way of making things clear...your most soothing
Maura: I'm surprised. Rose is usually the one good with words.
Nightwing: *chuckles* Your rookery sister is very pretty but hardly soothing
Maura: *Snorts* Certainly not. It take more than being good with words to be soothing. She's too loud and forward.
Nightwing: *laughs and nods before offering her his hand* We better go find our way back before the sun rises...
Maura: *Takes his hand and lets him help her up* You're right. I feel safer on the cliffs. *Smiles a little embarrassed* I can be paranoid sometimes.
Nightwing: It's alright we'll be there before sunrise
Maura: *Nods* Good. *Bites her lip a bit as they start walking and then shifts closer to his side*
Nightwing: *lightly moves his wing against her back as they walk along not slowly, but in no rush just yet*
Maura: *Smiles a bit* That's nice.
Nightwing: Hmm?
Maura: *Starts a bit* Oh, uh... *Blushes* I said that's nice. What you did... *Touches his wing*
Nightwing: *slowly turns and pulls her a bit closer to stroke her hair before blushing* We better hurry...
Maura: *Blushes as well and looks up at the sky* We don't have to hurry too much. Maybe we should run though...

Nightwing: *Nods and slips easily back to all fours to lope along beside her*
Maura: *Runs, smiling but not saying much, all the way back to the cliffs, climbing up to her preferred height and surveying the land around them* It really is a beautiful view.
Nightwing: *smiles at her* Yes... *turns to face the sun and lightly moves his wing against her back once more*
Maura: *Smiles and leans against him* Tonight was really... it was really nice.
Nightwing: *nods* That it was...*lightly puts his arm around her waist and pulls her close* Maura...you...your...
Maura: *Blushes a bit and smiles up at him* I'm...?
Nightwing: ...the best *pulls her a bit closer still gazing at her as the sun rises*
