Ounces of Ashes

PostPosted: Wed Feb 11, 2009 8:35 am

Ive been wondering for quite some time now how true or untrue this is. Now i dont consider myself old (I feel as though I am sometimes but thats beside the point), and i am not a dog or any part of the K9 family. Back to the point though, does the age of anything really depend on how much you can remember? Or is it how much you know already that dictates on how many new things you can learn.
Here is my situation. ive tought myself many, many musical instraments. my specialty is the guitar and clarinet, then the drums. and after that just about anything else, i can play most of them. Im an everyday gamer, not the best but who cares. I work on cars, if there is a problem i can fix it about 80% of the time, And i really like to draw, im not as good as i used to be though. now for the final thing.
I have been wanting to do flash cartoons, and make really nice pictures useing advanced programs such as Adobe Flash and Photoshop but i just cant seem to grasp it that well. i just made a simple flash last night and its ok, but nothing special.
Soooooooo all in all my question leads up to this. Does anyone have this problem but me, or can anyone "Teach this Squirrel any new tricks"?

By the way, i was not trying to bring myself up at all saying any of this, im just trying to explain my situation. If you dont beleive me though you can ask Fumeiyo if i tell the truth. blaugh

thank you for you time. 3nodding
SQUIRRELS ROCK YO! mehhh....

Aww, Ashes, I love your signature! It reminds me of Foamy and his trips to the coffee shop... "Vinti? What the hell kind of Nazi-speak is 'Vinti'?...Hope you choke on a biscotti." 4laugh

The phrase "Can't teach an old dog new tricks" has always bothered me. Dog trainers and handlers can tell you that the age of the dog doesn't have anything to do with it (although they DO say to start training your dog as early as possible). Humans are cognitive beings who are constantly confronted with stimuli and therefore constantly learning. The only thing I could see is that memory tends to break down once you reach a certain age (or put certain chemicals into your body, heh), but there are always exceptions to the rules. And you, my friend, are not old by ANY stretch of the imagination. Except maybe for squirrel years lol.

Well, I think everyone has things that they find harder to learn than others... I'm really good with concepts and sciences, but some things, like terms and names, are hard for me to remember...

I'm horrible with names of people I meet. If it's in a book or movie or whatever though, I'll remember it until I die...
