There once was a girl Who grew up not knowing, Not knowing what a mother was like.
No memories to hold No family to grow old No hints at the past she once had
The girl never missed What the girl never had So why dwell in the past she thought?
She grew up not knowing Not knowing a family But the girl grew up all the same
She wandered the world Seeing what was too be seen And saw even deeper then that
She loved and she lost She laughed and she cried And the girl lived the life she had
She saw sorrow and terror She saw horror and strife And did what she could to help.
She held children’s hands She healed broken souls But never asked a thing in return
She once met a man A wonderful man Who showed her what life could be like
A mother she became So happy she was Her son was her pride and her joy
Then one day came When fate had a hand And the man she had loved was gone
The girl loved and then lost She had laughed and then cried For the man that had given her true joy
Years passed for the girl Others came and they went Her son grew to be a wonderful man
Joy found its way Back into her heart In the form of two beautiful babes
Her children were her life Her heart and her soul She would give everything just for them
Then war arrived In waves of pure evil Destruction and pain in its wake
The girl took her loved ones Away from the fray And rushed back in to fight back the dark
The battle was fierce Many lost their lives But the enemy was slowly retreating
The girl went back To be with her children Only to find them missing and gone
The girl searched hard She searched long Until she was captured and chained to the ground
The evil was back It had captured her babes And killed them right before her eyes
Her soul snapped It broke free of its binds She could handle no more pain and loss
She released her power Unto the world And destroyed every evil there was
Her soul rose then Into dark limbo Never to see her babes again
As she floated In the lonely darkness The goddess came to her then
“I will bring you peace” She told the girl “I will give you a life of quiet and calm”
The girl accepted Went to her new life Only to find things were not as they seemed
Her soul split Into three beings Two slept while one grew and lived
One was pure instinct The other true wisdom And the last was a childhood lost
There once was girl Who grew up so broken Not knowing how broken she was
She once met a man A wonderful man Who showed her what life could be like
He took off her mask Mended her heart And showed her what true joy was like
She lives to this day Her soul one once more With the man she loves so much
You know this girl You know her so well For the girl in this story is me.
