He’d been happy enough to be rid of Verdandi…
…
At least at first. However, over the past couple of days, he’d found himself feeling rather… lonely. Yes, Nobody to inadvertently watch out for, nobody to hound him, and no little pitter-pattering paws giggling to their avian companion.
And he’d found time to take a break in the shade, ears held erect as if trying to hear for the very sound that harassed him for so long. But no-
Wait, wait! He heard the sound of some very light paws. Familiar, almost. However, the one he saw when he lifted his head expectantly was a cheetah, though not the one he’d been expecting. No, it was a female of dark red fur and white and gold coloration.
Who was more than happy to plop herself down in the shade with him and play shy.
Ah ha ha.
Freya had found herself a pretty young man to flirt it up with, or rather attempt to, throwing herself into the shade of the tree and batting her lashes shyly over a shoulder, a little smile forming on her face. Hee heee heeeeeee.
She was very much amused, really. Because the more she batted her lashes at him, the more he frowned and leered at her and the quicker he looked away. Which of course brought the ever so flirty cheetah up closer to her little shade-mate.
“Mmmm. Playing hard?” she cooed, sidling up right next to the leopard, who hissed and prickled at her for her efforts.
Though he did have to lean away from her, frowning with disapproval.
“Nnnngh.” He hissed, shifting away from the cheetah, which caused Freya to pout at her very much REEEEEJEEEECTION! Which was fine by her, frankly. Rejection was rejection, and that was something that reminded her of someone else.
“Hmmhmm. You act like my daughter does about my antics..” Freya crooned at the male, who only prickled further, rising to his paws to start walking away. “I don’t need anybody playing match-maker for me..” he stated flatly. Freya laughed lightly at his assumption. “Like that girl would let me match-make her!”
Which was true, considering who it was.
Aeron frowned at Freya.
“Then why are you trying?” he asked boredly. Freya giggled maniacally. “I wasn’t trying, you boring boy! I was commenting on how you remind me of Verdandi.” She mused. However, that name caused Aeron to stop immediately, looking over his shoulder to eye the strange female who had rolled over onto her back and was now making googley eyes at him.
“Ooooh, interested now?”
“Hardly.” Aeron stated flatly, as Freya rolled over and romped over to his side and practically flung herself against him, licking his cheek.
In time for the terrified squeak of another cheetah who had walked onto the scene.
“M-Mom!!? ….AERON??”
Verdandi had walked onto the scene, her fur immediately prickling, before she turned tail to flee the scene that she’d just walked in on, Aeron fumbling awkwardly as the little cheetah knight took her SOBBING leave… which caused him to part from Freya’s side and start pacing along behind the other cheetah.
Though he did look over his shoulder at Freya.
“Now I have to go fix this mess..” he hissed with a frown as he walked off.
Freya just smiled and waved a paw, her ‘plan’ having worked out ever so nicely. Yes, listening to her poor daughter sob had been more than enough to prompt her to step in to help. Certainly an odd little pair…
…
But perhaps when she saw them in a few weeks, things would be better between them.
