June had decided it was time to get out of the house, to bring his young and somewhat excitable son out and about so that he would leave his older brother alone. It wasn't that long ago he'd been checked out of the hospital and Duncan wasn't much up for company let along the constant presence that was Keir. The boy had been worried about him and now that he was home didn't want to let his big brother out of his sight again. It caused no end to Duncan's temper flares...
They were at the recreational center, a place June came from time to time to work out. Today was more for Keir though, let him stretch his legs among others his own age... the boy had yet to be able to do that. Only dealing with a grouching teenage brother and an 'old man' dad.
Keirnan's golden eyes glanced around as he was released into the rec center and he moved from place to place quickly, peeking in various doors to see what was going on, his pink hair standing out brightly. He was such... an odd looking little boy but so sweet too. June couldn't help but smile at the giggles and attention he was getting from the people he waved to, said 'hello' to, or just walked by.

While other kids might have thought Keirnan strange, Zephyr didn't even seem to notice his differences. Hitomi was settled comfortably at the side of the pool with her feet in the pool and her pants rolled up so that they wouldn't get wet while her adoptive daughter splashed about in the shallow end.
The little girl giggled, splashing her way over to where Keirnan was- she spent enough time in water that Hitomi knew she wouldn't drown or anything, "Hiyah!" she beamed, her ear-wings fluttering happily, "I'm Zephyr!"

Keirnan moved toward the pool, eyes going wide when he saw someone with fluttering ear wings approaching him. He tilted his head to the side before giving a little smile, "Hello." He greeted her, lifting a hand to wave then started to move forward closer to the edge of the pool.
June moved after him, reaching out to catch him before he could hop in, "Hold up there." He said, "You need to take off your shirt and shoes before you go jumping in." The giant of a man helped Keirnan to get ready to play in the water. It took only a moment before the pink haired boy was heading for the pool again, hopping into the water without a thought.
The man shook his head, depositing his things on the bench along the edge of the pool before he walked over to get into the water. He wanted to be nearby since this was the first time his son had gone swimming.

Hitomi too watched the child. Her own ability with water would make certain he was unharmed should he suddenly start to have trouble with it, but he didn't seem to be having any. The tiny Asian woman let her fingertips fall into the pool water. It wasn't what she would have preferred-- she liked her water a little more natural-- but it was warm and more enclosed than the lake near home, so she brought Zephyr here frequently to get her fill of swimming about.
The little girl giggled, flutter-kicking her way over to the other boy, "What's your name?"

Keirnan watched the way the girl swam toward him in an amazed sort of way, his eyes a bit wide, "Wow. Neat." He murmured his many strangely placed wings giving a flutter when she got nearer to him, "My name is Keirnan, what's yours?"
June watched his son as he talked with the girl, leaning against the edge of the pool. He would keep an eye on them but wouldn't step into their conversation. This was why he brought him here, to make friends.

Zephyr giggled, "I just told ya, silly, I'm Zephyr!" he probably hadn't heard her 'cause she was so low in the water and all. She flopped over on her back, floating next to him, "Do you come here a lot? I never seen you here 'fore, and we come here lots and lots so I can swim 'cause the lake at home's too dirty and big." All of this, seemingly without taking a breath.
Hitomi nodded respectfully to June, watching the children closely. Floating was of course Zephyr's strong point given her affinity with Air, but one could never be too safe, and she wasn't sure about the swimming ability of the other child.

Keirnan gave a giggle, had she? She had said something while his Dad was helping get him ready to be able to swim with her, "Ohhhh. Hehe, Zephyr." He said, giving a bit of a grin. It was a neat sounding name he decided. He moved through the water, keeping his feet firmly on the bottom, not quite ready to swim yet. He was liking the feel of it though, like a big tub.
"No, first time here." He admitted. It was easy to tell by the way he was moving in the water but he didn't looked scared at all about it, "This is neat."

The little girl splashed her feet a bit, turning back over in the water, "You never been in the water before?" she asked incredulously. She was super-sure that everyone had been in the water all the time like herself! How could they not?
"Momma says when I'm a little bigger I can just swim in the lake."

"No. Oh! Well the bath tub." He said, realizing that it was a rather big container of water that he'd been in. Nothing nearly as big as this pool was! He moved his arms in the water, back and forth to get more used to the water and the more he got used to it the less worried he felt. He was able to relax and really enjoy everything about this new place and new feeling.
"Is that bigger then the pool?" He asked, never having been to a lake before. He hadn't really appeared forth from the relic that long ago so there was a lot that he hadn't seen yet. Everything was new and everything seemed to amuse him greatly.

Zephyr nodded vehemently, "Oh yes! The lake is much much bigger! You can barely see the other side of it when you're on one side! That's why momma won't let me swim there, 'cause I could drown or get lost or something, maybe. It's a lot deeper too, though I dunno how deep."

Keirnan's golden eyes widened in delight at the thought of a late that was so big you couldn't see the other side. His many wings gave a swish, fluttering, "Ohhh... I see. I want to learn to swim so that I can go to places like that." He said, sounding thoughtful. He looked over at Zephyr, "Can you... show me?"
She seemed really good at swimming, maybe she could help him to figure out how to do it?

"Sure!" the girl set her feet on the bottom of the pool, putting her arms around his waist, "We'll start with floating 'cause that's easy. Just let yourself go. I'll hold you up, then you'll know what it feels like. It's kinda like balancing."

Keirnan listened closely to the directions before giving a little nod of his head. Balancing on the water? Sounded pretty interesting he thought to himself as he did as he was told. The water must have made him even lighter then he already was for her to be able to help him to float.
With his feet up off the bottom of the pool and him floating he felt... strange. It was a bit like flying he imagined... not that he could fly yet either but the weightless sensation with his feet no longer touching the ground made him think as much. It was a very interesting feeling, "Wow..." He murmured, his wings opening up and spreading out to help him have more of himself helping with balancing and floating.

Zephyr giggled, "See? It's easy! Ya just gotta let yourself be really light in the water." She let go, moving her hands away but keeping an eye on him in case he started to fall back into the water,
"Keep your legs up. Your top will stay up mostly by itself."
