Drip drip drip.
Raindrops plinked on the vinyl of a brightly coloured rainbow umbrella.
Splash splash splash!
Puddles of water were disturbed by clunky bright blue galoshes as Kisala made her way through them. She didn't go around them of coruse-- what would be the fun in that? And, teenager or no, Kisala wasn't above having a little juvenile fun.
She'd made her way out to the park for just this reason-- she liked rainy days because most of the other kids stayed indoors and she could go about wherever she wanted and splash and not have to worry about upsetting anyone else.

Splash. Splish. Splash. Gush.
Joshua was jumping in the puddles, avoiding the drying strips of land and mud. "Uncle Vate, come on! There's plenty of puddles!" He said, looking at his uncle. To the boy's disapointment, the dark elf shook his head.
Vate was safely underneath an umbrella, avoiding getting wet at all costs. He hated rain. He hated mud. He especially hated it when small children thought it was neccessary to go out in such weather. At least the boy had agreed to wear a rain coat and boots. He was dressed in bright blues and yellows, apparently going for the 'Tom Bombadil' look, as Thali called it. As for who this Tom fellow was, Vate had no idea. Joshua had mentioned that he was from a book.

Kisala giggled, splashing her way over to the boy as she spotted him, "I love it when it rains like this!" she told him, "Not too much and not too little. Just the right number of puddles for splashing."
Her jeans were soaked-- they'd be really tough to pull off later. But for now, she was just enjoying the wet. As long as she didn't stay out -too- long she wouldn't get sick.

Joshua was a little alarmed when he was approached. He hadn't noticed the older girl. "I like jumping in the puddles." He told her. Then he decided he ought to be polite. "My name's Joshua, what's yours?"
The dark elf behind him muttered something about Joshua having just recovered from a cold. Vate knew Thali would skin him alive if he allowed her 'baby' to get sick again. Well, maybe not skin him. But she'd make him regret it.

"I'm Kisala, or Kisa if you like," she said, twirling her umbrella so it made a really pretty blur of rainbow, "I guess really I'm not supposed to be out much longer...and I'm a little too big for playing out in the rain, but it's hard to resist!"

Joshua smiled, "Kisa, then." He said, watching her umbrella. He liked the colors. "I'm not supoosed to be out long, either," He told her, "My mom doesn't want me out in the rain too long, because I just got better." He nodded, "From a cold." He jumped into another puddle. "I told her I'm okay though."

Kisala moved a little away so she wouldn't splash Joshua and splashed in another puddle, "I got chicken pox a while back, but I haven't been sick since then," she said, "But yeah, that's what momma worries about too-- me getting a cold or something. I'm probably going to go to the bookstore in a little bit after this. I heard they got in a new book on rockets for me to buy."

"Chicken pox?" Josh repeated, tilting his head slightly. "Did you really turn into a chicken? My brother says that's what happens when you get chicken pox.." He paused, and then added, "But I don't really believe him, because I had goosebumps, and I didn't turn into a goose! Mom said you just get them when you're cold."
From behind the boy, Vate rolled his eyes. Of course. Vincent had also been then one that told Josh that if you ever got goosebumps, you'd turn into a goose.

Kisala giggled, "Naw, you don't really turn into a chicken. You just get itchy bumps all over and can't go outside and play because you'll give it to other people and you feel like you have a cold a bit too, only without the runny nose 'n stuff. Just achy and tired a lot."
She remembered clearly how awful it'd been, trapped inside all day with nothing to do but drink lots of water and try to avoid her little sister's teeth.

Josh rather thought that turning into a chicken sounded like more fun than having a cold and itchy bumps. "I hope I never get chicken pox." He said. "I hate staying inside."
Well, maybe it would be okay if his parents told him more stories about the dragon called Smaug. But otherwise...

Kisala nodded, "It was really awful. All miserable and itchy and stuck inside with nothing to do." She -hated- being stuck inside. She was definitely more of an outside person, though she didn't mind quite as much when she was, like, doing music or something. But music was something you did inside. There were very few other inside things that she really enjoyed, except maybe martial arts, but you could do those outside too.

Joshua nodded in understanding. He didn't care for the indoors much either, though he prefered playing inside rather than being too cold. "My brother and I play make-believe when we can't go outside." He told her with a smile. Pretending always made him feel better when he was bored, or sick.
"Maybe next time you're sick, if you make-believe you're somewhere else you'll feel better."

Kisala grinned, "Never thought of that. I don't play stuff with my sister because she's -mean-!" She was, too. Though Ajiiel no longer took to biting her sister, she did still throw cherry bombs at her and pull her hair and stuff.
"But, I could always pretend by myself!"

Josh nodded at Kisa. "I have sisters too." He told her in a whisper, so Vate couldn't hear him. "They were just born though, so they aren't that mean-- but they keep my Mom up all night, so I think they are. And they make a lot of noise." He covered his ears to demonstrate how that made him feel.
