arrow A Quick Link into Towns!(clickie) A whole week without bug-hunting?! I'll not know what to do... But I'm excited about the full version! I liked the mention of being able to reserve land for houses for friends.

In preperation for the general release of Gaia Towns, we will need to turn off the service and make a lot of changes to the system. Therefore, Gaia Towns will be down tonight at 6PM, PST. We will re-open Gaia Towns next week, with new features, and ability to reserve maps for friends to place houses next to each other. Another announcement will be made to the time of the general release. Though the reservation system will be available before that. icon_3nodding.gif This time, everyone's houses will be permanent. YAY!!! Should we maybe put someone in charge of reserving a place so that we're not all trying to do it? Or maybe 2 people so that we can have a neighborhood for the mules also?

That's a good idea. We need to agree on a block number and then designate a person to grab it at first chance... I think we should pick one of the high number blocks so as not to be in the major crowd areas.

Good idea. I vote for something with 19 and/or 13 in it, but I'm partil to those numbers.

We need to organize this asap! Towns reopens tomorrow!VO Dear Users,
Thanks for all your help testing GAIA Towns and for your patience as we get ready for the official release!
Our estimated time and date for release is Wednesday, October 26th at 4:00pm PST.
In the interests of fairness for all users, all of the previous Town data for house placement has been wiped and we are starting fresh. Don't worry about your bug or trash catches, those are still ok.
There have been a couple of minor changes to the moving in process, so please read the following steps in order to get started again:
1) Go to the Aekea Housing Commission and make sure you've chosen a house style.
2) While you are there, get a Barton Town Permit. This will allow you to place your home in GAIA Towns.
3) Launch GAIA Towns from the Trainstation in Barton Town and go look for a place to set up your home! (For optimal performance, we recommend you upgrade Flash to the latest version)
For more detailed information on GAIA Towns and setting up your home, view the GAIA Towns Instructions.
IMPORTANT
As we expect a large influx of users when GAIA Towns reopens, we have implemented a "reservation" system so that you can guarantee a spot with you and your friends.
Reserve is for all of you out there who want to live in the same neighborhood with your friends, but don't care exactly where. A Reservation is limited to one per user, and lasts 24 hours. This time period can be extended once, for the same fee. During the Reservation period, users who are on your friendslist who have not yet placed their house in Towns will see a Reserved sign for any open plots in the neighborhood that was reserved. Other users will not see anything, and will not be allowed to move into your reserved neighborhood. Once the Reservation period expires, the plots will then open up to any user who wants them, so make sure you coordinate with your friends before you get the Reservation so that they can all pick their plots before it expires. Reserve is limited to you, and any users on your friendslist. Because there are only 6 plots per neighborhood, you can reserve space for up to 5 people from your friendslist.
Relocate is for any user who wants to move their home after it has already been placed in Towns. This can be re-used, but it'll cost you. Just click on the Relocate button in the housing commission, and your home will be removed from Towns. Any users who are on the map where your house was at the time of Relocation will see your house there until they leave and come back to that map. Once you have completed the Relocation you are free to place your home elsewhere in Towns.
House plots are first come, first serve. To avoid frustration, please plan ahead with your friends to get a spot together. The reservation system will become active when GAIA Towns launches tomorrow.

we still don't know if it's going to cover the whole of Gaia either, or whether it will still be just Barton town, but the permit seems to point in that direction confused
so much for my beachside pad then cry

I'm guessing they're going to have enough plots for every user on gaia who eventually wants to place their home, so if we don't care to be in the first plots (which are often the busiest and most crowded when it comes time for people to roam and catch bugs,) then I suggest we wait a while, and pick a date and 24-hour span that 6 of us definitely plan to be on to place our houses, and then either pick the same date for another 6 of us, or another date. It doesn't sound like we can get adjoining plots, but will get random available plots reserved.
So we won't have a purkle neighborhood, but we will probably have several purkle neighborhoods spread about.
I suggest we plan out who will reserve plots and who will join with who.
Thinking about it.. with only 5 of my friends able to be in my neighborhood, I'd want my family in there first: PinkSeedkin, jmustang, jadepup, and my sister jennimac. That only leaves space for one. My best friend being Jaz, I'd offer to her first if she's willing.

Oh that's what else I was going to say. Since there are so many users on gaia, I'm wondering if once Barton Town is full, space will become available in other locations, and then others.. so there might be an advantage to waiting a while and seeing if more ideal locations become available as time goes on.

I think that waiting a while might be advantageous. Some of us will obviously want to get started right away, but I am willing to be a "reserver" in a month (I'll say December 1) for those that want to wait till then.

I plan on waiting a bit too. Maybe we will get lucky and have a neighborhood. If we can plan it just right. We can all be in the same area. Reservation goes for 24 hours so the ones of us who live on the other side of the world will have enough time to get in there. Now I would like for my little family to be together too, but I know that I would rather share my surroundings with the rest of you smile . A mule could be used to hold a spot for other purkles too. But I do definately agree to wait a bit. Let all the fuss for the first plots to be taken. I visited those first areas while it was in beta mode. And even with me being on dsl I was unable to go in properly without it freezing up. Maybe we can get a new poll Nibbler, just to see if this is a good idea wink
