Hair/Eye Color: She has dark brown hair, but not dark to the extent that it looks black. It naturally curls just enough to make ringlets, that reach halfway between her shoulders and elbows. Her eyes are a dark brown color, also, though many would swear up and down they were black.
Pet: Snowy Owl named Harra. She found her a few months before she started her first year at Hogwarts in a bush, with a damaged wing, and nursed her back to health.
Home Life:
At home, she speaks mainly Spainish, as it is her mother's native tounge. Her mother does know English, just not as well as her children. She lives with her mother and a few insignificant house-elves during the summer. Holidays her mother is usually out in some other country, so Makala stays at Hogwarts.
Mother:
Her mother is Amanda Vaine, never married, and a descendant of a somewhat prestigious family that originated in Spain. Not one of the best-known families, but known well enough. She holds the pureblood elitist views that are no longer as common as they once were. She's highly influential on her daughter, perhaps the biggest thing she's taught her is to not let anyone know her heritage. No one really knows why - in fact, neither does Amanda - but that one night, she had gotten careless, ended up with a Muggle and a half-blood daughter. Shortly after she moved to London from Spain, where no one would know of the mistake. She refuses to divulge any information on the man she slept with, despite her daughter's persistantness.
Father:
The man isn't around. All Makala herself knows is that he was a Muggle that her mother got caught up with and ended up having her. He was an Italian man, visiting Spain on a trip to see the world. After his rendevous with Amanda, he sort of...disappeared. He resides in Italy today, unknown to any of the Vaine family.
Brother:
Daniel Vaine would be the name. Only Makala's half-brother, project of another of Amanda's careless nights. Thankfully this time the child turned out to be a pureblood. He's five years older than his little sister, and currently works in the Department of Foreign Affairs with the Ministry of Magic in Spain, having graduated from Hogwarts a few years earlier. At Hogwarts, he was a Beater on the Slytherin Quidditch team, but nothing else of any great prestige. Sort of a wall-flower the boy was.
Diving deeper: Makala is the type to want the spotlight on her constantly. This, most likely, comes from the fact her brother was so unknown, and her mother has pressured her to be diffrent from him in almost any way. Every word the woman says gets drilled into Makala's mind, causing her to zone out and think of some conversations she's had with her when she's not conversing with another person. She's quite decietful, which, according to her mother, is a necessity, as no one can know she has "unpure blood." She enjoys the torture of others - generally younger Gryffindors, though it sometimes extends to even an older Slytherin, if the target deems worthy. That is, shy, lacking in confidence, quiet, the likes.
Now, with teachers, or others in authority, this completly changes. She turns into a sweet, kind, caring person. This is where the deciet comes in. Teachers generally find her an innocent person, though there are some exceptions. Some are just able to see through her and figure her out.
Taking a closer look: Makala wandered down the hallway, twirling her wand in her fingers. A few sparks shot out, but she ignored them. She was searching for some first year Gryffindor to curse, maybe a friend to gossip with, but no. No one was around. Where is everyone? she asked herself impaitently. She had never seen the place as empty as it seemed.
